The Monk's

I came here on a rainy day after watching a movie at the nearby theater.It wasn't too busy. Only 2-3 other parties were also there dining in.The waitress was helpful. I had their top soup, Manchow and added chicken and my main dish was chicken tikka Marsala. My friend had veg samosas and a tasty vegan dish. All the food was delicious, fresh and flavorful and I'd order any of the dishes again. I've bookmarked this as a go-to for good Indian food in or near Pearland and it's a great restaurant near the movie theater for a bite b4 or after a movie.

Service was great. Food came out fast. The inside is nice. Nicer than the location on Westheimer. I went on a Saturday afternoon and there were plenty of patrons. The vegetable pakora was great. I loved the fried basil. The chicken tikka masala was good. Flavorful. I asked for medium spicy but it was super mild. Also it had more onions and red peppers than chicken, which I wasn't crazy about. The chicken was tender though. Plentiful portions. Overall, I'd go back.

Came by on Saturday for lunch. Got the chicken darbar appetizer, gobi dynamite appetizer, and street style chicken noodles. The noodles were my favorite, reminded me of indo chinese noodles back home. The appetizers were good but could have been spicier, we got the medium spice level. Would recommend getting the spicy level.

Would highly recommend the paneer tikka masala and the spicy masala fried rice (though maybe get a mango lassi on the side to cool down the spice). These were both so flavorful and enjoyable to eat. Service was solid, though they ended up bringing our appetizer (gobi Manchurian) last. Honestly I was a bit dissatisfied with the gobi Manchurian, as it wasn't as sweet or tangy as I've enjoyed previously. But otherwise food was great. Ambiance was nice with lots of seating and modern decor inside.

The food is excellent, we've had most of the dishes on the menu, and several of the cocktails. All were a delight. The waitstaff has always been kind and patient in helping us order. Obviously, English is a second language for the staff, but in general they have a wealth of knowledge and experience in helping you make a good choice. Lovely space, but be sure to leave plenty of time to experience the restaurant, this is NOT fast food. In addition the service is family style, each item ordered comes out in sequence, share and enjoy.

The food is tasty although some of the chicken pieces were a little tough, (not enough to not order again) the restaurant is quiet (early dinner on Sunday). Our food came out at different times so that was a small issue. The servers were attentive. We will be back.

I love Indo-Chinese food and I must say Monks Pearland was a great place to satiate my Indo-Chinese cravings with great ambiance. Their portion sizes are big and they have pretty much everything available in both non veg and veg. The servers were attentive. The only problem was they seemed to have forgotten several items at the go. For example, we had ordered appetizers and drinks but they served main course first and only when asked they brought the appetizers which was a bit confusing. The momos were a bit dry and also the tandoori chicken. But I cant wait to come back again.

The Monk's is always amazing! The food and service are exceptional. The wait staff is always willing to take the extra time to explain every item on the menu.

Comfortable enough place. The employees are very friendly. I picked up an order of chicken tikka masala to bring back to my hotel. First problem, I ordered vegetable samosas as an appetizer. When I got there, asked them for extra tamarind sauce. I was told they weren't making the tamarind sauce right now because of the heat and that it would turn bad. In all my years of eating Indian food I have never heard that. Canceled the samosas because I didn't want them without the tamarind sauce. OK, I can get over that. What I can't get over is that even though the sauce for the tikka masala tasted good, the chicken was full of gristle. That was gross and inexcusable. For that reason, I will not go back and would not recommend eating here.
