The Meating Place BBQ

Driving through Magnolia and this place caught my eye. The decor inside and out screams relax and enjoy and that's exactly what we did. Live music adds to the ambiance. Food is great and not limited to the typical bbq menu. We had the whole bbq featuring pig skins, queso and in our case chopped beef instead of the usual pulled pork. What a treat! Service was patient as we perused the extensive menu and management checked in on our table during the meal. Well done.

Very good brisket. My wife and I stopped by yesterday. Brisket was out of this world good, nice bark, perfect smoke ring, and you could cut it with a fork. Their BBQ sause is the perfect blend of sweet and spice. Sides were just ok in our opinion. The piece de resistance was the awesome banana pudding! Absolutely a must try in Magnolia. We will be back for more BBQ!

Hm. Well, I wish I could say I had a 5 star experience here like other Yelpers but unfortunately, I didn't. Came here this past weekend for lunch with my wife and another couple because my friends don't live far from here and it seemed like a good place to try.I'm currently on a low carb "diet" so I opted for a 2 meat plate instead of a sandwich or something. I went with the jalapeño smoked sausage and brisket and for sides, baked beans and potato salad (I know, not low carb). Got my meal, I was a bit unimpressed especially in comparison to the others' meals. I feel the meat was a bit skimpy for the price. I also wasn't impressed with the taste of the brisket. The flavor was a bit weird to me like the meat was spoiled at the time it was cooked, couldn't quite put my finger on it. Also the potato salad was a bit lackluster. However the baked beans were really good and the smoked sausage tasted decent as well, not dry, moderate heat and good seasoned flavor.I also went back up to the counter later before we left and purchased a pecan cobbler for a "cheat" dessert later. Later that day, I lightly heated it up and ate it and wasn't impressed. It wasn't really that sweet, it tasted "healthier" (even on a diet, I love my sweets). The breading was also quite thick and crusty and just overtook the rest of it. Overall, it just wasn't desirable. I felt I wasted a "cheat" meal.I also like to address something else that happened here, we experienced some prejudice. When we first came in, I didn't quite notice it but my buddy pointed out that the lady at the register was a bit hesitant to greet us. What I did notice however is that while we were enjoying our meal (we sat in, ate and talked for a good hour or so), both the waitress and 2 of the other people working in there keep coming to our table and checking on us every 5 minutes and it felt like there were subconsciously saying "why are you still here??" And I just felt like I was being stared at the entire time; I just felt uncomfortable. Nothing about our appearance stood out as "eccentric", just 4 young clean cut black people.Now to clarify, I'm a very "adventurous" eater which has taken me to MANY different restaurants in many different cities and areas, good, bad and everything in between. I've eaten in places where I faced prejudice and I've also eaten at restaurants in areas where "I didn't belong" and I didn't feel that at all, both the owners and staff made me feel comfortable. So I'm pretty good at deciphering the difference. If I claim the race card, there's usually a good reason. It's sad that this is still a thing in 2022 but that's the country we live in. Therefore, this is a warning to all my fellow Black adventurous eaters, be careful if you come here.

Nice local spot for BBQ and smoked meats. I didn't go all in with a meat plate as I normally would just wanted some sliced beef cause I'm a brisket loving feller but not so much a sauce lover. I'm pretty sure it would have tasted better if it wasn't drenched in sauce usally that comes as a side option. Not sure what happened here but everything was great minus the sauce thus 3 stars. Seems to be popular for the lunch crowd, next time in town I'll know better.

Go to bbq spot. Get a baked potato before they run out or anything your heart desires. For the price you can't go wrong!

We called because Maps said they are not open Monday, however, happily they are! We were looking for good Texas bbq and found it here. Cute place, friendly service and delicious bbq! All of our sides were yummy, too! Love a business owner who thanks you for your business when checking in on you. We are glad we picked The Meating Place for lunch today!!

The Meating Place BBQ is a must stop if you're coming through Magnolia headed north off FM 1774. Don't take the bypass take the side road next to McDonalds because you don't want to miss this place‼ Step up to the counter after checking out their huge board menu on the wall. Once you order you get your drinks and find a good place to sit. Someone will bring you, your food so no need to go back to the counter. I usually get just a chopped beef sandwich and a drink today I thought I would give something else a shot and try the Frito Burrito. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere was casual and good country music was playing. Stop in and get you some grub‼

Best BBQue around here. Extremely tender and juicy brisket and ribs! Sides are just as great as their meat. Hungry for a chicken fried steak, one of the best ones I have ever eaten!

Was there for dinner last night and the food was wonderful. I had a sliced beef sandwich and my husband has the sliced beef plate. Enjoyed our time and listened to karaoke. Thank you for not blasting the karaoke as we were still able to enjoy our conversation and hear enjoy the singing in the background. Highly recommend
