The Jay Cafe

I always go the Jay Cafe when I'm Rosenberg Texas. Amazing food, huge portions and always fresh. My Texas go to place. Best Fried Pickles ever and the chicken fried steak is amazing.

I ventured 30 miles from the Uptown Galleria area to The Jay Cafe in Needville TX because a photo of their Mesquite Grilled Ribeye special with 2 sides for $23.99 came across my Instagram feed. I was not disappointed!I started off with the Jay Cafe Jalapeno Poppers which were HUGE! They are handmade daily, contains bacon (YUM!) and served with a small bowl of ranch dressing. They were hot & delicious.Then I ordered the Mesquite Grilled Ribeye, well done, with Mashed Potatoes and Fried Okra. The mashed potatoes were a bit stiff, but were hot & delicious and the fried okra didn't have much taste to it, but the Mesquite Grilled Ribeye was bursting with flavor! Served on a bed of mushrooms & onions, the ribeye was juicy and hot and was not overrun with fat edges. It was perfect.I topped the meal off with a peach cobbler & some ice cream. It was a perfect meal for this rainy, cold night. Thanks, Jay Cafe! I would DEFINITELY recommend!

Great food and especially PIE! Local place with home made food and pies! Great service from the staff and food comes quick! Always love to come back!

The food and service are always great here. Make sure to try the pie, you'll be glad you did. Lunch and dinner are great, the only improvement I'd suggest is better breakfast options.

Food was great... we shared a Jay bacon burger on the jalapeno cheddar bun and a salad. the coconut pie was really tasty as well

Stoped in for lunch today. I had the little Jay chicken fried steak and it was delicious. Came with homemade rolls and 2 sides. All were really delicious. I would recommend this to any one wanting a good home cooked meal. Pie looked awesome but I didn't have room for dessert Our waitress in training was very friendly and attentive to her customers.

I would give zero if possible. It could've been the timing or something out of my or their control. There were 5 wait staff talking and carrying on. A waiter who seemed fairly dour and walked by about 10 times and never asked for my order. I asked for coffee, there was no question about cream. I suppose that I was deep in tea territory and coffee in the afternoon was probably out of the ordinary. I waited about 10 minutes and then walked out. I drove down the road and had an amazing burger at the next establishment. I was excited to try Jay's juicy cheeseburger. Alas, it wasn't in the cards.

I have ordered from this restaurant often.When I order "to go" the service is not as good. If you order shrimp they are a lot SMALLER than they used to be but the price is LARGER. When my husband got his chicken fried steak they left out his gravy. This item is part of his meal. I don't mind paying the prices but I would like to get what goes in the meal. It's also hard to get tarter sauce. Thank you...

I love how nice the atmosphere is here. I remembered it being very delicious food. But yesterday I had the lil Tex fried steak with mash and onion strings they were too die for just wasn't a fan of everything else. Very disappointing. And the service was okay. Our server seemed to be rushing us. So we took the rest of our food Togo. And I mostly came for the pie! I'm excited to eat it today!
