The Greasy Spoon Soulfood Bistro

My brother had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. We finally made the trip and it was worth it. Let me start by saying the service here was great. The young ladies that assisted my family were great. They were patient and very accommodating. The restaurant had plenty of seating and was very clean. The music playing was upbeat and appropriate for all ages. Most of our orders were from the 'made to order' section of the menu. It didn't take an unreasonable amount of time to come out. Everything was hot and tasted pretty fresh. The foods flavor was so good. We all enjoyed our choices. My mom said her oxtails were delicious. I enjoyed all the sides, the Mac and cheese was probably my favorite. I didn't like that the tails were on the shrimp but most places do this. The sauce included on the catfish and shrimp dish was amazing. It made the dish even better. But it was also good without it. We ordered dessert as well. I forgot what I had but I believe it was fried pie I think. It was good but the older I've gotten the less I enjoy sweets so it was a little too sweet for my "adult" taste buds We also had the non fried version which everyone enjoyed. My brother tried a half and half cookie that was good as well. Overall I definitely plan to come back and enjoy a good meal here again when I'm in Texas.

I have been ordering door dash from this place for a while now. I got a chance to go to the brick and mortar. I'm glad I went early because shortly after I arrived, the line began to wrap around. The inside was clean but it was warm. They do have tower fans situated around the restaurant. And because it was Sunday, they were paying gospel music. I ordered the catfish, greens and yams and a side of Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was pretty good for stovetop. The greens and yams are phenomenal. And i don't say that lightly. The catfish is deep fried and tasty. Good size fillets. My friend got an oxtail plate with the same sides. It was her first time and she loved the yams! Ok got to go- writing this I got hungry again, need to go see if I order a plate!

Stopped in for lunch and EVERYTHING was good! The fried catfish, lamb chops both Rosemary and jerk. The smothered steak and the herb chicken. The Oreo red velvet cake cookie was good. The Italian Wedding Cake wasn't great and the cheesecake was okay. The rest of the food was delicious!!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and ordered oxtails, greens, and Mac and cheese. My son got something similar. The first thing that stunned me about this order was the price. Those 2 combos with 2 drinks and a small cobbler was over $80. I swallowed hard and paid, after seeing the oxtails were listed with "market price" and I hadn't paid attention. Both my greens and the Mac and cheese were way over salted and the oxtails were better the first time I visited this location. We were given plastic ware so there was one very small paper towel in the package. Sent my son to ask for napkins and he came back with 6 ripped napkins that looked like they came from the bathroom paper towel dispenser. The staff was friendly enough but the dining room was hot and humid and the music was too loud. Sorry but I won't be back and can't recommend.

Today I decided to have an early dinner with my mother and youngest daughter. We all have a varied food choice. The Greasy Spoon has a nice variety of souls food menu. The atmosphere is lovely, they play music, have faux wall fire place and the staff are awesome. We will return!

The Greasy Spoon is an intimate yet family oriented black owned business that serves up great hospitality and service;as well as amazing food , I had oxtails ,greens ,and candied yams ,and I ordered the smoked Turkey and greens filled egg rolls it was delectable And my guest had lamb chops mashed potatoes greens and sweet potatoes each meal was served with cornbread . The Greasy Spoon Soul Bistro was clean and very welcoming.I look forward to joining them again to listen to live music during Sunday Brunch

Oh my!!!!! I met one of my Sorors for lunch after church to catch up on time missed seeing her. I was really impressed with the amount of food placed on my plate. I was going to get the fried chicken which is always good and hot, but when the oxtails came out, I decided to get them. They were tinder and delicious. The Mac and cheese was tasty and the string beans were seasoned just right. Nothing was loaded with salt, Thank goodness! I enjoyed my food and the time visiting with my Soror. Ten stars. :-)

Good was delicious. The fired chicken and fish were fried to perfection. The grits were on another level of fabulous. The okra and tomatoes were wonderful. The yams were sweet and tasty. Great place to eat and a cute vibe!

Return back to one of my all time Sunday evening restaurant. I did find out the best time to visit the greasy spoon restaurant on a Sunday is between 12 and 1 PM. I arrived 6:45 PM had wanted some shrimp and they were out of them sold out. several items is sold out if getting there after 5 PM. I had the fish-fried mashed potatoes, and the best greens with cornbread. I would have given them a five star but the restaurant is still having an AC issue. I did sit right in front of one of the fans that they have there for the customers so I was OK but would have been a whole lot better if the AC was working I'm sure it's something that's out of their control. If you want a soulful Sunday meal, the greasy spoon is the place to go.

Food was terrible and the only thing I tasted was black pepper never again will I ever go back there
