The 49th

Stopped at The 49th on the way to see a show at Red Rocks. The food was good and the Alaska theme added a twist. The place had a small town vibe and service was fast and friendly.

Amazing, the Cod was great and cooked really well, the Chicken Club was enough food to feed two! We also ordered two 24oz beers, Alaskan IPA's, the Icy Bay was hoppy.Atmosphere: we dropped in during March Madness and CSU was playing. Lots of TV's in every direction, music playing in the background, but overall not that noisy.Service: first time here and it was packed. We learned that you have to write your name on the chalk board. We were lucky to be the first on the list and were seated fairly quickly. Our waitress took our order and food came out quickly.Tips: I'd love to try some of the starters, but would never be able to finish all that food. So come with friends and share.

Unsuspecting from outside, in a strip mall but when you go in it has a nice wooden cabin feel. Everything is themed after Alaska (the 49th state). Had some awesome Brussel sprouts with cranberries and balsamic and turkey Sandwich with caramelized onion and sourdough . Husband had a great burger that was nice and pink inside and the fries were on point, crispy and flavorful. Had a great selection of food and a good bar ! Def would go back

OMG the burger special I got was delicious!!! All the burgers come with fries and they were pipping hot when it got to the table. We didn't order any drinks but there's a good selection of cocktails and beers. Super chill and laidback restaurant and you seat yourself when you walk in. The server will come and bring you menus and it's just easy and simple. The vibe is very country cabin and it was great to know there's a local burger joint down the street. Their burger menu may change often so keep your options open!

Let's start with the service, the restaurant was very busy when I arrived yet I was greeted and had a drink within a few minutes. Server was attentive and on top of things even with the full place. I had the poutine burger, which has maple cream cheese, cheese curds, gravy, and shoestring potatoes. The burger patty had good flavor, and the sweetness of the cream cheese paired well with the peppery gravy. My only complaint is they are so strong that their flavors take over the burger at times to where you can't taste anything but sweet or pepper. Overall, a very good experience and a good burger. Would come back again.

We Flew in from Chicago for a Hockey Trip. Of course we want to bounce around and try some local places. We stumbled upon this space based on all the great reviews. Great bar atmosphere and server was very informative. I apologize I don't remember his name. I got an Amber beer on Tap it was Delicious. My wife got a cocktail called matanuska moose I laughed when she ordered it. It was also delicious. Appetizer was the chip basket with blue cheese that does not disappoint. Main dish Alaskan Cod Sandwich with Fries and the cod was delicious. Fish was very light and fluffy. My wife loved the burger it was the special. Mushroom goat cheese Burger. Very unique fun place. Don't pass this up. You can go to chain Restaurants anytime. Five stars

This was our 3rd time here and I've gotta say, they still serve some delicious food! The decor is Alaska themed, and their menu has a nice variety. Service is friendly, but you can tell the servers are racing around a bit trying to also play host. When you get there, you have to write your name on their chalk board and a server calls your name. Problem is sometimes they don't cross names off, or if someone leaves they don't cross their name off either. Servers aren't sure who's actually there, and it's cramped. They could use a waiting area and front of house. This place is a little gem in an unassuming strip mall. They've also done crawfish boils during the summer, which is a fun change up. Give them a try!

I got a taste of what the folks from the 49th enjoy! The place is very homey, like you're eating dinner at grandma's house. There are a lot of options to choose from. I had the elk meatloaf, and the portion was huge! Ive never had elk meat before, so that was a unique experience. It was kinda bland, but with some salt, it was good with my taste buds! The gravy was delicious, and I liked that the mashed potatoes weren't mushy. I ate the rest the next day, and it was still good! My daughter had mac and cheese from the kid's menu, and my son ordered the grilled cheese. The grilled cheese wasn't bad, except it had Bri on there. I should've read it, but I assumed it was just cheddar. Bri has a strong smell and taste, and it was a no-go for us! Besides that, we enjoyed our time.

I would give tonight's meal 0 stars if we haven't had better experiences in the past, unfortunately tonight was a train wreck. We set at one of the hightops near the bar, wait staff walked all around us and waited on the tables beside us and behind us while we were ignored. I had to go to the bar to order drinks, at that point a waitress said someone would be with us soon....no one showed up. I then noticed the wait staff arguing about who was going to wait on us, guess if it was that big of an issue they should have told us and we would have left. Then when we finally had someone wait on us he couldn't have cared less about waiting on us, I don't mind paying for a meal and service but this was very disappointing and not how I would hope an evening out for dinner would go especially since we live in the area.

Excellent food and service! This is definitely a local gem hidden in a strip mall. They are known for their elk and beef blend hamburgers and feature a burger of the day. Based on the waitresses recommendation, we had the burger of the day and the salmon fish and chips. Both were fantastic and worth getting again. The burger of the day was a unique creation with halouri cheese, lightly fried spam strips, onion relish, and other goodness. Fantastic combination!Our waitress suggested substituting the blue cheese potato chips for the side, for a $4 upcharge. The side portion was huge and delicious and absolutely worth the $4. We saw the appetizer portion and it was huge and probably enough for 4 people. The fish batter was dark in color but did not taste burnt, and the batter complimented the sweetness of the salmon. Definitely the best meal we share on vacation.
