Family owned and operated. The hamburger is so big and don't even try the double meat burger unless you are extremely hungry Now the chicken fried steak. Wow. Real steak Love it

Food and service is wonderful love going there. So does my Dad Eddie Johnson the atmosphere is quite and cozy

Wasn't impressed. Had a basic bacon cheeseburger. Way too many onions, the meat was plain and the bun was cold. It's fine if you're not looking for anything fancy.

Always a solid go-to when you can't decide, great food and even greater staff, I have been eating here for nearly 20 years now at least, pretty sure we just quit cooking for 1/2 of those years. They offer fantastic homestyle cooking, best chicken fried steak in this neck of the South, Great burgers and daily lunch specials so good you'd swear your grandma had to be in the kitchen.... someone's is! Just a cozy little place to grab a bite, get the daily New Ulm scoop and enjoy a break here in town. Stop on by, they'll treat ya right.

Great food in the middle of New Ulm.Hey, New Ulm is not very big, but if you happen to be in the area, Texas Star is a MUST VISIT.Huge burgers. Don't forget to substitute tater tots for the fries. They ran out of tots when they got to my order, but the fries are also very good.The chicken fried steak was very tasty. Be sure to add grilled onions. Wow, what an experience. Funny signs on the walls and very friendly waitstaff.

The Texas star cafe is a small cafe in new ulm , texas. I know the owners of the cafe and the people who work there, and they make me feel welcome every time that I visit. The food is amazing and everything is very low priced. If you love good people, a home cooked meal and a heck of a good time then visit the Texas star cafe!

I love their breakfasts and their hamburgers. Both are delicious and neither break the bank. Friendly service is also a plus!

Food is at best mediocre and not inexpensive. I would have to be hungry to go back. They are open intermittently and obvious signage is lacking. It's a local hangout and the people are friendly.

Nice drive from Sugarland to New Ulm. Specifically wanted to try this place so out we went. Cool little joint with BIG plates and tasty food. We split a double cheeseburger with bacon and glad we did. Barely got half of it down! Onion rings were terrific as well. Everyone else seemed to be really enjoying their meals. Great day trip location for weekend lunch!
