Not much to look at, but this place is the best. Pho, special fried rice & crispy Vietnamese egg rolls! Plus the family is so nice!

Not sure how this place is managed to open.We visited this place on 7/19 after a round of golf.Once we ordered, the owner brought was iced water. He was not covering his mouth and nose the entire time. He just had his mask under his chin the whole time. The water cup had a sauce stain and a fruit fly in the water.I ordered combination pho and the soup had a weird taste as if the ingredients were so old and frozen for a long time.I would never visit this place again.

I'm only giving 2 stars because of the good customer service. The place looks like is your typical old hole in the wall Vietnamese place. Use the restroom before you go, it's pretty scary in there! The fried rice and the white rice was hard. The shaking beef/bo luc lac meat had no flavor. The grilled pork and rice/com thit nuong meat tasted like fajita meat. We didn't bother to finish it. The only thing that was good was my soda chanh.

"Tau Bay" (literally meaning "Flying Boat") is an archaic Vietnamese word for "airplane" which is supposed to conjure up images of the early days of commercial aviation, particularly Pan Am's "flying clippers" before the Jet Age. This restaurant is quite an archaic establishment in the Vietnamese American community! This Pho Tau Bay has been around for as long as I can remember, which included the Vietnamese New Wave age of the late 80s/early 90s! Despite its outdated Reagan-era decor, the restaurant does have a well-lit dining area thanks to many windows at its corner lot location in a strip mall. While the service fluctuates from surly to attentive, the food offerings are always consistent. Service was "surly" during this visit, with the proprietor coming out and taking my order with only a few grunts in the affirmative. But my order of Chanh Muoi (Salted/pickled lemonade) and a bowl of Pho Dac Biet came out timely, and tasted excellent as expected.Despite inconsistent service, the food quality is always the same. This place has been a fixture in Sharpstown's Asian American community for as long as I remember and I will likely be coming back.

A pho restaurant with a pretty good sized menu. The atmosphere is standard Vietnamese, if you know what I mean. ;)I ordered the ph bê thui, but it looked more like ph tái to me.

Worst place ever to dine in. They let you see the outdated menu and when you ready to pay, they will increase the price without even informing you. Be alert!!!!!!!!! Food is just so so. Just one additional table eating on Saturday night. The business will definitely going down with such way of doing business. So disappointed

We stopped by lunch around noon the other day. The restaurant was almost empty (only us and like 1 other table), and it seemed like the owner was the only one managing the front, bringing out foods, and taking orders.Anyways, prices were on the average side for Viet foods. The foods looked appetizing, but that was about it. The foods were really not great. We ordered the bun ga nuong va tom nuong (rice vermicelli with grilled chicken and grilled shrimps) and also the com bo luc lac (shaking beef). The foods looked apetitizing but were not that good. The vermicelli bowl was okay since the grilled chicken and shrimps were not very flavorful, but it was actually the better of the two dishes we ordered. The shaking beef came with fried rice (ketchup fried rice). There was a strand of hair in the beef, the beef was chewy and did not taste good, and the fried rice was overly sweet in a bad way.Overall I would not come back here. The restaurant was not very sanitary, and for the price, you can get better quality Viet foods at so many places down the street.

They randomly upcharge the pricing without pre warning or communication. Food is just OK like the other places in Chinatown. Just be aware of your bill before paying.
