Swamp Chicken

The food tasted really good up until my pregnant friend found a sharp piece of metal left over from a Brillo pad in her food. After that, everybody who dined was apprehensive to continue eating.Everybody is entitled to have a bad day. I guess our waitress ( a short, chocolate skinned lady, using a lace front melt band as a headband) was having a bad day because her customer service was terrible. Upon entering the restaurant, she stood at the back and yelled where we needed to sit. She didn't even have the common decency to walk over to us and greet ass despite us being the first people in the restaurant. Moreover, when she came to take our order, she decided not to use a notepad although our party consisted of five people. I do understand that some people can do that and have an excellent memory. However, our drinks were forgotten and parts of our order were missing. As a result, we had to keep asking the waitress for the things that were missing, and she seemed to be very annoyed.Unfortunately, I will not dine at Swamp Chicken again.

The instagram page: prettygirlseathouston popped up and talked about swamp chicken so we decided to visit to celebrate my husband's birthday.The Ambiance: We dined in this past Friday. It a friday so of course they were busy. We were running a little late so our friends got the table for us. We were told they had to wait a bit for the table to be cleaned and after that it was still dirty so that's a down side (not the wait as that's expected but the table being dirty after it was cleaned). But by the time we sat down it was handled. Also while ordering our drinks I noticed I was given a sticky glass. I didn't like that as all customers should receive clean utensils and so forth but I asked for another and the waitress was nice and immediately got a new one. Actually everyone on the staff seemed very nice and checked in with the customers (customer service is a 10/10)Our Order:Zydeco Pasta w/ side of étouffée - The pasta resembled everything that is shown online. The flavor with the sauce was perfect and the pasta to sauce ratio was just right. My only complaint is the chicken was slightly overcooked but that is something that could be easily fixed. The étouffée reminds me of back home (this is very hard to find in Houston so I definitely applaud them for this). 6wings combo w/ side of red beans and rice - My husband felt the wings did not have the flavor that the appearance presented on the images. He also felt it was heavy spice coated on the outside but not enough flavor to be within. He likes that you can tell the fries were hand made and the red bean and rice is top tier. Our whole table would rate the red beans and rice a 9/10. The beans were soft but not mushy, the spice levels were perfect and it was not overly salty. This is something anyone could enjoy. Stuffed wings - They were super salty so it can easily give a headache. The boudin in the inside though, reminds me of back home. The stuffed wings left us feeling a little mixed while culturally the food does resemble the Louisiana culture and cuisine. The spices given can make it difficult to enjoy. Drink: Swamp juice (non alcohol) - You will only need one. There are two options (You can choose alcohol or non alcohol). The Color of the juice definitely reminds you of a swamp and the drink is sooo good. It can be super sweet like many of us like it; but do not over do it. You literally only need one.Service:The wait time for some things were a little long so the appetite did change a bit by the time some food was received; but everyone's attitudes and helpfulness definitely makes up for it as this is something that is hard to come by now. Payment:Payment is quick and easy. There's no automatic gratuity and it's not based on the whole table.Overall if we're on this side of town again, we'd stop by for a few thing

This is a nice size restaurant with a New Orleans twist. I got a daquri, stuffed wings, regular wings and fries. The service is top notch and friendly. I loved the stuffed wings and the fries. The rice meat mix inside was too good. My son and I loved the fries. The only thing that could have been better was maybe less breading on the wings. I ordered more wings for my son thinking the 5 wings wouldn't be enough but they were huge so we had a lot to take home.

My first time here, and the customers service was good. The waitress was attentive especially since she was taking orders by herself. The fried fish was swai fish. So if you like that, then you may love this place. I for one love me some fried catfish. This is was okay. It wasn't mind blowing. The dirty rice was served cold. The crawfish étouffée on top of it did nothing to add better flavor and was lack luster.I tried their stuffed wings with boudin, it had a bitter aftertaste. Stuffed wouldn't be the word I would use more like content wings. There was not a lot of anything in it. 2/5. Pink lemonade was from the powder. It tasted nasty at first so when we told the waitress, she said she didn't add enough so she was going to fix it. The shrimps were delicious the best thing probably. 4/5.

My friend had been talking about how good this place was, so we decided to go here together last Friday for dinner. It wasn't packed, but it's also probably because it was an hour & a half before closing, so the service was decent. We were sat at the bar, which was pretty loud with the music. We both then ordered the swamp chicken with fries, but then were told that they were out of fries, which was completely fine! So they allowed us to choose a different side for it. I got the crawfish étouffée and she got just regular rice. I very much enjoyed the chicken, which was delicious, well seasoned, and very crispy. The étouffée though felt like it was missing something, but it was still decent. Overall, I do recommend trying this place out!

What I can say is that the inside of the restaurant is a well looking place but nothing too fancy! Instagram had me thinking something different. First off, I came with my family and they only had ONE high chair. If your going to cater to all, at least have enough high chairs for ALL customers. For the size of this establishment they should have at least four. I had to hold my baby while we waited/ate. It took a while to order our food and when we ordered our food , it took about 45 minutes to even come out . The waiter didn't check up on us until we started speaking up. We ended up getting our food but mine was the only thing hot , my husbands food was cold , and my daughters food wasn't even all that good and they got the same thing. We also had the stuffed wings which weren't even all that stuffed only your first two bites you could tell it was stuffed with some boudin. I'm still tripping on as soon as my husbands food came out he automatically said it was cold but we waited so long. he initially wanted the fried grits but they said they was out . Sadly I was excited to come to this restaurant but the service I had was not all that good, and the most sad thing about it is that IM STILL HUNGRY !! I was irritated about the wait so unfortunately I don't have any pictures. *I did express my concerns and the manager did give us a discount on our meal, which is respectable. I like to support minority businesses when I can, and I do hope this restaurant will improve on their wait time and overall product. I wish the best of luck to them.*

Love love love the vibes in this place. We read the reviews before coming but still wanted to give this place a chance. Our experience was great! We got the mac and cheese and the boudin balls and they were nothing short of fresh, appealing, and flavorful. Sometimes reviews can be misleading ya'll. This place is a good eat!

Great place to eat, friendly and kind staff. The food is excellent i recommend this place any time you desire good food.

Definitely not what I paid for. I understand sometimes people call out of work. I understand that things could be hard and serving a big crowd. I was told the food was gonna be 20 minutes in about 45 minutes later I've never eaten grits before, but I'm pretty sure that ain't it. They were overly thick tasted nothing but butter not creamy at all. I had one strawberry couldn't have a handful of grapes. Bonet were pretty good. Countryside. Potatoes were left in the fryer too long. It would've been nice if they were crispy them. All you got was oil. Wings are pretty tasty. They actually were quite nice. When I sat down at my table. It had like a layer of film on top of the table. It was very slimy and oily, so was the floor throughout the restaurant. The restroom was actually clean, but didn't have any paper towels The customer service was actually pretty good. I think it could've been better if there were more people actually attending the customers. Thank God I brought my iPad.

Fantastic fried chicken!!! Friendly service. Fun atmosphere. Did I say fantastic chicken already?
