Sunset Tavern

The bartender was really nice, I love how sport bar the vibe is, I did not try the food but I did have a few beers and the service was nice. I will say I am not a huge fan of the price but honestly that's just something I gotta get used to here in Miami that draft beer is $12. Back home it's $5. Great little bar

The mild-mannered weekend-brunch fixture of South Miami, Deli Lane, takes out its drink glasses and becomes the Sunset Tavern. The food is pretty much the same (well, there are variations between breakfast and dinner, but most of the menu you can order regardless of the time, with some exceptions), and the servers are pretty much the same, only that by night they have live bands with music and a different crowd... and, obviously, you can drink the drinks you wanted to drink in the morning but were too embarrassed to order because not everyone lived by the "it's five o'clock somewhere" motto.Actually, I'm lying: you can do everything both in the morning and the evening and you'll still enjoy the moment.The menu is the typical sports bar fare, I've tried the burrito (which is huge), and I think it was pretty good. They are pretty accommodating for large groups. It is a bit of a drag to have to go order at the counter and then wait at the table to be served, and they are for sure not among the fastest in the business, but so far they have never disappointed.My only real complaint is that sometimes I feel they chose the live bandas by purposefully picking the worst one... I mean, they always have good songs, but the performances are practically a crime sometimes... they are still fun, though... for a super-villain :)

Went on a Sunday night around 9:30pm and the place was pretty empty. They had karaoke and a lot of guys were singing and was surprise at how good they were.We were a big party and the server was very accommodating and took our orders pretty quick. Food was alright but what I liked the most was the service and atmosphere.Would come back again on a Sunday evening. It was really fun.

We sat down to get few drinks, and the server took forever to approach us. We decided to move to the bar. Bartender gave us great service.

So I have been thinking for a long time about how the describe Sunset Tavern to do it justice. Maybe I am having a writer's block (or a mental block, for that matter) or maybe you just can't categorize Sunset Tavern into a simple mold. Sure, from the outside, it is like a sports bar with a long bar to the right, TV screens showing sports, a pool table... But somehow that is not the vibe I get from it, at least not when I go there. Sure, the games are on and I might glance to check out a score, but hardly anyone that I know goes there to watch a game. Maybe the issue is the folks I hang out with. To me, Sunset Tavern has a welcoming and a relaxing ambiance. With the large outdoor area, I can just sit there, drink beer and watch the people and traffic go by. I don't think I have ever seen it super crowded, and because of that, it is always easy to get another round. On weekends, they have bands playing, and that is when it starts to become fun. The bands that I have seen there typically play a variety of music that you know by heart and you can't help yourself singing along with the band or getting up and start dancing to it, or both.So how do you categorize Sunset Tavern? How do you describe it? There is only one word cones to my mind, and that is simply "fun".

Last Saturday, following the members of a band formerly known as Exit Left, whom have joined another band called Spektora, we went to Sunset Tavern. First off, Spektora was very good and brought the house down. They played lively and upbeat music the entire night that had the whole tavern dancing and singing along. I still miss Exit Left though . Sunset Tavern is always one of my favorite places to go to. They have a large outdoor area where you can sit back and chat with your friends, or just watch the pedestrians walk by. They have a large bar on the right with a few TV screens and a pool table on the left, but the vibe of this place, which is what I like most about this place, is so much more than just another sports bar. On the weekends, this place comes to life, especially when they have a live band. The service is good and the place is clean. If you want food, you have to order it from next door, but they will bring it to your table. Overall, if you are in south Miami, and you are looking for a place to hang out, Sunset Tavern is the place to be.

I went to this place last month. On Fridays they have different bands that play. It was good. People can dance. I did not try the food or drinks. My friends did they said it was OK.

Very nice place to hang out. Nice menu. Usually great music on weekends. A bit hot at times.

A friend was telling me about the awesome happy hour deals here so I decided to check it out for myself! When I got there, it was pretty packed but I was still able to find a table immediately.The deal is that drinks are half off. Just an FYI, they no longer offer $1 appetizers! That was one of the reasons that brought me to Sunset Tavern but it's ok still enjoyed the drink specials. Along with half off drinks, they also have deals of the day. The drink deal was Moscow Mules for $6. Ended up loving the Moscow Mule as places do make them differently and can vary in taste. Decided to try the NY Steak which was also the deal of the day for $25. Comes with two sides, and was decent for the price, just wouldn't recommend the cole slaw as it was pretty dry. We did have a little problem communicating with our waitress. She would ask if we wanted another round of drinks (no problem with that) but when we asked to hold off for a second, she wasn't understanding why. Made us feel pressured to order another round. Wasn't a big deal, but a little odd.A plus was they had a live band playing great music.

The food is not even close to good. I've been a few times. Disappointing every time. Good for music and beer. Cocktails are ok. Eat somewhere else and come for music.
