Sugar's Cajun Cuisine & Bar

When we first walked in the place smelled like sewage. I ordered catfish with a crawfish etouffée sauce on top. When the food came out, it was a piece of fish soaked with a mysterious sauce And I was told that there was no crawfish. Well at the point you knew you didn't have any crawfish why not send the server out to let me know and I could've changed my order instead of serving me a crawfish list crawfish étouffée.. Went in the bathroom to wash my hand, and the sewer smell was even stronger in there. I know the staff management and owner can smell it, so why not rectify it. Needless to say, I will absolutely not be going back to that place again. Now I understand why it was empty.

A miserable experience! We celebrated my mom's 60th birthday here .. The service was poor, the servers had no urgency, I couldn't event tell if we had a designated server or not. Just had to flag people down when ready to order. Never got refills of water, had to go to the bar to get drink refills. We booked this dinner approx 6/7 days before and they had to go buy chicken AFTER our table made their orders. Literally telling us someone had to run to the store to buy more chicken. I ordered the catfish platter which included 1 piece of fish and 1 side for $25. It was a miserable place and management sucked. 0/10

Two stars for the food. I ordered the catfish and shrimp meal, none of which was anything to write home about. Both the catfish and shrimp were heavily floured, with minimal seasoning. We also ordered hot wings, which were hard and seriously over cooked, we tried to eat them but decided our teeth were more important.To order, you must scan a QR code and order via the Toast app. Initially I wasn't thrilled by this process, but decided it was a convenient way to order. Plus, it made it easier to order additional items from the bar or kitchen. One problem with this method...our server didn't stop by our table to check to see if we needed anything else. We had to flag down other servers for items, such as eating utensils, glass for beer, napkins, hot sauce, etc. We did enjoy a fantastic concert, and I will return to enjoy others, but would not stop by to eat.

First let me say this is a nice spot for concerts, the set we listed to last she was great crowd was hype and she has a great voice. Server- our server Nik was great, very friendly, gave great drink recommendations and was definitely attentive to the tables.Food: When you check in on Yelp you do get 25% off of an appetizer. I will start with the drink Strawberry Hennessy..... oh yeaaa that was on point, had a nice kick to it. I was also to the Hand Grenade is also a great choice. I will start with the side, the green extreme spicy for me. To me the spiciness overpowered the flavor to get a taste of the greens. This one I had to send back which our server did ask if I wanted something else. The Mac and cheese was very bland slightly cheese flavor but no other seasoning. To the main course Seafood Portifino which was blacken catfish with lobster sauce. The blacken catfish did not have the blacken taste to it. Then shrimp was really good, the sauce had like a cheese taste. I was disappointed with the food. But I gave a 3 because I would go back for the drinks and live music. Nice for a date and a group of friends.

Staff and great, and my top shelf Margarita was too! I performed there for comedy night, and everyone was nice. The Owner made sure I was good. I'll be back!

When I say this is the place you WANT to be at it really is! I know in times past some may not have liked what they experienced but the NEW Sugar's is and will not disappoint! Great vibe and the owner ACTUALLY CARES about the people who come in! Thursdays is definitely a must go to also!

It is my understanding that Taste Bar Kitchen now Taste Sugarland has combined with Sugar's It saddens me to have to leave this review. I was hoping for better. My mother and I went to have lunch and with only 2 servers and 2 cooks...we waited for about 1.5 hours for our food. It also took a while for silverware to be brought to the table.We both ordered the taste of soul plate and some macaroni and cheese. When our food arrived, my sweet potatoes and my macaroni werent hot. The flavor was good it just wasn't hot. I asked the waiter to heat up my macaroni because it was cold. It took 30 minutes and me asking 2 more people about my macaroni before I actually received it. The ambiance of the place and service need a lot of work for those prices. I feel like the servers were doing the best they could and they were friendly... But the ability to deliver food in a timely fashion was lacking. The people next to us... All got their food except for one person who had to get it to go because they brought it out after the others were done. We watched a waitress flip a table cloth over rather than replacing it with a new one after a table left and the plates and glasses were cleared. We were very disappointed in the service and will not be back. I blame management for the lack of service. The new location needs a remodel and updating. New signage is also needed. The ability to order and pay online is clever, but that should make service even faster and it didn't. They added a 20% gratuity automatically and it was not a 20%/gratuity situation. I hope customers will demand better service and I hope this feedback will be put to good use to improve the customer experience for others.

This is a nice lounge type venue. Good for live jazz and small bands. The tables are pretty close together. The food didn't look very appealing so I didn't eat but looks like most people were ordering the fried catfish and wings from what I could see. The servers and bartender seemed pretty personable but again I didn't have any interaction.

Let's start with the positives...The side car are strong and food is good. the live music on Sunday is nice. There is a guy selling paintings there too. Gotta hustle right..Ok the service is slow, I wouldn't recommend this place for a large party. The food took about an hour to come out, the waiter didn't really know the drink specials or options. I assumed he was new. My rice was hard, and the catfish was pretty salty. they did not have etoufee to top my catfish. When I brought it to the waiter attention he was apologetic, and realized they ran out. And the owner was walking in the door to make it from scratch and will bring it to me.My party did enjoy their food, when they did receive it. No uniformity, waiters had du-rags, bubble jackets. I don't think I'll be back

When you're advertising a bourbon tasting, it's probably a good idea to have more than one bourbon to taste! My wife and I enjoy tastings of all kinds, but this was a first one selection tasting! I've had a lot of events there, and this place has consistently disappointed me in service and selection! But I will admit, the food is ok! Unless they are having a show at the place, I decline!
