I'd been hesitant to try Straight Out of Bangkok for a while now because of some less than favorable reviews. I'm SO glad I went with my gut this time. Finally, a Thai restaurant that isn't afraid of a little spice. We ordered dinner via DoorDash. The food came packaged well. Both the curry and Thai tea were thoughtfully secured in separate plastic bags. We chose a 2-3 spice level for each dish, and everything had the perfect amount of heat for us. The tiger cry beef had excellent flavor. The meat was nice and soft, permeated with a lovely marinade. The Panang curry was also spiced perfectly. With such a complex taste, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they made their curry blend from scratch (it's not actually all that common). The cheese puffs had a delicately thin, crisp wonton exterior and a good amount of cream cheese. Hell, even the Thai teas were great. I'd say second best I've had in Houston - very refreshing, not too sweet or heavy. Why not 5 stars? The rice was pretty dry, as was the white chicken meat in the curry and pad Thai. Nothing a good dousing of panang curry couldn't fix! I literally found myself shoveling curry into my mouth. Next time I'd probably just get dark meat chicken. Boom - dry chicken problem solved. With such bold flavors to back them, I can forgive a little dry chicken and rice. I look forward to ordering from them again!

Literally threw away the food... I ordered spicy shrimp fried rice and they put a big fried egg on top like they forgot to scramble it in. They got 2 stars because they gave us our pineapple fried rice in a pineapple although we threw it away too lol

I really wanted to love their food, but alas it was overall mediocre. Takeout or delivery only. The best thing we got was the **Yellow Curry**. It was delicious. Wish there was a more generous portion of meat in it- there was only a little. Fried garlic wings: a bit too salty for my taste but not bad. Pad Thai: wish it was more flavorful. The noodles were a bit dry. This dish tasted a lot better when I mixed it with some of their delicious yellow curry. Panang curry: super strong and super salty. Even after diluting the curry with milk (we didn't have coconut milk at home), it was still very strong and salty. I only had 2 bites. Didn't want more.Bottom line: if you order here, get the yellow curry.

Omg, there are no words to describe my experience with this place and their Thai food. It's authentic and they even have a real Thai lady that cooks it!!Even though it took a bit to get our food it was well worth it! My favorite plate is the Holy Basil!! Wow, talk about flavor. If I could give it 10 stars alone I would!! The garlic pepper steak and yellow curry, to die for, but just be careful what spice level you pick if you are worried about how spicy it is. I love spice, but I could only handle a 2! LolI also love that while you are waiting for your food you can grab a drink at the bar, while watching the game or listening to music. I'm so happy I found this diamond in the rough.

An aficionado of rad na and pad see ew. Always order them when there's a chance. Along with a good somtom, red curry, as a good barometer when trying a new place in American Thai. Still can't believe when I randomly walked by and saw a sign for Thai food in an all American Bar at a shopping strip that includes some of my old standards in SL...can watch the Rockets or MLB/MLS and enjoy libations with great Thai, nachos, burgers and above average bar fare. Both Radha and PSE turned out to be one of the best renditions. It was Smokey and balanced and had the right amount of brown bean paste (Thai douban, fermented soy bean). Radna's gravy has great thickness and consistency with the same smokiness. Red curry is full of favor and spices and the pad Thai is the benchmark in this area with great balance of tamarind and without the cloying sweetness and red coloring. Lunch specials came with a clean and crisp vegetable Tom yum and house egg rolls. One of the best values in the area at under nine bucks. This is a literal hole in the wall as it is a kitchen in the back of a bar helmed by an adorable Thai auntie that just arrived in Houston. Still can't believe this is some of the best Thai not just in sugarland but all of Houston. She's the only one there when I went and hope she doesn't get overwhelmed when the word gets out. Service was also excellent by the only server/bar tender Katie.

The beef satay flavor was on point, very small portion though. The Tom yum was basically chicken soup with some lime and mushrooms. It lacked lemongrass flavor and there were large celery chunks in it which completely overpowered the Tom yum broth. Celery does not belong in Tom yum . The soup in itself didn't taste bad, it was just very disappointing. I asked for 5/5 spice on 2/3 of the things that I ordered and they delivered, so kudos for that. We also ordered pad kee mao and not all of the noodles were coated in sauce. It lacked a traditional basil flavor and flavor in general. This restaurant is definitely not straight out of Bangkok. If you're expecting authentic, you'll be disappointed. If you're an average farang, then you'll probably like it. I would be willing to give it another try, maybe a curry this time.

So happy to find a delicious Thai spot so close to home! Would 10/10 recommend the pad see ew, yellow curry, red curry, and crab puffs.Would not recommend vegetable spring rolls. They were full of lettuce and not much else. Peanut sauce was more like an old peanut butter paste. Good portions and sustainable packaging. Anything that wasn't too wet came in cardboard. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

My boyfriend and I ordered ordered the Panang Curry and Red Curry. Cons: I put special order for Level 0 - no spice and my boyfriend ordered level 1. Neither of us are sensitive to spice, my boyfriend especially. But this was insane. It was a little ridiculously spicy for the levels we both picked. I was expecting no spice in mine but would have been okay with even just a little "kick" of spice.. but both levels had our mouths on fire⁉Pros: We loved the food, it was DELICIOUS! It was just too spicy. I wish they were able to make it a little less spicy, or no spice because we love the flavors of it. I got tofu and they hooked me UP!! we would definitely recommend this place to spice lovers.

The restaurant called this morning (likely because of this review) and offered to bring the beef salad with an added mango sticky rice. The beef salad was pretty tasty as was the mango rice.Because the restaurant redeemed themselves, my family of 7 will give this place another try and I'll definitely be ordering the beef salad.

First experience at this restaurant. Food was great and order more to go. The best part was to enjoy the service from Kasie. She was awesome and on top of my order. I would definitely come back when she is here. Been to several bars in sugarland and experiences hasn't been the same. She was on top of everything for the evening I was there. Chill place to have a drink and food.
