Stormin' Norman's Barbecue & Chicken

Had to select 1 star because they don't have zero. Worse ribs in my life, canned vegetables, butter beans were lima and cooked to mush with absolutely no seasoning. Collard greens were same no seasoning. Family of 4 and noone was happy with food. Poor quality and poor preparation. Caught us travelers and glad we aren't local and have to see all their propaganda. A Christian family that didn't need to be accosted when we got out of car to be saved.

I loved it....!!! Great food and good Sevice. Clean and a Christian owners ....If traveling up/down I95 and stop in Kenly for fuel, stop in and give 'em a look.....at least get a bbq sandwich for the road!

Really disappointed recently moved to the area read reviews had high hopesThis is a skip for us We asked staff what they recommend and we're told they have never eaten any of it so they guess bbq since it's a bbq restaurant Husband got bbq with potato salad and friesI got fried chicken curly fries and Mac n cheesePlates come with hush puppies Food tasted like reheat from grocery deli at best parts of chicken so dry inedibleOnly saving grace was hush puppies but not good enough to go back Husband said bbq almost inedible but potato salad edible

Here it's good but it's always closed except Friday -Sunday ?? I believe. Days I work. Always surpass it because it's always dark and closed during typical business hours. Food must be excellent if they can run on three day work weeks. I'm assuming of course.Update: 12/28/23Finally went when open. We are inside and it was fairly busy. Ordered their "famous bar-b-cue" and it was basically pork ribs. They had been sitting out for awhile. I know barbecue and when pork barbecue sets out too long and staying warm by lamps or heat trays, you can see the stagnation. Here's where things go further down hill. I really wanted to like it but my serving was over half gristle , bones and fat chunks. The little bit of meat was dry and very little sauce to help it. The staff appeared to simply not want to be there as most were teenagers. The fries that came with it were very bad. They were old and again, looked like they were under a heat lamp for way too long. Wife's order she had to throw away after two bites. The cole slaw, however tasted very unique to all other types I had and I liked it. Wife did not. I can only assume that as a guest , you'll want to get their early as they open perhaps to get freshly made ribs? Not sure but I can say it's been awhile since I've had food this bad to which most ended up in the garbage can. The bitter taste in my mouth from knowing I handed over almost $40 bucks for this didn't help the taste of the ordeal either. I live right down the road and was hoping for a really good spot to eat at on occasion and was impressed at just how many great reviews this place has. My true experience was the opposite of all the reviews I'd read. There's some dishonesty with the ratings of Stormin Normans. Seen it first hand now and it's a shame.

The only good thing i can say about this place is the price is low, oh and the sweet tea tastes like tea. Other then that I'm trying really hard to think if I've eaten at a bbq place worse than this one, and i try barbecue all over the country. Collard greens and yams were bland, pulled pork had no taste and was slimy, and everything was cold. My stomach turned when i ate this food and I regretted not stopping at the taco bell i seen, and thats saying something because taco bell is horrible. The staff was friendly so thats a plus, but the restaurant was filthy i could hardly see out of the windows they were so dirty, not to mention i had flys flying around my face and my food, so you can only imagine how the flys are in the kitchen. I definitely would never think of coming here again.

Went in for lunch today. There's no indoor seating because of the pandemic, but there is tables in front that are outside, but covered by a roof. The gentleman taking our order was super friendly. We ordered two fried chicken breasts, mashed potatoes and gravy, as well as coleslaw. The fried chicken was delicious, nice and crispy and excellent salty flavor. However, the chicken inside was not hot. The coleslaw was good and sweet, but tasted like it was from a store-bought factory made type. The mashed potatoes were okay, made from a powder mix. The gravy was better. The hush puppies were really good. I liked how small they were and I dipped them in my gravy.

This was a place we stopped at on a road trip. I am not Christian so that was an odd decoration for me. 10 commandments in the drive through and loads of anti vaccination signs. I am not offend by others views but I'd you are you want to choose someplace else. The food was ok. The lack of seasoning is a fault as well as box mashed potatoes were a huge no. I would not come here again.

This is a fantastic place to eat.Thier chicken is fabulous.The hush puppies are the best I've had anywhere so far.The employees are kind, considerate and helpful. If you've never tried it you are missing out.

We stopped here on a roadtrip and were looking for NC BBQ. It was refreshing that everything was homemade and treated like part of the family.
