Southern Suya

Southern Suya did an amazing job introducing me to West African cuisine. The cashier Yusuf, also did an amazing job guiding my friends and I through the menu. At the time, we decided to dine in, and the interior looked nice with clean tables and chairs. There was a little bit of a wait for the food to come out.I had decided to go with some Plantains, Beef Suya, with Jollof Rice, and Okra Stew that comes with the Pounded Yams (or Fufu I believe). First off, the Plantains are either a hit or miss, they aren't that sweet I had also gotten served one fresh and hot, and the second time was a bit cold. Beef Suya had so much flavor with its seasonings and pepper but it was a little tough to chew through. The Jollof Rice is just as good, it has the same flavoring profile being grilled and seasoned as the beef overall I felt it was a bit too much for my palette, I could've gone for coconut rice to be honest. The Okra Stew was good, it had a bit of a kick and heat to pair with the sort of bland Fufu the size of your palm. My friend got the 6-piece chicken wings with the Suya seasoning, the wings were seasoned perfectly, and tender, and crispy fries as well. Both times I visited the price was at least under $20 depending on what you ordered.

It's difficult to find great places that serve fufu and egusi, but this one is fantastic! I highly recommend it. The jollof rice and egusi were incredibly flavorful. I love it!

The food was decent we intended to eat there and take food to go. During that time our car window was broken out and items stolen. The portions were small maybe if we ate there it would have been larger. It took awhile for the food to be prepared. The location had nice decor I noticed more people ordering to go orders. Total was almost 80$, dude didn't even give a discount with us waiting almost 2 hours and the whole car thing. He was good at finessing us to try this try that. I'm really only interested in red stew, wish I knew someone that could make me a large amount at a good price

Great food and loved the chill vibes of the restaurant. Being Nigerian, I am critical of trying other people's food but this did not disappoint! Will definitely be returning.

I had no idea what beef suya was but I was amazed at how good it is. Warning that it's spicy though. The coconut rice came with a red stew sauce that was delicious as well. I will definitely go back again.I gave it 5 stars because I like to support food that's beyond the ordinary.

The food here was mind blowing. So much flavour in every single item we had. The stew sauce was my favourite.

They do not do dine in. We came all the way from Atlanta to try this twice, and the food was on point both times. We had the grilled fish, goat, egusi stew, yam. All of it on point.

The restaurant is now located at Northlake. They are currently open for take out only. I I had the super swarmed. It's folded in a wrap and has lamb, chicken, beef hotdog with warm spices. The coleslaw brings it all together. It's so good. The personnel are friendly and full of information concerning the foods. They offer great advice. It's a comfortable place to wait on your food. It's very comfortable and inviting I will be excited when they have dining room open. Jodie

The food is tasty and has a kick of spice to it. The service was perfect. Eating in this place is relaxing and clean place to it

Southern Suya could be more helpful when inquiring about their menu selections. I called to find out what soups or stews they had and was told to check the online menu. I hung up and they won't be getting my money this evening!
