Southern Ice

Tucked away in a quaint little plaza off Kuykendahl in the Creekside Park area is a small restaurant housed in what used to be Fuddrucker's - affectionately named Southern Ice. When you walk in - it still looks like it's old inhabitants, however the vibe is more draft and sports. There's a hostess stand that says please seat yourself, yet they are there asking how many need to be seated - a bit confusing. The food was decent! Not my idea of a "good meal" but it wasn't too bad. My boys didn't care for a few things (fries were soggy and overly salted and the salad was not fresh), and my salmon came nearly raw the first time (I asked for well-done). The manager was notified and graciously fixed it and offered my kiddos some dessert for their troubles - and without attitude - so it wasn't a full flop. That said - it was kinda' pricey. And as such, it just wasn't a hit for me. Adding to that - our waitress wasn't very present. She never shared any specials, didn't ask if we had visited before, nor did she stop by frequently to check on us. A couple times I had to flag her down for things - including getting clean dishes and silverware, as we were given dirty ones. Would I come back? Maybe. Definitely not my first choice - nor my kids.

Nice to have this slightly above-average sports bar in Creekside. It was a packed dining room; hence service was a bit haphazard. Eventually, the service's wrinkles were smoothed out.I had been looking forward to the loaded fries and was disappointed in the result. The fries were not crunchy, and, rather than smothering them with nacho cheese, they sprinkled shredded cheese over the dish, so it wasn't truly nachos. I would love to see this dish become epic with wonderfully crunchy fries,, silky rich queso, and lots of zesty taco meat.The fish and chips were average, albeit slightly unders-seasoned. My friend said her fried chicken was "okay."

Food & service was good. The catfish had a good seasoning and the hush puppies were good, but would love to see an offering of jalapeño hush puppies in the future. The turkey club sandy was traditional and fresh. The seasoned fries were tasty and definitely my daughter's favorite of the meal. If you've read my reviews before, you know my kids don't prefer gourmet Mac and cheese, although my daughter ate about half before deciding it was "too fancy" we thought it was good.The restaurant is big and not too loud. Parking was easy and there is outdoor seating for nicer weather. We will come back sometime to try the burgers.

Well friends, since I first found this gem of a restaurant, sports bar.... I've frequented this place so often I suppose I can call myself a 'regular'. The service, from MARWAN, the bartender, to the manager AMBER and hosts, etc, all are exceptionally friendly and service oriented. I LOVE (dream about even) the SMASHBURGER! But, MARWAN and my friend convinced me to try the chicken sandwich. OH MY GOSH, the CHICKEN SANDWICH with fries is truly delicious. The evening bar atmosphere is hopping in the Woodlands. The afternoon sports games have chill vibes at the bar. The restaurant seats plenty of families or groups of friends very comfortably. Still loving this place!

We went here thinking it was still Fuddruckers but a few months ago it turned into this place. What a nice surprise. My burger was delicious and my husband really enjoy his fried chicken. This place is reasonable priced and has a good menu selection. Definitely a keeper!

We've come to love this place. We've been to dinner 3 times. The ambience is great especially for dinner, some beers and watching the Astros. The servers have all been attentive and fun. The trio is a great app. The burgers and French dip are delicious. Give them a shot. I'll take pics and add the next time we're there.

Amazing food! The bayou linguine is so good! Most places give you a bunch of pasta and a couple pieces of shrimp, but not this place. they fill up the plate with meat to go with the pasta and the food was seasoned really well. Flavor in every bite. I would highly recommend this place.

Excellent service by my guy Justin, so I will definitely be back for the fried chicken. The banana pudding and Oreo ice box cake was sold out, so I have to come back.

Did not take photos but I had the fried chicken and my husband had the chicken fried steak. Chicken was not greasy, had great flavor. The red beans and rice were good as well. Beans were a little thick but had a good flavor. Chicken fried steak was excellent. Could cut it with a fork. Crust wasn't overbearing. Green beans were a little crunchy for his liking but they also had a great flavor. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely visit again.

Everyone has a bad day, but Saturday 4/27 they must of had the worst kitchen staff we've ever experienced there. Nobody ate more than a few bites and after the crawfish came back horrible the second time we left to eat elsewhere.This is definitely not the norm here but seems like the cat was away and there was lots of play
