Nice little cafe located in Lafayette Village with indoor and outdoor seating. Had the hot jerk chicken and very favorable, wife had the French Dip and finished with drinking the remainder of the Au Jus. Bottom line - great freshly made food and great service

When you're famished on the road for business, sometimes it's tough to choose where to snag a quick lunch. Fortunately, this place popped right up on the map, and allegedly they're award-winning, so i figured it was worth a try. I was greeted by 3 super friendly, welcoming workers who made me feel like I was grabbing lunch with an uncle. (But like a cool uncle that you would actually want to get lunch with and hear his stories. Not a questionable, problematic uncle that you only see against your will on thanksgivings.) Anyway...I ordered a hot Turkey Reuben, primed with swiss, kraut, and honey mustard. I've always gotten my turkey reubens made with a thousand island dressing, so I was a little skeptical about the flavor profile of honey mustard with kraut. But alas, they're allegedly an award-winning institution, so I should just trust their choices, right? My sandwich came out piping hot. I took a single bite and had an immediate mental update. The flavors DID, in fact, make sense. Trust earned.Fantastic sandwich. Fantastic stories. Fantastic vibes. Their wall said "award-winning sandwiches", and I feel (relatively) qualified to verify that statement now.

Sandwiches here are absolutely incredible. I was CRAVING something to heal me (I went out drinking last night for my bday) and this did the TRICK. The people are also so nice that took our order. Highly recommend if you are in need of a sub. They also have outdoor seating which is nice. Love you, Southern Craft Butcher

My wife and I were en route to pick up some furniture from OfferUp and had a hankering for a scrumptious sandwich. Hailing from California, where fantastic sandwiches are a dime a dozen, we decided to give Raleigh's sandwich scene a whirl. Walking into the store, we were pleasantly surprised to find it empty, meaning we zipped straight to the front of the line. Our eyes were fixed on the Italian sandwich because, well, we're big fans of the Italian variety. The guy at the counter endorsed it as his personal fave and a crowd-pleaser, so that sealed the deal for us. We ordered a full-sized Italian to share and settled in for a brief wait, which turned out to be shorter than expected. They whipped up our sandwich in a jiffy, and we decided to take our feast to go, thinking of having a picnic by the park in the plaza. However, when we reached the plaza, all the seats were occupied, so we circled back to the sandwich joint to chow down. Here's the minor bummer - in the less-than-10-minute trip from counter to table, the top piece of bread got a tad soggy. We're not fans of soggy bread, but sometimes, it's hard to avoid, right?Thankfully, the sandwich's flavor came through in a big way. The pepperoncinis or banana peppers delivered a punch, although the garlic aioli was a bit shy on our taste buds. The bread, though, was a winner, striking the perfect balance between soft and crispy, or should I say soft and chewy. The ambience of the establishment was simple and straightforward. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience. The soggy bread hiccup aside, the sandwich had us grinning. We'll be back to sample more of their sandwich lineup for sure!

Very good sandwiches and the bread is amazing!! I almost asked if we can purchase their bread. It is a far drive for us, but it is worth it! The only complaint I have is that the lettuce is very wet. It wasn't so much soggy, but shredded lettuce that's prepackaged tends to get wet like that.

There are great reviews about this place so I wanted to try. Philly cheesesteak really lacked flavor. The bread was very soft and good. I had to add salt and some seasoning to the meat itself once I did that it was a great sandwich. I will go back because I wouldLike to try a cold sandwich.

The best sandwich shop in Raleigh! Cooked fresh to order, the bread is to die for! My favorite is the steak & cheese. My friends is the buffalo chicken. We both tried the spicy jamaican jerk chicken today & it was phenomenal! The service is also the best :)

Quick review here. I stopped in here two weeks ago for a "cheat" day Philly Cheesesteak that I heard from others was delicious. They were right! I was a solo act today with my wife gone for the weekend and our teenage son out doing the "teenager" thing. Anyway, Southern Craft has a really nice sandwich and burger menu (a burger will be tried next time) with an assortment of accompanying sides or chips. I didn't see canned or bottled sodas but they do have a soda dispensary in the back of the store. I think my last visit here was when it was a full fledged butcher shop pre pandemic, not sure though. You are seeing a lot of reviews here with those words "pre pandemic." It was a nice day so I sat outside. The sandwich was really good. It is close to an authentic Philly Cheesesteak that you would get say in Philly. The bread it comes on is different but good none the less. The ingredients are fresh and it was cooked perfectly. Definitely consider Southern Craft a dining option when visiting Lafayette Village in Raleigh.
