South Texas Roost

New restaurant in El Campo. A beautiful location with covered patio, a playground, picnic tables seating inside and outside with a few hightops. I am not sure if this is a soft opening but the sign on the door said they are only open during lunch hours until 3 or 4pm I believe, until further notice. When we walked in there were plenty of people dining in. A host greeted and seated us. Our server Ms. V came by to take our orders. She explained items on the menu and allowed me to sample their BBQ sauce. They have chicken and BBQ sandwich options but also pimento cheese sandwiches too. I liked the BBQ sauce so I ordered the Roost Burger. It was a nice sized burger. The buns were lightly toasted, plenty of meat, and your choice of toppings. I think the burger was just fine to me but it wasn't bad at all. I got full off of half of it. For the side I got their mac & cheese and a sample of the pimento cheese. The mac & cheese was really good and seasoned. I really enjoyed it! The pimento cheese was good as well. They also have one with jalapeños. I would definitely try their pimento cheese sandwich, chicken, & fries in the future.

Enjoyed our first of many visits! Chase was very welcoming and friendly. Did a good job of going over the menu. Kept our drinks filled also! Made a few menu suggestions which we appreciated! Food was fresh and good portioned! Homemade family recipe chicken salad! 1/2 chicken plate was also very tasty. Try the Mac n' cheese~ wonderful flavor! We will be back soon!
