Had a nice intimate ambiance. I arrived close to closing and still received excellent service at the bar. The she-crab soup was phenomenal. The Carolina trout had some of the best crispy skin I've had on fish.

Came here on a rainy Thursday dinner and we were able to be seated upstairs pretty quickly where it was more quiet and intimate. The server was super nice and gave a good menu breakdown. Bread rolls were served as appetizers and it was soft, warm, and tasted great with butter. We ordered additional appetizers including she crab soup and chicken livers. The soup was very good; creamy and spicy, with chunks of crab, and topped with olive oil. The chicken livers were hit or miss depending on the part. Some parts were very crispy and topped with flavorful sauce, while other bites were soft, bland, and too strong of plain liver taste. Loved the corn it came with too The main courses were as exciting. The fried chicken had decent crispy skin but some bites of the chicken was a bit dry. Came with creamy mashed potatoes and solid flavors on the collards. The pork chop did have good smoky flavor but again was a bit too dry especially the leaner non fatty parts. Came with peas, which had a slightly sweet and tangy flavor I've never had on peas before.Quantity wise it was great, the portions were huge and we were beyond full and had to take some of the food to go. Funny enough the pork and peas tasted better after microwaving the next day.

We missed pictures of our appetizers and drinks but the fried green tomatoes are a must try. The crab cake was also very well prepared. This restaurant has inside and outside seating. For a Wednesday evening, the crowd was pretty intense. Service was great. This is a midtown go to

I was in work for a quick work trip and saw the ratings (4.6/5 and 3000 reviews) and had to try South City KitchenLet's say I was not displeased. I came in for lunch and they were decently busy. Inside is a bit "classier" and outside on the patio is a bit more casual. They had plenty of fans outside which made it a surprisingly relaxing experience. The waitstaff was inexplicably nice and knowledgeable about the food. I ordered (and my colleagues ordered) the Nashville Chicken Sandwich with fries. It was a great price of chicken with a smoky spicy sauce. The fries were good enough for sure, but not necessarily my favorite. The meal also comes with buttermilk biscuits and cornbread for an appetizer. 100% recommend for a good sandwich at a good price with good service.

South City Kitchen is one of my go-to restaurants whenever I'm in Atlanta. I had a team dinner with my colleagues at this location on my most recent visit, and everything was solid. Here's a quick rundown of my experience: Service - Superb! Our server appeared to be seasoned, well-trained, and completely on point. Despite the restaurant being crowded, service was fast, efficient, and plates were cleared soon after everyone finished their meal.Food - The server overhyped the fried chicken. I think he said they won second best fried chicken in the US. It was indeed a great dish, but I've had crunchier and better seasoned fried chicken in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Don't get too big for your britches, South City Kitchen. Lol... Also, the collard greens, fried green tomatoes appetizer (not pictured), and complimentary cornbread (not pictured) were all delicious!Ambiance - The Midtown location of South City Kitchen has lots of character. The old building, patio, and overall design of the space felt a lot like the iconic restaurants in the New Orleans French Quarter. Unfortunately, the building does have poor acoustics, and this was one of the loudest meals I've had in a long time as a cacophony of background chatter filled the entire space.

This restaurant is located in Midtown, so be prepared to pay for parking. Fortunately, there's a parking garage conveniently located right across from the restaurant. The space is small, but they manage to seat people efficiently. The service was excellent--the staff was accommodating and kind throughout. As for the food, while none of my dishes stood out, it's still worth visiting at least once to try it for yourself. I wasn't a fan of the mixed drinks, so I opted for wine instead.

I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night and there was a 15 minute wait.Biscuit & Cornbread - the biscuit was very fluffy and buttery. The cornbread was soft, fluffy, and had bits of corn in it to add some texture. It wasn't as gritty as other cornbreads which I liked.Fried green tomatoes - I'm not a huge fan of goat cheese but I really liked how all the flavors worked together. The tanginess of the marinara balanced the goat cheese well.Cornmeal Spoonbread - the beef was mostly tender but some pieces were dry. The cornmeal base had a similar texture to an egg frittata. The dish had a lot of flavor.Peach Salad - all the flavors worked well together surprisingly. I really liked the peach yogurt and the slices of peaches. It was a refreshing salad.Springer Mountain Farms Fried Chicken - the flavor was good but the chicken was very dry. The collard greens were okay but lacked flavor. The mashed potatoes were some of the best mashed potatoes I've had surprisingly. It was smooth and creamy with a little bit of potato chunks and skin.

This is a fair place for the cost of the food. I would say the fried chicken is similar to any other fried chicken; there are much better places that charge a lot less than what the fried chicken was priced here. The dining area is quite nice, but I would say the price of the food was extremely overpriced. The king biscuit was tasty though, but the rest were average.
