Yummmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!This food is so good. I ordered on-line and picked it up at the Durham Farmers Market. The food was all frozen which was great for packing up and taking home to Buffalo. I made the enchiladas the same day and the rest came home with me.The squash and poblano enchiladas were amazing. There're smothered in a creamy cashew based white sauce and stuff with seasoned saucy butternut squash, chopped poblanos, and navy beans. They were excellent and my non-vegan sister who has very high flavor standards thought so as well. The love of my life, who can be picky at times, tasted them as well and thought they were good. When I got back home I tried the pastel de yuca stuffed with black beans and rice. I put it in the air fryer for 15 minutes at 300 degrees and it was perfect. The instructions were for oven or microwave, but I think I made the right choice. It was big and tasty though I did steal some of the slaw that goes with the papusas for a little crunch and brightness.I also got tamales and the aforementioned papusas, but I they're still in the freezer.HIGHLY recommend. You can get it hot at the farmers market but if you want 100 things like I did, order ahead and either get it delivered for $5 or choose a pick-up site.

Absolutely delicious pandemic takeout! Everything is vegan and gluten free, and made with love by Silvana and her team. Some of our favorites - tamales (I like the smokey pinto ones best)- mushroom and kale polenta lasagna (pure comfort)- enchiladas- roasted plantains - salsaIt's so nice to have something ready to go during the work week. I keep everything in the freezer and take it out the morning I plan to eat it. The tamales can be cooked from frozen easily. Everything comes with easy heating instructions. I like to air fry the plantains to crisp them up a bit more.We normally do delivery on Friday for our orders but have also picked them up at the Carrboro Farmer's market.

The best pandemic take-out/delivery, plant-based, latin food ever.I've always been a fan of Silvana's food since even back in the day when it was just a farmer's market hidden gem (I guess it still kinda is). Not sure why I took so long to write a review, but I think this pandemic reminded me why her food is so good: her food is highly affordable, highly nutritious, freezes very well, and most of all it's DELICIOUS.For people who need suggestions or are just starting out on Latin plant-based food, I think this is a good selection to start with:Taco Kit:Super delicious and easy to put together. The key is warming up a tortilla properly (don't eat with cold tortillas!). The salsa is sooo good and I think the barbacoa filling would delight even meat lovers.Mushrooms & Kale Polenta Lasagna:The best. This is like the dish you bring to a party and 1 year later people will still be talking about it.Tamales:They are amazing. The fillings are great, but sriracha is my personal fav. The masa surrounding the fillings is flavorful (sometimes I like to sprinkle extra salt on mine). Also, tamales made with banana leaves aren't the easiest thing to find.Roasted plantains:Simple and delicious! Sometimes other places make this and they cook it to where it almost becomes mush. This has body to it. You can also torch this and caramelize the sugars more. YUM!Yucca Gnocchi with lemon cauliflower sauce:I've always been a fan of this dish. So delicious. What's super cool is that yucca has a lower glycemic index than potato, so this is perfect for gnocchi lovers who want to cut down on potatoes.Enjoy![written while eating a tamale]

This lil place is tucked away inside of a public market building along with several other vendors who cater to both vegan and regular foods but heavy on the vegan which was awesome to me since I dont eat meat. Soul Cocina was highly recommended to me by my daughter so I had to stop by there. The food is made to order, I chose vegan Barbados tacos. They were pretty food, but the plantains were delicious. I literally bought 2 just based off how good it looked. I was slightly disappointed in my tacos because the tortilla shell was cracking and broken so I couldn't pick it up or it would have fallen apart. I'm not sure if it wasn't cooked or what but normally when I get fish tacos out they double up the taco. I would suggest that to soul cocina. I would have enjoyed it much more if I didn't have to eat a it with a fork.

They delivered some delicious food to us a few weeks back. We miss seeing them at the farmer's market, but it was great to get tamales and plantains delivered. We got two sets of tamales - we ate one and kept the other one frozen for later. They heated up well and were super tasty. I love the black bean, spinach, and olive tamales. The plantains were scrummy.I really appreciate that they drove the food to our house and will definitely get delivery again.

SO GOOD! I'm both gluten-free and dairy-free so these arepas were PERFECT! Big portions and inventive dishes. I got the chickpea and artichoke arepas which was so yummy. The arepas are thin and crispy and tasty. I've had lots of arepas that are doughy with little flavor but these are waaaay different. DO NOT MISS the plantains and yuca puffs!!

Located within the Blue Dogwood Public Market, Soul Cocina offers vegan Colombian eats. I applaud them for making treats such as arepas, tamales, and pasteles vegan. However, the food is expensive for the portion size and what I recently ordered needs more internal flavor.I had gotten the yucca pastel. Already knowing that yucca has minimal flavor on its own, I was glad to see that the pastel came with a salsa to heighten the flavor of the rice and lentil filling. Still, I wish the pastel filling had more salt and spice. Also, it was a hearty dish, but it was expensive at the $7+ price point. I don't have a large appetite typically, but this would not fill up a usual adult, and spending more money on a lunch would be less than ideal. The people behind the counter though were so energetic and friendly! That was refreshing.Bottom line: I will be back to try more eats, but due to the price, it may be a while. I may go for a tamale next time, because the fillings sound more flavorful.

Heads up PARKING is TOUGH in the lot during weekday lunch! Be ready to wait to get a spot or pay to park at a nearby lot. Store is located in the Blue Dogwood Food Hall, so in a shared space w/ other restaurants. Good for casual quick lunch or to-go food. There's also a patio outside. The food's flavor is 5 stars. Savory, home-cooked taste. Especially liked the pasteles de yuca with salsa. The tamale with chickpeas pretty good, would get the pasteles again though. Portions are waaay too small for the price point, so that's a 4 star. I wasn't full after the yuca so had a tamale too, but that came in at around $16! (Each was $7.25). Too expense for a lunch, would not be back on the regular.I think considering this is less restaurant and more casual, and current portion sizes, they need to drop pasteles de yuca/food to a lower price point ~$5, or include a side and much more food and up price point to something like $8.50 or $9.

Hands down the best vegan food I've had, and, in my opinion, well worth the price given the quality. I've had great vegan food in NYC, Seattle, San Fran, and this small kitchen in Chapel Hill really surprised me with it's authentic and flavorful Latin-inspired food. Silvana, the owner, is clearly really passionate about the food she creates and it's well reflected by how delicious everything on the menu is. I'll be very happy to continue supporting an awesome local vegan joint.

This place seems to have amazing ratings and everyone loves it but it left me looking for more. It was $7 for two tacos that weren't anything special. Most vegan places make me think about how I could just have made it at home. It was good food, the lady was very friendly and it's great to have a 100% vegan Taco place but it could be a little more flavor going on or some kind of side dish. Just more bang for my buck you know.
