I'm impressed! Delicious fried fish, onion rings, french fries and cole slaw. And the house-made tartar sauce is good, and the house-made cocktail sauce is the best I've had at a restaurant. My dining partner and I ordered a 2-item combo with two sides. We each got the fried cod/haddock and fried baby shrimp (a little extra cost for the shrimp). For sides, we ordered fries and onion rings, with additional side of cole slaw. A platter arrived at our table that was absolutely huge. Three large pieces of fried cod/haddock, a generous portion of popcorn shrimp, fries, onion rings/straws and three hush puppies. Oh my goodness. I thought maybe they had combined two platters for one presentation. But it was single 2-item combo ($17.99) , big enough for sharing . . . And some to take home. And not just huge, but delish. The cod/haddock had a nice crunch, the fish meat was flaky and delicious and the batter was fried perfectly with a nice flavor. The popcorn shrimp were tasty. Some places rely on sauces to overcome mediocre dishes. (Sometimes you see that at BBQ joints that rely on their BBQ sauces to mask their "meh" meat.). Here, though, the struggle was different. Here, the fish was so good on its own, with the cocktail and tartar sauces also so good, that it was a difficult choice whether to eat the fish alone or dipped in a sauce. The onion rings/straws were good. The fries were outstanding. A large portion of perfectly cooked potato. For me, the hush puppies were the weak part of the meal and disappointing. Everything else was so good and the hush puppies, to me, were bread-y and lacked flavor. The Cole slaw was delicious too. I like the vibe of the place. It's not fancy, but is friendly. There's a nautical motif that is kind of kitch. But I like it. I'm from out of town and wish we had a Skipper's near us.

There were 5 of us here to celebrate Father's Day. They were busy but we had no trouble finding a table. There are tables inside and outside. Two of us ordered the fish and chips but I substituted the fries for green beans. The fish had a great batter on it and the serving was large. The green beans were delicious and it came with hush puppies. I would get this again, it was really a great meal. Another got the large shrimp platter with onion rings and that serving was huge. Another got the whiting and loved it but was a smaller portion and the batter on the fish was different than mine. Several got Cole slaw and it looked amazing. Sweet tea was good and is self serve at the front of the restaurant where you order. We stayed over an hour and someone came and took our baskets away but we did not feel rushed to leave. I'm glad the one dad we celebrated chose Skippers .

Solid fried seafood here. Seating outside was actually nice, if weather permits, and the inside was a bit dark and plain. We ordered the fried cod, large shrimp, clam strips, french fries, onion rings, cole slaw, fried okra and pulled pork.I pretty much enjoyed everything. Cole saw was nice way to cut through the grease. I would say that I was absolutely stuffed for hours afterwards. It's a bit on the heavy side.

Overall - great spot to grab some fried fish. All sorts of different varieties of fish from simple fried shrimp, cod and catfish. The service is counter ordering and the staff is extremely friendly. I'll put their fried shrimp and cod in the same category as 42nd Street downtown. Worth a trip and a great staple in Apex.

I had a brisket sandwich and my husband fish and chips. The brisket was really good and soft. The fish was delicious! I have never had a fish fry like this. Their tartar sauce is great too. This order is plenty for at least two people I think. We loved that their cashiers are so nice, kind and respectful. The place has tables inside and air conditioning. It was great having the opportunity to have lunch in here while our car windshield is being repaired close by.

Needed a lunch, not my usual route, so I enjoy trying new to me places.Originally thinking "to-go", but rain hit, so I enjoyed inside. Had the fish tacos, 2 in an order so had one grilled, one fried. Made it a plate and chose slaw and fries. Their slaw is minced fine and flavorful. The celery seed comes through. The fries. Hot! Yum. Their tarter sauce must be housemade, as it was delightful as I dipped the fries. The tacos had a great Pico, cilantro topping, so I didn't add tarter sauce. Brewed unsweetened iced tea was great. They offer Pepsi fountain products. They do not offer anything steamed, only fried or broiled. I'd eat here again. Staff were friendly and could answer questions well. The entrance area gives the impression it's a take out only joint, but just passed the beverage station is a full dining area.

This was awful! This is NOT the quality I've come to expect from Skippers. ALL the foods on this plate looked and tasted the exact greasy same with zero seasoning. Swimming in dirty grease that needed to be changed. This platter was $15! A complete waste of my hard earned money. During a time where the cost of goods and services is rising steadily, so should the QUALITY of your product. Most people won't take the time to complain they'll let their feet speak for them by walking into other restaurants where their money is respected with quality and taste. The two top reasons we eat out instead of cooking, quality and taste. The cost would be fine if the food justified such a price. That meal was definitely NOT a reflection of the cost.

Smallest catfish I've seen, guess they're used to people out here not fishing lol it's literally half of one fish sliced into fours. Good taste but not enough at all for the price

Super fast and friendly service. I like that you can get a fish fry but not just on Fridays. The fried fish is delicious with a light, fresh batter. The hush puppies weren't overcooked and tasted delicious. The fish tacos are a great option if you want grilled fish instead of fried. Your choice of cod, Mahi, or haddock. The clam chowder is New England style and very tasty with a generous helping of clams and small diced potatoes. Order inside and they bring your food out even on the patio. Will be back.

Updated review. Gave Skipper's another try, getting takeout this time. The sampler platter was so good! The breading adhered to the fish/seafood, it was seasoned well, and everything was cooked nicely. Very glad we gave this another shot because we were pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed our meals & how different it was from our first experience there. Looking forward to going back and trying the bbq sometime too!
