I don't understand the bad reviews. I was recently at SFU and had a great experience. This location is just as good as the previous location if not better. The patio is great and the inside is nice. I ordered the fish and chips (fries) and thought they were great. The fish was nice and flaky and crispy. I would definitely recommend them. The Po Boy looked great as well. We sat at the bar so the service was relatively quick. We didn't wait too long for anything. I will definitely be back.

Cane back and spent more money. A 20 percent service fee is added to checks over $100. Separate from gratuity. Makes no sense and is a dealbreaker for me. Won't be back.

I used to love this place, 7-8 years ago. Tried the new location and it was just blah. Sometimes the saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it......is very true! I really didn't enjoy the food. The server was a kind young woman.

The service was good and the ambiance was beautiful. Outdoor patio lunches are always great when the weather is good . Just was disappointed in the food. The gumbo was the worse I've had. It's definitely not the traditional brown brew most are accustomed to with Cajun dishes . It was more green and very oniony and peppery . It reminded me of a chicken chili with added shrimp and sausages . The green tomatoes were slimy and barely breaded . I've eaten here before and never had this experience with the food or maybe o order the wrong items .. our catfish entire was good and the gator bites were but they were fired so it's tough to messy those up. Maybe next time I'll have a different experience.

I have been here a handful of times now and the service is good, as is the food. I love what they did to transform a so so restaurant space into a much nicer ambiance than before. I had the fried shrimp and oysters basket, and the shrimp were tasty, but the oysters (much to my surprise were a bit bland and mushy. Yes I know an oyster is soft to start with, but the oysters were not that great in taste and texture. I will be back as all of the dishes that I have tried so far have been good. I just won't be getting the fried oysters again.

This location newly opened. The space is huge and I'm loving the vibe. Unfortunately, the service was slow and the waitress kept calling me "girl", which was annoying cause I'm literally grown AF. Anywho, I ordered the catfish basket with seafood boil sides (corn, potato, sausage) and it was delicious. The sausage was especially tasty and for only $22, I got a lot of food. I'll def come again.

A small simple bar and restaurant was my first impression. I chose to sit outside because it was cooler inside. I was seated and greeted by my server shortly after. I got the three combo taco platter with chicken, shrimp, and catfish as my options. I substituted the chips for fries. Everything was really good, fresh, and tasty. I also got a Scofflaw-Basement IPA on draft. No complaints at all on the food. I'm giving a four because my server was slow and I didn't like the pay option. I'm not sure why my server was so slow with me but it would've been nice if she checked in a little more with me as a single person eating alone. I paid by QR code but I wanted to actually pay with my card so I could tip more. There were only three options it would let me pick from with the QR code which I thought was weird. My server told me after I paid that I could've actually paid with card. So yeah it would've been nice to know that before. I'm not sure why the ratings are so low but the food was great. Could just be better service.

What worked: Lovely patio with a seaside pub feel. Our server was friendly and attentive. The house made chips are solid.What didn't work: The blackened grouper sandwich was bad. Texture was rubbery. It tasted a bit too fishy, to the point I almost and probably should have sent it back, and otherwise it just tasted salty. I've had better from fast food restaurants.

Food is expensive, which would be fine if it was good. Service was ok, not great. Steak was ordered medium, served rare to medium rare. Steak was chewy and gristle-y. I've now been to SFU 4 times in my life (at multiple locations) and had a really good meal 1/4 of those times. I think it's time to hang it up. This is a place to go out with a large group and have drinks. It's not a place to get a great meal.
