I'm not sure how to go about writing a review for Equinox Studios; it's not an art gallery or a typical studio but it's a collective of artist that do incredible work from heavy industrial to delicate bead making. They had their open house yesterday and most of the artists had their work up for display and sale. The moment I stepped in I had this yearning, longing, to be an artist. My medium would be mixed materials with a focus on concrete, wood and steel. To my luck, I got to talking with an artist after my own heart who had some awesome pieces. I was drawn to his work like a slutty, teenage groupie to a hair-rock band. (Hopefully there was a modicum of grace...) I was most impressed by the blacksmiths and metal workers. The sheer nature and scale of their work was awe-inspiring. But the cherry on top was seeing the plasma cutter in action! This baby cut through metal like hot knife through butter. Whoa!If they have another open house, it is a must-go event!

What an amazingly cool place! We we went over last night for their annual holiday open house. I had not been aware of this place previously and am so glad I had the chance to check them out.Equinox Studios is located in an old industrial building in Georgetown. It is now home to dozens of art studios representing a myriad of disciplines: blacksmithing, metalworks, pottery, photography, woodworking, and many more. We had a chance to talk to several of the artists and artisans. All were clearly passionate about their particular craft and seemed to really enjoy talking about and demonstrating the work involved in taking a blank canvas, or lump of clay, or sheet of metal and ending up with art. Oh, and these people are all so talented. These are professionals who have been honing their craft for years and create beautiful, innovative and high quality works.According to their web site, Equinox Studios is open every second Saturday as part of Georgetown's Art Attack. I'd definitely recommend stopping by...

Randomly ended up here for their holiday open house and WOW!! This place is so cool. Amazing variety of unique art, artist and venue. This huge industrial building is slightly like a maze that each room you wonder into has a very friendly artist willing to answer any questions, surrounded by their wonderful art work. The holiday open house was so awesome with food trucks, music, wine, beer, and all the art you could ever want to see! I plan to visit every year for the open house!

Equinox Studio had an Open House for Xmas presents. I enjoyed seeing the numerous Artists, Metal works, Iron Art for Burning Man. I saw Nobi and The Force perform too. They were at the Summer Open House too. There are more Artists here than in Pioneer Sqr's Artwalk here in Georgetown. They got some crowds but more people go to Pioneer Sqr monthly. There were a few Food Teucks there. They had two Bonfires. But at least it was not rainy hard to watch the Live Entertainment.

One of my friend's invited me to Equinox Studios Open House Holiday party last weekend. It was a sight to see! With blue twinkle lights strung above our heads, trash can fire pits, and people milling around, enjoying art and music, it was a very fun and festive atmosphere! The fire pits were a nice touch, especially for how cold it was that night. There were a few food trucks there, all seemed pretty busy. The art space seems massive here! We wandered through a couple of spaces and enjoyed all the artwork. Will definitely have to come back and check it out again!

For three years in a row I've been checking out Equinox Studios for their massive holiday party. While the various studios here are open all throughout the year, the holiday party is a big open house designed at showing off nearly all of the artist's spaces while hosting art fans from around the city. There's live music, wine, beer, food and of course art, in tons of mediums! The studio spaces run from teeny tiny to generous and straight up huge! Some spaces are ideal for woodworking and even metalworks while others (upstairs) are quieter and better suited for painters, sculptors and so on.If I could get back into painting again, I'd definitely want to rent a studio here. Not only does the art community seem really tight knit in Georgetown, it's also just a really peaceful and creative space to hang out.

Check out Equinox during Art Attack on the second Saturday of every month in Georgetown. Also, their December Open House event is amazing and their set up at the Georgetown Carnival is the best!
