The worst Indian food I've ever had, and it took forever and tasted like chicken. Disgusting.

I like Savory Plate for their fast casual Indo-Mexican food offerings. It's a local neighborhood establishment that also has a Brown's Chicken (originally in Northbrook, IL) as a part of their restaurant. On my visit, I did a dinner carry out of three tacos and some chicken wings. I ordered a chicken tinga, shrimp, and cauliflower + paneer, tacos. I also asked for a side of coriander + mint sauce. The chicken tinga and the cauliflower + paneer tacos were pretty good, and the shrimp taco was nice in taste. I liked how the tacos were loaded with all the trimmings. I received good service. The pricing was reasonable. Savory Plate is definitely a unique establishment to check out, and it adds to the restaurant scene of Wheeling.

Indian Tacos! Definitely a first having butter chicken, onions, cilantro, on a warm corn tortilla. But it won't be our last! With the savory sauces, the chicken tikka and paneer tacos we ordered were also delightful experiences, true to the savory namesake. The owner at the front proudly introduced us to her Savory Plate menu and helped us decide from the many delicious offerings.Savory Plate is also combined with a Brown's Chicken franchise resulting in quite the extensive menu. In our case, we ordered chicken tenders, mostaccoli, corn on the cob, mac and cheese, and buffalo wings with our tacos. While there wasn't much from the Brown's menu to write home about, they scratched the itch and were very kid-friendly options but were pretty mediocre. But the Savory Plate, Indian-Mexican menu was well worth trying and we already have the Indian quesadillas and burritos queued up for our next visit sooner than later!

Savory plate is located in a strip mall on Milwaukee across the street from Rise n Dine. There is plenty of parking outside but the space inside is limited to about 30 folks. The restaurant is on the newer side so when you walk in the lights are night, and they have top hits musics playing. There's also a few slot machines if you'd like to test your luck! The menu is vast, and options offering south Asian flavors, Mexican dishes along with the classic American Brown's Chicken. The restaurant is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner! They have options of made to order plates - be mindful of your time if you do order these options as they use fresh ingredients to prepare each made to order dish so it does take about 10-20 minutes depending on the item. But the staff will let you know about these wait times as you order. Or you can go the quick service route and try one of their many taco flavors. For this trip, I tried the tikka chicken taco and the steak taco with a side of rice. They have two different salsas if you need to spice things up, the salsa verde is nice and mild but their spicy salsa really does amplify up the flavors with the heat. The tikka chicken is nice and tender, the chicken was marinated and sliced allowing for it to maintain all the flavors and still be juicy in their tacos. The steak tacos we well stuffed, and I had my tacos topped with cilantro and onions. The Spanish rice was the perfect way to complete the meal, the flavors were great, and the rice was not hard or dry as some places often are. Lastly to wrap up my meal, I got a mango lassi! It wasn't too sweet and was served with ice. The perfect beverage for a hot summer day. All in all, they had tons of great options and I can't wait to come back and try more.

Sadly, recently the Indian part of the extensive menu has been significantly reduced as the Brown's Chicken part of the business has almost completely taken over. There's no signage outside to indicate this restaurant is here except for a script on the door and the small menus inside. We ordered the Savory Platter which consists of the three entrees most visible on the menu along with some rice and dry salad. It's as good as ever and is a very safe introduction to Indian cuisine for those who are not familiar. I only wish that the more extensive menu was still visible. One drawback, while the beverage dispenser has two types of iced tea, it was completely out of ice the evening we came in.

Don't eat here. They forget half your order, give you expired chutneys, and then look at you dumbfounded when you tell them what went wrong.Food is mediocre at best. Thank god for local flavor. I paid $6 for $20 worth of food.No wonder they put deals online. Annoyed by the service and taste. They deserve to close down

Thought the concept of Mexican and Indian food was awesome. Saucy, spices and yum it should work out well. Add in that they also serve Brown's chicken and it's a winner winner chicken dinner. It was.a bit difficult to find in the lot as I thought the restaurant was either part of the sushi place.next door or a Browns chicken site. The restaurant is sort of setup like a fast food restaurant, counter service with video board menus. This is definitely not fast food from my experience. Took about 20-25 mins as it needs to cook in the back. They constantly has takeaway ordered come in, and customers lingered waiting for their food. Grants they only had probably three people working this night All the food came out as they were completed. The kebobs were piping hot as was the naan and the tandoori chicken. The burrito and savory platter were served chipotle style behind the counter (I thought generous service.size). I like my food super hot so the kebobs, naan and tandoori chicken won out. I didn't realize they had Browns chicken earlier since the video boards didn't have it, but apparently there was a menu car at the register counter. I sure could have used some battered mushrooms. Tandoori chicken was modified, believe it was grilled over charcoal due to the flavor and texture. The naan was light and pillowy, excellent I could have eaten half a lb of that naan myself. The kebobs were hot And a generous helping., flavor wise I thought it could have used more fresh parsley and garlic a little more cumin, and maybe some onion and some other spices perhaps. A bit tame for me. The savory platter looked really good but I thought the seasoning could have been improved a bit on all of it, I was unable to differentiate the flavor of the chicken thighs. The shredded salad could have been dressed up a little with some lemon or lime and oil. The rice I think could have been nuttier if fried with some butter and some lime juice. The carne asada burrito needed a little more salt I thought and perhaps browned a bit more to add some texture to the meat. The salsa Verde which it comes with is an awesome salsa, spicy, flavorful, we didn't have the salsa in the burrito (on the side) There as a chutney of some kind maybe plum? (maybe tamarind) but it was a favorite of one of my kids when served with the kebobs. I thought it was subtle, maybe needed a slight kick of heat and acid perhaps to bring out the flavor. All in all... Portions are excellent and I believe it's definitely a value proposition. The flavors needed to blow me away more, it was not bland, but could have used a little more umph! The staff was very nice, but I thought it did take longer than expected for the food to come out. I expected a bit more cumin in everything, but the flavors were fairly tame. If I'm in the area again I'll think about trying again. But it's not going to occupy my top hit lists.. Plenty yof parking available..

My husband and I were craving dessert after our Yelp event at Savory Plateb and decided to order churros. The churros were freshly made and have several options for stuffings. The dusting of cinnamon and sugar were enough for us. Instead of being small, the churros come in for long strips. Churros make for an excellent dessert, combined with some chocolate, of course. I highly recommend Savory Plate for tacos, churros, and fried chicken.

Yum! I was drawn to Savory Plate, which just opened in Wheeling, for its unique Indo-Mexican fusion fare. I love Indian food as well as Mexican food, and was curious how they'd be combined. Two of us tried the butter chicken, which was great. The chicken and sauce tasted how I expected it to, and it was served over a bed of rice along with tomato, cilantro, lettuce, shredded cheese and onion, making sort of like a butter chicken burrito bowl. We both thought it was really good! Another person tried the steak burrito, which didn't seem to have an Indo influence. It came with rice, cilantro, tomato, cheese and lettuce. He enjoyed it, and his only comment was that it was a little heavy on the rice. Savory Plate is small and casual. You order at the counter and can eat at either a regular table or high-top. One of the owners, Sunita, took our orders and checked on us as we were finishing up. She was super nice. She mentioned that catering is available, and said orders are already rolling in, just two weeks after they opened. If you like Mexican or Indian food, be sure to check this place out!
