This place was great! My broccoli cheese soup were the best I've ever had here in Texas. My chicken salad croissant. I loved it. I'm down the street for jury duty. I might be here for a while. Why me! -- eating lunch at Sandy McGee's.

The only bad thing about Sandy McGees is the size. It's not huge, but it should be. Food was great and the service was as well. It's a nice little staple of Richmond that reminds me of a small town restaurant with all the comforts you would expect. I find it baffling that people complain in their 1 star reviews of this place. Some lady said she paid 17.50 for a kids plate? Where? They are 8.50, which don't get me wrong it isn't the cheapest out there but don't lie. Also, another person said it was cramped, uh duh. You can see that from the outside of the building. People always find something to complain about.

We just went for desserts as we just had a sweet tooth. We got the carrot cake and the Mexican fudge cake. They were both absolutely delicious BUT you better bring a friend to help you eat your dessert because a slice of carrot cake is enough for 3 people! You definitely get your moneys worth! It was moist and delicious. The Mexican fudge cake is amazing. You'd think a fudge cake would be too rich but it isn't! The cake portion is mildly sweet whereas the fudge topping is where the sweetness comes from. It's the perfect balance! The restaurant it's self is in a cute and cozy location. Very nice vibe. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is that service was lacking. We came about an hour before closing and our waitress was pretty absent. Someone else had to inform her that our desserts were ready to be served. It took about 15 minutes from ordering to be served but that wasn't the biggest deal to us. The part that was a bit irritating was how long it took her to bring our check and then to come back to get our card. About 20-25 minutes. She went upstairs and we didn't see her again for a while. A bit annoying but all in all, everything else was great.

Pues se veía delicioso el French dip , y en verdad lo estaba es mi primera vez en venir a este restaurante y es muy bonito por dentro por fuera se ve muy sencillo pero es un tesoro escondido , es muy original por dentro y la atención inmejorable me encantó ir a este restaurante a disfrutar de esta deliciosa comida , todavía me falta el postre !

Friendly staff good atmosphere. Prices are too high. $17 for a sandwich, with No fries or drink. Fries are $5. Broccoli cheddar soup had great flavor but No broccoli!! Don't think I will go back.

Their broccoli cheddar soup is as delicious as they say! I travelled from Los Angeles for an event and had to stop by and try it!

Excellent place. Tucked away in historic downtown Richmond, Texas. Layer back and low key place. Only had desert this time, which was delicious! The servings were extremely generous. We must be unique, the staff seemed surprised and a little unhappy that we only came for desert, but they were pleasant enough. Great little getaway...

I had friends that were shocked that I had never been to Sandy McGee's despite living in the area. I have now been three times. I dream about the spinach salad. Best I have ever had. Each time I've been here, I have ordered the City Secretary plate. Last I checked, it was $16. Not cheap, but the portions are plentiful. I promise you won't leave hungry. I get the half sandwich (smoked turkey), spinach salad, and cup of soup. I've had the broccoli cheese, tortilla, and a chilled avocado soup. They were all good. I've seen the fruit that comes with some plates and was shocked how much gorgeous fresh fruit is on the plate. They serve it with a little poppy seed dressing on the side.The pimento cheese sampler is tasty. I found it to be pretty salty in combination with the addictive little toasted breads that they serve. They're also famous for their chicken salad. I tried some that a friend shared and it was pretty good!Now, I'm not a big craft cocktail girl. The first time I went, I bit the bullet and ordered the Boarding House. It killed me to pay like $12 for a drink that, when arrived, was really tiny. Again, I realize that's not an unusual price, but I rarely order drinks like this. It was beautiful! Had a dehydrated fruit slice (orange, I think) atop an egg white layer. It was SO good!! I sipped on it for almost the whole lunch with my friend. I ended up going to Spec's on the way home to get the items to make it myself. The next time I went to Sandy McGee's, I ordered it again. This time, it was served in a different style glass, didn't have the dehydrated orange? slice on top, and appeared to have less served than the first time I ordered it. Perhaps just the different style serving vessel, not sure. Still tasty, but I definitely enjoyed the first one much better.An almost $40 lunch for one (meal, one cocktail, plus tax and tips) is pretty pricey, in my opinion, but it's a treat. It's a really comfortable, quaint environment worth of a leisurely lunch with a friend. But don't sit too long! They end up with lines out the door so take your visit with your friend down the sidewalks of downtown Richmond into some of the really unique little shops.Oh, forgot to add that I went for a baby shower for a friend's daughter. That was done so well! I wouldn't have thought such a busy place would be conducive for a small party, but it still felt cozy. Service was impeccable. I don't know his name, but each time I've been there is an older gentlemen who is so gracious and kind. He even said a blessing before our meal at the shower which brought tears to my eyes.Well done, Sandy! Well done.

Food is reasonably priced and very good, but the selection is very limited. Craft beers are tasty. Spirit selection is very limited.

Very disappointing! Every time I make a To-Go Order they forget something!! Please make sure your employees check off every item in the bag to make sure it's correct. Then I spoke to manager Andrea about my missing items and she said she couldn't credit my money back on my credit card. Why? Ridiculous.
