My new favorite fry place! The tomato seasoning is sooo good. There are lots of seasoning and fry options, including shoestring, waffle, tots and curly fries. Service is friendly and seating is comfortable, with fun tunes playing. Will definitely return!

Potato guys is a cute little burger joint located in down town San Mateo . As you walk in, you're given to option to order from a self serve tablet or walk up to the cashier. there are stairs that leads upstairs to the seating area. Seats about 20. There's also chairs outside to sit. Food: the quality of the food was great. chicken was very crispy. The waffle fries were fresh and crispy as well...so was the shrimp. the food was not greasy which I appreciated. Con: The only bad experience here was the bad customer service from the cashier who had TERRIBLE customer service. He didn't greet us upon walking in although I said hello twice. the receipt says "NoRa" but that looks like another persons name. He was very unattentice and stayed on his phone a lot

I was craving fries, and happened to run into this place! Ordered tater tots with less Cajun seasoning, and I thought it was 10/10! Crispy outer, piping hot, soft interior, just enough seasoning. A regular size was more than enough for me. Seating upstairs and outside. I think they should monitor the state of the upstairs--absolutely dirty with napkins and trash on the ground and all over the tables, and the TV was playing something I would not want kids to be watching... But their potatoes are great, and would come back for more! Next time, I'll try the curly fries!

I was in San Mateo and I wanted a snack so I stumbled upon this place. There are kiosks or you can order at the counter too. I got a large order because you can do half and half different flavors. I got curly fries with half chili BBQ and half seaweed pepper salt and they paired so well together!I like this spot because they don't overdo the seasoning so it's just the right amount and not too salty. The seaweed pepper salt was very unique and made me think of furikake. I will definitely stop by next time I'm in the area.:)Ambiance: There are several tables inside and a restroom for customers too. The worker was nice and asked me which flavor I wanted the top half to be. It's part of the walking street that's blocked out but there are street parking spots nearby.

Fast and easy. Workers are very nice and accommodating. Easy ordering via kiosk. Place is relatively clean. Got the large with Cajun seasoning. It was yummy. And the fries were not super greasy. Will definitely be back to try other flavors.

If you love hot, salty carb-loaded snacks, Potato Guys is for you. We ordered and shared a regular size fries with cajun style seasoning. Fries were piping hot, and portion was relatively large. The regular size can be shared easily between two people. Other items on the menu include burgers, chicken sandwiches, and other deep-fried goodness like cheese sticks and onion rings. The store is clean and simple, with plenty of upstairs seating.

Yum, a potato lovers dream. A yummy snack while we waited for dinner. We ordered the bbq tater tots, Cajun curly fries and butter garlic waffle fries. Circle fries and tator tots were the fan favs. Their portions are pretty big. This fed 5 people. Spacious restaurant with an indoor and outdoor seating. Can't wait to come back to try some of their other flavors.

Fries here's are bomb. They have different seasonings you can choose from. Staff are friendly, asked what their popular flavors were and decided to try that. It was really good. Wish they didn't use the paper in your bucket since the paper funnel wastes space for the fries that could've been on your bucket. You'll get what I mean when you order. But overall worth a try to get before or after the movies.

Warm flavorful potato snacks are what they're known for. I strongly recommend the tater tots with chili bbq flavoring. It is a good balance between tangy and spicy and does have a little kick to it. It is on the saltier side so make sure you ask for some water. They also have lots of other snacks including my favorite cheese stick. Their cheese sticks are bigger than the average size cheese sticks! There is some seating upstairs and some seating outside as well. Perfect place to visit for a small snack in between or after meals

As a fries enthusiast, I stumbled upon this spot while strolling through downtown San Mateo on a Friday night and was immediately drawn in by the variety of fries on offer. Naturally, I couldn't resist giving it a try. When I walked in, I noticed several people already waiting for their orders. The shop itself has a small standing area, but there's additional seating upstairs. The ambiance was decent--well-lit, but not very spacious.We opted for the curly fries with seaweed salt, and they exceeded my expectations. The flavor was perfectly balanced, neither too salty nor overpoweringly seaweed-y. We also tried the cheese bites, which were good but not exceptional. Overall, I'd give this place 4 out of 5 stars. I'll definitely be back to explore more flavors when I'm in the area and craving fries.
