I visited again with my wife, and this time we had a broiled halibut dish, Ceviche Chino, and two different Sours. The portions were generous, and we had no room left for dessert. The food and cocktails were excellent, and our hostess / bartender was friendly, attentive, and related lots of fascinating trivia. She elevated the experience for us.We look forward to dining at Mixto again soon.

We had an early reservation for dinner last Saturday night. We figured arriving early should make parking easier to handle, but we were circling for about 10 minutes before finding a place. Same with our friends in their car who met us for dinner. When we arrived, there was only one other table occupied, and our table had a Reserved sign on it. One downside, we were very near the door, and we never really warmed up all evening. Next time, we'll request a table away from the door! Those were the negatives. Everything else was wonderful! We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Lighting was low, and felt very comfortable. For the four of us, we ordered:* Plantain Chips (I think they were complimentary, along with a spicy dipping sauce) -- excellent, crispy, a great way to keep us occupied while ordering* Calamari Frito -- excellent! Crispy, and two great dipping sauces.* Tostada de Quinoa -- not sure if this is what we ordered, but it was very good. We split it into quarters. For the main course, there were two orders of the amazing Salmon Risotto (one for me, one for our friend). This was a thick piece of salmon, perfectly grilled and still hot, sitting on a cylinder of crispy risotto. The risotto was also perfect, just enough crispiness on the outside, and cheesy warmth on the inside. Inbetween, a layer of sauteed spinach, and a great salsa. One of the best salmon dishes I've ever had.My wife ordered the Pescado Sudan, halibut poached in Peruvian Salsa Tigre, and served over spinach and yuca frita. I got to taste some at dinner, and more the next night as leftovers. Excellent flavors, just enough spice. The final dish was the Costillos De Cordero, Australian lamb chops. Presentation was beautiful (see photo) and she was very excited by this dish. For dessert we ordered the Picarones, three warm Peruvian donuts with a cinnamon syrup. We were expecting the donuts to be small, but they were huge. The plate was steaming, and the best part was cutting a piece and dipping it into the sauce on the plate. The texture was a little chewy, but delicious. And we had to have chocolate, so we ordered the flourless chocolate cake. Exactly what we were hoping for, with a small dollop of whipped cream on top.We will be back for sure. This may even become a tradition for us since it's about half way from our home and from our friends' home. Check it out!

First time here, but not my last! Service was wonderful; the hostess was very gracious and patient with us as I had to change the number of people in our party a couple of times and then a couple of people were late. She checked with us a couple of times to see if we were ready to order, but wasn't pushy or overbearing. When everyone finally arrived, she gave us plenty of time for everyone to peruse the menu. We each ordered something different, so I was able to see 5 different dishes. They all looked wonderful, especially the Arroz con Mariscos. Everyone loved whatever they ordered, but I had the Adobo Sliders and, while they were really good, they were a tad on the dry side. I think I'll try something else next time (and there *will* be a next time)!

I ordered the "Pescada a la macho". This was a WHOLE fish type deal (bones and head), with shrimps, and mussels. I think the portions can easily feed 2 people. I didn't like how some of the shrimps were not de-veined! Overall, the fish was good! Cute little Peruvian restaurant! They do not have a liquor license, but do have beer and wine available!

My friend wanted to have a belated birthday lunch with me, so I chose Mixto since it's been in my bookmarks and looked interesting. Located further down the avenues on 45th, we walked about a mile down from where we were on this sunny, beautiful day. We got there around noon and we were among a few in the restaurant. Modern interiors with a Latin theme. It took us a bit of time to figure out what we wanted to order, as their menu was extensive! Our server was efficient and pleasant. ***OUR PICKS***BIRRIA TACOS (3) ~ slow stewed beef with dried chilies and spices, melted cheese, cilantro, with a side of consommé. These tacos were tasty and full of flavor! Dipping them into the broth was great too! The grilled jalapeño was SPICY! Maybe because I'm a weakling when it comes to spicy foods. But I'm glad I took that home with a leftover taco and had sour cream to cool off my mouth! If I ate it at the restaurant, water wouldn't have cut it! Feel the HEEEAT!!! But a good burn every now and then isn't bad! 4/5PICARONES CON POLLO ~ Warm Peruvian donuts, crispy fried chicken, pisco spiced maple syrup. My friend ordered this and let me try a donut. It was really good! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The flavor of the donut tasted more like bread, but managed to stay soft. The maple syrup had a touch of cinnamon and lightly sweetened compared to regular maple syrup. The strips of chicken were ok. A bit drier than I would have liked. Possibly if they were bigger pieces, it would have tasted juicier. Though it was seasoned well. The portion of chicken was a bit small in comparison to the 2 large donuts. The donuts were the star of this dish vs if you were to order chicken and waffles elsewhere, the chicken would be the highlight. 4/5PLANTAIN CHIPS with aji verde ~ crispy plantains with a creamy, spicy sauce. We enjoyed this side throughout our meal. Took some home and reheated it in the air fryer. Turned out crispier! 4.5/5We enjoyed the food at Mixto and wouldn't hesitate to come again!

This was our dinner spot for our recent trip to SF. The food was amazing! It was my first time having Peruvian food. I ordered the Aji de Gallina & it was delicious! I wanted something more filling because it was our last meal of the night & it did not disappoint. It was savory and a very comforting dish. I also had a bite of my brother's order of the Lomo Saltado & it was also delicious. The portions of everyone's food was huge. Don't forget to request their habanero sauce on the side because that was one of the best hot sauces I've ever had! & to top it off, service was amazing. The staff were super nice, checked on us often, & really added to a great experience. Thank you!!!

Ordered the calamari and the lomo saltado. The calamari was cooked well. I loved the sauce with it and even with the onions too. Added some sourness and had a good crisp to it. The lomo saltado is a really good portion size. You get so much meat and fries. I just wish they'd give a bit more rice so there would be a good ratio of rice to sauce and meat. Really good Peruvian food in the outer sunset!

Lomo saltados, pulco, fish a la macho were so food! Little over cooked, but definitely will visit again! Kids menus are not typical American food, it's Peruvian styles with fresh french fries.Located right next to "other avenue grocery" store on Judas avenue.
