This review is a little over due but I'd absolutely recommend you give it a chance ! The Omelettes are delicious and my mother absolutely loves pancakes. Normally I love buttermilk pancakes but the blueberry pancakes are fabulous and fresh . I think about them often ! The service is great, I've only been served by one male and he is always soo kind and welcoming ( you know who you are ) There is a Mexican flare to this place and I love it ! Such a San Mateo vibe *hearts*I'd love to see some hash browns from this spot , they do mix up their breakfast potatoes and such, even their bread ... customized breakfast burritos would definitely have me coming back . Nothing like a simple eggs chorizo and cheese but I'm sure you can order it up . Thank you

Grabbed lunch here for the first time and the overall experience was really good! The waiter was super kind, my boyfriend had ordered some pancakes & we had waited a long time for it and so they gave us a complimentary pancake. I ordered their Florentine Benedict ($15.95) and I did not like it. The egg yolk was not runny The portion itself was just right, it looked really little when I first got it haha Other dishes we ordered: - Brunch Burger $13.95 - Mario's steak omelette $18.95- Penne Pesto $16.95- Miami Heat Crepe $16.95- Fruity Nutella Crepe 13.95- Coffee $3.95

Staff was friendly, service was good, the place was clean with good seating. The portions were good and prices were very reasonable. I would have added one more star if the coffee and the seasoning was better. Maybe it was my taste buds were off. But on a Sunday I need great coffee and food that with good flavor.

The cutest store. The food was really good, but the service was even better. The waiter was so nice and was super attentive. I got the Mexican omelette which was filled to the brim- I could barely walk after eating everything it came with. The waiter offered me more toast, and even provided this complementary French toast that was mindblowingly good. I think this specific French toast that they were testing out might not be on the menu quite yet, but if it is... it's a definite MUST try. Pictured: complementary French toast

Weekend brunch meet up with a friend and this was my first time visiting despite driving past it on many occasions. I was initially hesitant as there was no line and another establishment nearby had a long line. Wow, what a great place for breakfast--I made a good choice. The lack of a line did not deter me and I decided to check it out. It was seemingly small with a few tables--well lit with natural light. I grabbed the first available table; the server advised me that there was also a dining area upstairs. I decided to head upstairs--spacious, a little crowded and able to accommodate larger parties over 5. They had weekend specials & an extensive menu selection--breakfast and lunch items. We ordered a vegetable omelette, a savory New Orleans crepe and a side pancake. The pancake was so fluffy and delicious, my crepe was served with house-made potatoes & a side salad, my choice and was very tasty, as was the vegetable omelette. Our server was attentive, checking on us regularly and making sure the coffee carafe was full and our water glasses were filled. I wouldn't hesitate coming back for another meal. The service was great, the prices were reasonable and the staff were friendly.

Was looking for a breakfast place in SM and tried this place the pictures looked OK but what you see is NOT what you get it was just AVERAGE and the service was ok since we were only 2 of us in the place at 1130 am and we got a club sandwich and a breakfast plate and whens the last time you had a club sandich which was only 2 pieces and the breakfast plate only had ONE piece of Toast not sure about this place plus the menu had tons of spelling errors so the attention to detail isnt their strong point but the pictures of their offerings dont match either

Nice brunch spot! Somewhat new-ish in San Mateo, I think just about a little over a year now.Lots of breakfast and lunch items, open until 2:00pm daily. Located on the main boulevard, El Camino Real. Reasonably priced and they've got booze, too, if you're interested. There's free parking behind the building off Hobart St. Nice service, cute little restaurant. They have bar seating. Quite a few Benedict's to choose from. I ordered the Ham Benedict made with sliced, grilled ham not Canadian bacon, which I loved. Their hollandaise sauce is good with nice poached eggs. My only issue is on Yelp the breakfast potatoes are thinly sliced and I received chunk potatoes. I was looking forward to their unique style but didn't receive. Some chunks were not fully cooked which was also a bummer but overall good food. I would like to try again in the near future. Their Chilaquiles gets some rave reviews, as well as their Heuvos Rancheros. Give them try, cheers!

Johnny's First Toast is street side of El Camino. I may have driven by this thousands of times and never even knew it was there! Walking in you think there are only a few tables, but they had several upstairs as well which were more of the main service area. Service was spotty to start, but the server did apologize immediately and mentioned how swamped they were that day. (at least it was communicated.) The other person who helped run the food was accommodating and assisted; both made sure we were content. Grade: B We ordered two iced teas, a side of fries, 2x2x2, Corn Flake-crusted French Toast, and a Cobb Salad. Our neighbors near our table ordered the sliders that were a great size and appealing to the eyes. The two iced teas came out in a timely fashion. They had a lemon wedge and tasted freshly made. Grade: AMy wife jokingly mentioned that we should have gotten our picky kids some French Fries from McDonald's like we tend to do at most places we want to dine, but the French fries here were AWESOME! They were super crispy and surprisingly better! I know. How is that possible right? If you have picky eaters or just don't care for parsley flakes on your fries, I suggest ordering the fries without them. Grade: A++The 2x2x2 we ordered were two pancakes, 2 eggs over medium, and 2 slices of bacon. The pancakes were fluffy and a smaller size. I'm hoping this was only because they were part of a combo. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The bacon was crispy. For the price, I expected bigger pancakes. Grade: BMy wife ordered the Cobb Salad. This Cobb doesn't have blue cheese. Overall the salad was decent. Nothing esthetically eye-popping. The dressing was good. Grade: BThe cornflake-crusted French toast was delicious. The bread itself was a bit small so I was hoping it came with at least two more wedges. Very good though and I would order it again. Grade: A-I'll definitely come back and give them a second chance. I wanted to try their burger and their corned beef hash. I was still happy we found this place as it added a breakfast location in our area.Overall grade: B/B-

Walked in and there were saxophone covers of 2010 pop songs blasting at full volume. When I asked them to lower the volume someone turned it down for one song then turned it louder immediately after. I couldn't hear the person across from me vtalking to me. The place lacks personality. The food came out quick but since I ordered a teriyaki steak that's not a good sign. It could've been marinated better and the meat needed to rest for a big longer. It was tough. Eggs were fine. Potatoes were painfully bland. My partners huevos rancheros were not filling and the portions were not worth the price. Our server was kind but timid. He seemed like he was apologizing for the food with his body language. I'd say this place has a lot of work to do to stand out. Won't be returning sadly.
