Popping breakfast spotPeople were coming in for breakfast right at opening. Service is fast and they are generous with the coffee refills. They have the typical breakfast fare. I tried the breakfast burrito which was huge and served with crispy hash browns. It came with the option of toast or banana muffin. I went for the latter which was excellent. Came out stuffed

Dirty cups. Dirtier service. Did we happen to come on an off day? Did most of the staff wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Our meal at Joanie's Cafe was the worst we've had in a while. Yelp rarely lets me down, but sorry, guys, this one missed the mark big time. We were seated promptly when we arrived on a Sunday morning. 1 star for the hostess who was kind. It was all downhill from there. - We waited 15 mins for a server to stop by our table. No one ever came even when we tried to flag down a few. I actually ended up going back outside to the hostess to see if she could help. - Ordered two coffees. One cup came with lipstick on it. When we asked our server for a new cup, another was brought with some coffee stains on the side ...- Flagged another server to see if we could get a clean cup and he stared at us, didn't say a word, and walked away. He came back after 5 mins with an EMPTY CUP. - The same server then proceeded to glare at us from across the restaurant. He also came to our area and offered refills to the tables nearby, but then skipped us. Nice. Food was fine, but NOT WORTH the indigestion you'll get from the subpar service and feeling like you, the patron, is a nuisance.

Food: fruit plate, wheat toast with jam, French toast, two egg breakfast with bacon. Delish big serving of fresh fruit. The wheat toast was thick with a delicious chewy texture and served with a really good jam. Service: friendly and lightening fast which was great because we were pressed for time. Ambiance: homey environment with tables and bar seating for singles. Would definitely come back for breakfast again when in town.

Fabulous food with friendly serving! Located on Palo Alto and road is blocked that people walk around easily. Had a seat outside with covered seating, sunny weekend, it was so good. They have french onion soup which is my all time favorite!

What a great find! Food was so tasty and the flavors were so clean. I had corned beef and hash and it was crispy on the outside, creamy buttery potatoes, the corned beef was decadent. My mom had the Florentine eggs Benedict and added avocados - magnificent breakfast

Overall , this establishment exceeded our expectations. We had the salmon omelette and blueberry pancakes with sausage. The taste of the salmon was excellent and very well prepared and plated for excellent visual presentation upon receiving the order. The blueberry pancakes were fresh and fluffy and will have to say did not leave any behind. Sat outside as it was a little busy and farmers market was going on which made it nice. The good thing about this location is it is off the main strip of Palo Alto and will allow for easier parking the next street over , that has a free lot. The service was very friendly and just good time. The only reason this is not 5 star is the price is high , even by Silicon Valley standards , the two meals , coffee plus one other soda drink was $77 with tip. It's worth it to try , but as a regular place to go too that might be little much. But try it once , you will love the food and people here

In town for a week, tried every breakfast restaurant in the area. Joanie's my favorite. Quick and very pleasant service, this breakfast spot feels more like a local's top choice as opposed to some other top choices on the Yelp list. Food was great, nothing fancy, just hearty wholesome breakfast place reasonable priced. Server said: "See you tomorrow?" when handed the check, already making me feel at home.

I was passing through Palo Alto and chanced upon this cafe, hungry for breakfast. The cafe is clean and pleasant. The service is fantastic. I ordered the medley, which gives you French toast, bacon, eggs, and hash browns. The eggs were poached easy as I requested. But I asked for my bacon to be cooked extra crisp, and it came to me chewy and uncrisp. The hash browns were crispy on top, which is the way they should be. The "Joanie's" French toast was average. Overall, a decent breakfast.
