It has been probably 15-20 years since I last came here and I have forgotten how much I enjoy this place! My friend and I had a lovely time here for a weekday lunch earlier this week. Unlike the rowdy beer hall experience, the vibe here on a weekday lunch was chill. Service was comfortable, quick, and friendly. The food and beer is good as always! I ordered the two sausage plate; you choose from the list of available sausages, and I got the Bockwurst and the Käsekrainer. The plate also comes with the traditional potatoes salad. Both sausages were yum; bonus that they sold them in the market in the front too, and I picked up some frozen Bockwurst to bring home. The potatoes salad was delish too - especially given the bacon bits.

I used to stop in here a lot when I was in Redwood City everyday. It was a chill hangout after we would get out of school and it accommodates large groups and loud gatherings. The vibe is super chill and the service was great. Today I did just stop in to eat, we were going to stop at a German restaurant in the city but our next destination was in Redwood City so I suggested the gourmet haus. I'm used to the schnitzels being as large as the plate and this was very small but still good. Love the vinaigrette on the salad and got the käsesspätzle and wished when we said not the veggie one they didn't exclude the onions. It was a bit plain. Next time bacon and the crispy onions might spruce it up a bit. The jäger schnitzel sando was sooo good and the mushroom sauce tasty! I enjoyed the homemade chunky applesauce with my potato pancakes. I highly recommend stopping in here for a good, tasty and affordable meal.We hit the market in the front on the way out and all the Christmas stuff is there which was exciting.

Came here a few weeks ago with some family for a small birthday celebration. Had some really great German beers, Weinstephaner 1512 Keller bier was my standout. We shared a German sampler with schnitzel and sausages. The food was pretty good, the drinks were awesome and the service was amazing, very friendly and willing to help you choose some of their favorites. There is also a store attached to the bier garden. The restaurant was clean and tidy and I will return for more German beers and treats. Highly recommended.

This is one of the hidden gems in Redwood City. Imagine walking into a grocery store which extends up to a brewery with an amazing seating lots of food. I love German beers and especially breweries. This place had a wipe. It's very cozy seating lots of local people had amazing suggestions. Their food was amazing. It was not very pricey. If you're thinking about getting some nice Pilsner jefe lager hazy IPA go there. Super good a lot of sauce options which goes for your bratwurst and I am telling you that you guys are going to go back again and I have to recommend you guys to try buying stuff from there too because it's very European and they have amazing brats that you can grill or cook it in your house

For the second year in a row, Vegetarian DJ chose to go to a German restaurant for his birthday on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, to eat bratwurst and drink a couple of pints of beer. This year, we went to Gourmet Haus Staudt in Redwood City.Located in downtown, we easily found the restaurant, but were surprised that no customer parking was allowed for patrons as the lot is reserved strictly for the neighouring business office. No worries, though - we immediately found street parking across the street. We arrived at around 8 PM. Self-seating either in the two front patios, the bar inside, or the indoors dining room. We opted for a table inside at the front corner. The decor inside the venue definitely reminded me Germany. The menu is quite limited, focusing on various Bratwurst offerings and Schnitzel-based dishes. This is definitely not a place for strict vegetarians and vegans to grab a full meal. Very little to almost no vegetables served here, unfortunately. In addition to DJ's two pints of beer and V's Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Juice, below are the food items that we ordered:Bavarian Pretzel With Salami and Cheese, $14 - V found the Cheese to be "strong," but he liked it. The Pretzel was soft and warm. Bavarian Pretzel With Obatzda (Camembert Dip), $14 - The Camembert Dip looked scarily spicy, thick, and rich to me. To my pleasant surprise, it was lighter in taste and texture than I expected.FLAMMKUCHEN (FLATBREAD), $13 - Customized to replace the AVOCADO SLICES with extra BACON. Perhaps the original amount of bacon is skimpy because with the supposed extra amount, the tomatoes of the SALSA FRESCA still seemed to outnumber the bacon pieces. Otherwise, V enjoyed this pizza-like dish.Brat in a Bun (Smoked), $11 - Good, but I have had a much more tasty Bratwurst elsewhere, so was kind of wanting a bit more flavour. The amount of Sauerkraut could have been more generous, too.Brat in a Bun (Bockwurst), $11 - DJ fully enjoyed this. I found the Bockwurst more bland than the Smoked.Side of Potato Salad, $5 - For the price, the serving is tiny. DJ still liked it, but found the spicy pickles a bit odd.Pommes Frites (Fries), Large, $8 - Served golden, fresh and hot, but could have been crispier.VANILLA GELATO - These were pre-scooped into disposable cups that you could take to go. No complaints from the kids, but Z notice that although the ice cream was at the rim of the cups, there was empty space at the bottom.Heads up - Other than the few ice cream desserts offered in the GHS Specials, no other sweets are offered unless it's Thursday when they have a few cakes or baked goods.Oh, and water is self-serve. No likey.Service was quick and friendly. We were bummed that the store was closed during our visit.DJ enjoyed his birthday dinner here. He will likely to return for some boots of beer.

My first time at this amazing gasthaus in Redwood City. We walked in just a few minutes after they opened at noon. The place was already hopping and filling up fast as we sat down. We had the schnitzel and pomme frites. It came with a side salad that had a mustard vinaigrette. It was all quite good. We washed our lunch down with a Paulaner Oktoberfest marzen bier. I describe this as a gasthaus rather than a regular restaurant because of it's feel and ambiance. Communal tables, lots of German bier on tap. Walls filled with various bier brands and other tchotchkes really push this place over the top.The bartender/food order taker was knowledgeable about the history of Gourmet Haus Staudt, which started in 1974 as a flower shop that evolved into a souvenir stand, then store, bar, eventually a full on restaurant. Still owned by the children of the founders. The bartender said the mom, in her 90's!, makes desserts and brings them in once a week. He said they were great. The store in the front is small but you can get lost between the many beverages, candies, toys, and souvenirs. Lots of great unique items to pick up as gifts for friends and family or for yourself to enjoy. The man tending the store was also knowledgeable about the wines, meads (several different types from several countries), and the candy. We live about an hour away but hopefully will be back and bring some of our friends for some food and fun. I highly recommend it.
