The thing breaks apart easily into layers like a real croissant and it tastes like a croissant. It's not only that the dough is less sweet, the layers really impart a different taste and feel. Impressed.+ Lovely yeasty taste to their raised donuts.+ Kids ordered that big chunky loaf shaped donut with maple topping. I usually don't get that because with so much dough, it ends up being cloying and heavy. But this was surprisingly light and crispy and heavenly. If you can do that with this large block-shaped donut, you're a magician in my book.+ Friendly when ordering.+ Gave us a 13th donut with our dozen order.Wish this place was closer to my house. "To simply put it: a must to visit if you love specialty donuts or even very buttery croissants!We stopped by early Sunday morning to order their assortment for gifts back home and for us to indulge in. They are currently offering holiday flavors which sounded so good that we bought a few of them.We were greeted immediately and knowing how big their selection is, they assured us we could take our time. Our first box of four was: graham smores, matcha mont blanc, coffee creme brulee, and kalakand (a rose white, white chocolate).Our second box of four was: graham smores, matcha mont blanc, tiramisu, and vanilla bean.And lastly, our last order was a single butter croissant warmed.This was the best butter croissant I've had in a long time. With the box of donuts you will buy, you should order a box of croissants as well. As for the donuts, they are absolutely delicious! The chocolate glaze was decadent, the matcha was rich, the tiramisu was incredible! I enjoyed this so much and I hope the box we bought for our friends will be just as loved."

"Yum donuts! Have driven by this donut shop a few times and finally decided to pick up a dozen on my way to work for a co-worker's birthday. The donuts were fresh and fluffy! Had a big variety to pick from at 7:45 am and the employees were friendly. Regular donuts are 6 for $7, the jelly and custard are a little more and the apple fritters are $2.25. I picked glazed, crumb raised glazed, glazed old fashioned, chocolate custard and apple fritters. They were all tasty, the chocolate custard could have a bit more filling though. My favorite was the apple fritter! They were nice and crunchy and huge! Will definitely be back for more. Their breakfast sandwiches also sound yummy so will have to try those sometime too. Also, they are a cash only business would be great if they started taking credit cards."

"Been going to Maple Leaf Donuts for years and will miss Mary. Recently went for the first time under new ownership and met a nice woman behind the counter named Tia, who was very friendly and efficient. She accurately assembled my 1 doz donuts in a new flat style box, not the pink tallish square box I was so used to all these years. It''ll take some getting used to, but the advantage of the flat box is all donuts are now easily displayed (& accessible) when the box is opened - vs. being tightly slotted sideways in the pink box. All the donuts looked the same visually - which is a compliment to the new donut maker. I can't speak to the taste of the dozen donuts as they were given as a gift. I did order an apple fritter & old fashioned for myself - compliments to the current donut maker, both tasted like Maple Leaf Donuts - I'll need a few more visits to confirm for consistency of the product, but it seems they're following the previous recipes, techniques & process. Also the new owners put up a couple of flat screens that display all their menu items. Hopefully Almaden and the surrounding area gives the new owners a chance and continue to support local small businesses like Maple Leaf Donuts"

"Vegan Bistro Donuts is a tasty and reliable option near SJSU campus. I came here on a weekend with my partner and we both loved our experience here. I have been to this cafe a few times, and the donuts are always so delicious. I love all the different flavors they have, and it's awesome how much variety there is. They also make a great Vietnamese coffee and other refreshing drinks. The employees are always very friendly and accommodating to any requests. They also have a discount if you get a half dozen or a dozen donuts, which gives you all the more reason to try as many flavors as you want! My partner isn't vegan, and they were wowed by how delicious the donuts were. The cafe itself is also very relaxed and is a great place to sit and chill for a bit"

"I hadn't had much of a breakfast several weekends ago before dropping my car off for service at the dealer nearby. While they were working on it, I walked over to downtown Sunnyvale to take a look at the new Whole Foods and AMC movie theater that had been built there. I remembered that there had once been a place called Star's Donuts in a mini-strip mall down Sunnyvale avenue, so I headed that direction after surveying the Whole Foods and the theater. In the space where Star's Donuts used to be is now Daily Donuts & Sandwiches. They used to have another location in a shopping center at El Camino and Pastoria, but they closed it since that shopping center was slated to be razed (and eventually was). When the former Star's Donuts closed here, Daily Donuts moved in.I walked in and glanced at the donuts behind the glass. I ended up ordering a chocolate Long John / bar and a glazed donut as well as a medium coffee with milk and cream. The nice lady behind the counter got my order ready and rung me up in the span of a few minutes. The total cost was $5.05, which is an excellent price if you ask me. The donuts were both pretty good! They weren't the same quality as the famous Stan's in Santa Clara, but I thought they were still flavorful and filling. The coffee was unremarkable. I didn't get a chance to see or ask if they brew it on site, but, alas, it's no big deal either way.Overall, I'm glad I paid these guys a visit. It's small businesses like these that I really enjoy patronizing and supporting. They also serve bagels and sandwiches, in case you're not in the mood for donuts.I hope those of you reading this think of a business like this that you can support at a time like this when many small businesses everywhere are struggling to make it due to the shutdown. If you wanted pizza, would you rather go to Pizza Hut or a local Bay Area pizza joint like Maldonado's, Cicero's, or Golden Boy? If you were looking for a particular book, would you rather go to Barnes and Noble (and risk getting diarrhea), or a local Bay Area bookstore like Leigh's, Kepler's, or City Lights? If you were in the mood for a burrito, would you rather go to Chipotle or a local taqueria like Tacos Jalapa, Los Altos Taqueria, or El Farolito? And if you were hungry for a donut, would you rather go to Krispy Kreme or a local donut shop like Daily Donuts, Donut Wheel, Stan's, or Bob's Donuts?You get the picture.
