Armando's Restaurant + Bar

Armando and family has opened an Excellent Mexican Restaurant on the corner of Bascom Ave and San Carlos, San Jose. This restaurant has some of the best Mexican Food in Santa Clara County. Prices are reasonable and very generous portions. There is a full bar on site. Their desert menu is awesome. They have music on weekends. Don't miss this venue

The rating is primarily for the service. The restaurant wasn't busy and there were a lot of bartenders and servers just hanging out. The time in between Ferris f our orders in and getting our drinks and food took way too long. My friends got beer, I wasn't sure what I had wanted yet. The server got the beers but took awhile to come back for my drink order. It took them a bit to get our food order in as well. The food was pretty good. I got the quesabirria .... It was way better than some of the places I've had before. The flavor is prefect. Everyone else enjoyed their food too. I wished the service was better, we had stopped in to celebrate my birthday, but because we could barely get a round of drinks, we decided to leave to go somewhere else .

Went here with a couple of friends on a taco Tuesday night. No wait at 5 pm. Didn't get too busy the rest of our stay either. It's $1.50 per taco, and you can order it with any meat except shrimp, and the quesabirria isn't included. I got the al pastor, carnitas, and birria. I liked the carnitas out of the 3. The birria was decent, and the pastor lacked flavor. The salsas could use more heat. I ordered the jamaica to wash it down. That was refreshing!Overall, tacos are ok. I'd come back for the carnitas and maybe other menu items. A lot of patrons actually didn't order tacos.

I am traveling for work so I am eating alone on a Friday night. They gave me a choice of a couple of tables. I chose the high top. When you eat alone, restaurants often want to seat you at the bar. I don't like eating at the bar. My waitress was prompt. She made a drink recommendation...La Korita, which was excellent. I ordered the chips and guacamole, always wonderful. I believe the chips are made in house. For the entree, I ordered the linguine in chipotle cream sauce with chicken. OMG! This was amazing! It's spicy but I love spicy. It's a lively, fun place with great people, food and service. It's clean and brightly decorated, very festive! I'll be back.

The food is good but the service is a hit or miss. Came with my family of 5 and they included a "large group" gratuity automatically?? When asked about is they stated it is part of the policy that any groups 5 or more get charged gratuity?!?!?! That is ridiculous.

Armando's be hella poppin. If you like Mexican food but don't like Mexicano culture or our loud ass music, then don't show up to this spot n be a f'n kill joy. This place aint for uptight hueris. It's fo the people. La Banda is live and they slap! Don't forget to tip em in cash. The food was top notch. They give you that real carne asada not that bs diesmillo that other spots try to pass off as skirt steak. No, this is the real deal. Thank god. The aguachile was up to par and for my first time trying Mexican sushi it was pretty alright. I probably would do it again to be honest. In the men's restroom there was hella pictures of Latinidad, an appropriate display of culturally iconic images and intergenerational representations. Proper. I really appreciated that.Will definitely be back the next time I'm heading down this way!

Very good food and service. I highly recommend this place. We've been looking for a better Mexican restroom for a long time. This is a good one. I can't wait to go back.

Beautiful restaurant and friendly service at the bar. The seafood was so fresh and delicious. I will be coming back soon as I am craving it now!

Wasn't a fan about a year ago but what a difference a year makes! This place is great! The food is fresh and super tasty. The staff is friendly and attentive- really adds to the meal. This place is is on our short list of go to restaurants. By the way it's also on our regular DoorDash list! It's priced reasonably and always shows up hot!
