I have eaten here for a couple of years now and sometimes 3 times or more per week. Every time I had the unagi don which was fantastic. I have since moved but have an office in the city and took out of town visitors here and again I had the unagi don however they had the soba yaki ( spelling might be incorrect however I am sure it gets the point across regardless). The unagi certainly took a turn for the worse and was incredibly tough. I had two bites and trashed the rest. On a positive note, yesterday I tried the soba yaki and it is FANTASTIC!!! I can not understand why I never tried anything else other than the unagi which pretty much has ceased to exist as far as I am concerned.... Unagi, NO! Soba yaki, ABSOLUTELY!!!

Food: 3-4/5Service: BasicAmbiance: Casual Value: 3/5 Got Tonkotsu ramen and Oyakodon. The Tonkotsu broth was nice and the pork belly was soft. The Oyakodon I thought was just okay. Good in the fact it's simple, but left me wanting more. We went for lunch. When I say the service is basic, it's that we got seated, they brought out waters and that was the only service we received during the meal. The reason for my 3 star rating is that I wasn't really wowed by anything and the value. I understand rent and overhead is expensive but $17 for that Oyakodon is bit high. I understand Unagi being priced what it is. With that being said the ramen is comparable to other ramen shops in SF.

Ramen in Potrero, Torraku was once a popular food truck that has now planted itself in a nice brick and mortar location that has coffee and empanadas close by. In 2017 it was listed on SF's best food truck list and if you've been a fan they've carried over their black and red color scheme to the restaurant. The good thing is they are used to operating at high volume with fast turn around so the food comes out really fast. The menu is small but they do serve Japanese beers and sake.Shoyu Ramen: Noodles and broth were perfect and the chashu and seaweed were abnormally large, it was very tasty. For being proportional I would have loved more green onion.Spicy Miso Ramen: Perfect for warming you up on a cool SF day, it's savory with a delicate heat and thicker cut pieces of meat. Overall size may be perfect for other people but my friend and I could not finish our bowls, it seemed like we kept eating and eating and the bowl looked exactly the same so great value for the price.

Out group had the tonkotsu, miso & shoyu ramens, the latter w/ level 4 spice & extra pork belly. All orders were fully enjoyed. Even the fried oysters appetizer was flakey, crunchy w/ fresh tasting oysters. This place hasn't missed yet!

This place has rapidly become one of my favorite ramen spots in the city. At Torraku, cozy, no-frills dining meets ridiculously fast service and delicious bites. Hole-in-the-wall doesn't quite capture the wild disparity between the unassuming storefront with a Square card reader taped to a folding table and the immensely rich flavors bursting out of each dish. With that in mind, the important stuff:What to get:It's hard to go wrong with the tonkotsu ramen with black garlic. I like spicy, so I prefer to order it spicy, but it's still great even at mild. In terms of meat, the kakuni (pork belly) is my top pick, but the chasu is also fantastic. If you're still hungry, grab a plate of the chicken karaage. Those suckers are juicy. When to go:This place is pretty informal, so it's great for a lunch or casual dinner date. It can get crowded weekends, but the line moves fairly quickly. This spot used to be a food truck, and it maintains those down-to-earth vibes.

Tried something different at this local spot near work. Ordered at rye mini counter from a friendly lady. Coworker got katsudon and I had the beef yakisoba. I know that it's odd to order a non-ramen dish from a ramen shop. Food came out quickly and the yakisoba was very good! Nice chew on the noodles and lots of Teri marinated beef. Good quick lunch spot.

One of the only Japanese restaurants in the area!AMBIANCEBeautiful airy space with lots of seating and skylight. Would feel confident dining with a group of up to 8. FOODWe ordered the Katsu Chicken Sando to go and it was delicious!! They used classic squared white bread, cabbage slaw, and crispy Katsu!SERVICEOnly got take out but the very busy staff still took a moment to check in with me. Will definitely come back to sit down dine and eat some ramen :)

We were in the area, so we decided to try this place out. It looks like the way it works is that you order at the register first and then sit where you want. While my friends were still ordering, the cashier was nice enough to ask us where we wanted to sit while bringing water glasses over to the table. They even asked if we wanted the door open, and I took them up on the offer since it would help increase ventilation. I got the Seafood Ramen without garlic or spice as well as a Moshi Sparkling Yuzu drink. I loved the drink - it was refreshing with just the right amount of yuzu flavor. However, the Seafood Ramen was a little bland. Even the seafood itself, which I expected to have its own cooked flavor, tasted like it was simply boiled and added to the ramen. The noodle was the usual wavy kind. Fortunately, I was able to try a friend's ramen with black garlic to see that adding garlic would have made a big difference.Overall, I appreciated the service and the ramen is good (if you get garlic), though I've had better ramen elsewhere.ECO NOTES (Dine-In)Dine-In Dishware: Reusable bowlsNapkins: Single-use disposable paper napkinsUtensils: Disposable wooden chopsticks with reusable soup spoonWater cups: Glass cups

A big bowl of Ramen always hits the spot and Torraku Ramen is now added to my Foodie List! I ordered the Miso Ramen with Chashu with xtra Kakuni, Tofu, Fungi, and Bamboo Shoots. Yes, it came fully loaded with deliciousness and delivered rather quickly. You know the broth is delicious when you can't leave that bowl until you slurpthe last drops lol! Most definitely will order again and will try all the different ramen Torraku has to offer!
