I loved the Durian Buns at Napoleon Bakery, so I was sad when they closed. I haven't seen them at the Oakland location and other bakeries don't have anything similar. This Chinese bakery opened in its spot, and when I saw that they had them I had to stop by! 3X 榴莲包 Durian Bun: $2.00 each+Chewy bread filled w/a generous amount of rich, creamy durian filling. +Unlike Napoleon's version, the bits sprinkled on top were crunchy.Side notes:1.) No indoor seating2.) Walking distance from Chinatown Station*Verdict: One bite, and I was in love! IMO these are even better than the OG version. If you love bread and you love durian, you need to come try these! Just remember to bring cash.

A coworker tipped me into checking Stockton Bakery out for egg tarts when I was planning my San Francisco trip - and Stockton did not disappoint! Apparently, this used to be called Napoleon Bakery - but was renamed sometime over the past few years. It's sort of a hole-in-the-wall bakery - like many of the other mom and pop shops in Chinatown. Don't let that take away from the sweets and treats found in this little gem! There is an assortment of both sweet and savory breads, as well as the egg tarts!!!At $1.70 an egg tart - this is a great deal, considering 1) the egg shortage we have right now in CA, 2) the size of these egg tarts - almost 2.5x the size of typical egg tarts you get at dim sum, 3) the taste and quality of these egg tarts. The photos I took don't lie - each bite into the buttery, flaky crust leads you into a euphoria of creamy, egg-y custard. The custard filling is thick too. I can normally down like 4 of the dim-sum sized tarts - but I was already satisfied after devouring two of these tarts. There was a short line, but it moved quickly. Service is prompt and efficient. They aren't rude - it's Chinese culture to be prompt and direct. Know what you want. Have your cash ready on hand. I asked for 4 egg tarts - and the friendly clerk asked me if I bought 5, she can put it in a little box - SOLD!

My rating is for the egg tarts! Less than $2 each for a sizable tart. I ordered a dozen and was handed a pink box filled with warm, freshly baked tarts. Tender, flaky tart dough filled with lucious egg custard. We brought these to a party and everyone loved them.Line to the door on a Sunday afternoon. Patience pays off! To-go only.

Really good bakery that makes the best and the most delicious stuffed white bread in the city! They are soft, bit sweet, fluffy and tasty.Only $4.00 each! But there is one big problem, they don't write their white bread flavors in English, only in Chinese so you must ask. When I was there, they were coconut, cheese, cream.I've had the cheese, which I think was incredibly delicious.Pork floss buns, egg tarts and cakes are also highly recommended.Prices are very competitive!

This is a great bakery with unbeatable prices. I have tried their egg tarts and pineapple buns, and both are delicious. The egg tarts are about $1.80 and pineapple buns are only $1.50, and the latter are pretty sizeable. It had a nice crunch on the outside and a sweet custard filling on the inside. They also accept credit card for a slight upcharge, which not all places in Chinatown accept.

123 / 5,000The service attitude of this store is very bad. I just asked her to help me get the cakes on the top in the second line (I didn't take the ones in front of her because they were soft and some were burnt). I didn't even ask her to take the ones below, just the ones on top. She kept scolding us and saying that it's not okay for us to choose like this. Do we have no right to choose when we buy things? Do we have to buy their rotten and burnt products?

I've been having a weird craving for egg tarts lately and had a line up of shops I was going to try and stop by with high hopes one of them might be open during the recent rain storms. Unfortunately, none of the ones on my list were open, but honestly, it was for the better because it caused me to stumble upon Stockton Bakery. I couldn't be more pleased!Stockton Bakery is located in Chinatown of San Francisco. Parking is definitely a challenge on the daily and, despite the downpour, there was still no empty spot in sight. I ended up having to get dropped off while my husband circled around. I came in on a weekday around lunchtime and the bakery was busy. I was initially disheartened to see they were out of egg tarts when I arrived, but the sweet lady working there reassured me a fresh batch would be out in 10 minutes. I waited, and it was worth it! The egg tarts were super fresh and warm. They were delicious: flakey with the perfect filling in the middle. Honestly, one of the best I've ever had. Service was friendly and welcoming. Pricing was extremely fair and affordable. Justified the product without a doubt. If you're an egg tart fan like me, this is an excellent spot to stop by. I'll be back to try more of their offerings in the future!

They are finally back! One of the best deal in Chinatown. The size and taste are unbelievable for their price. Easily some of the top egg tarts in the area. Lots of goodies to try. The service is fast and friendly. It can be noisy and very busy in this area but the wait is short. Def recommend for locals and visitors.

I think this place used to be known as Napoleon Super Bakery? I stopped by here to grab some treats and got the custard bun and a few egg tarts. The custard bun was okay - the filling was a bit too gel-like for me instead of flowing yummy custard. The egg tarts though - man they're so good! So nostalgic. I saved one to eat later at home warmed up and it was even better. Would definitely recommend!I don't recall there being any seating inside.

We were searching for the best "dan tat" (Egg tarts) and Stockton Bakery checked all the boxes: light flaky tart (not greasy) and nice smooth custard and just the right egg-iness flavor with maybe a hint of vanilla.
