Happy Valentine's Day!Quality/Quantity - My wife got my daughter and I some mousses from Schubert's for Valentine's Day! Always a treat to come here, and we don't come here often enough...Mango Mousse - My favorite of the two, only because I am not a big chocolate fan. Their cakes and pastries are always done well.Chocolate Mousse - Just like the mango mousse, it is done well. Although I am not a big chocolate fan, I still ate my share, lol.So many different types of cakes, see their website.Atmosphere - A small local bakery since 1911, yes 1911! And here on Clement Street since the 1940s! Metered street parking. Free residential parking a few blocks away if you are lucky.Open 5 days a week from 9am to 4pm or 5pm, closed Monday and Tuesdays. (Sadly I keep forgetting their closed days, hence my infrequent visits). Service - Always good.Price - My wife paid, I did not ask as it was Valentine's Day. Above average prices, but worth it for quality.Owner Comment - Thanks for sharing your history and 4 ownerships on your website. Schubert's Bakery is a charming spot located along the busy foot-traffic area of Clement Street. The staff inside are very kind and eager to give recommendations, which made my visit even better. I came late in the afternoon on a Sunday, and unfortunately, many items were already sold out--so I definitely need to come back earlier to try their cake slices, like the Black Forest cake or their shortcakes!A local highly recommended the German cheesecake, saying it's hard to find anywhere else, so I gave it a try. It was good and tasted like a solid cheesecake should, but it didn't quite live up to the hype I was given. That said, I think their real specialty lies in their cookies, tarts, and cakes. My friend got a cream puff and absolutely raved about it--so fresh and delicious they ate it too fast for a photo!The bakery itself is clean and inviting, and based on what I saw, their selection looks amazing. I'll be back earlier next time to try more of what they're really known for!

I'm a lifelong schuberts fan who recently rediscovered their cakes.My parents used to get their cakes from Schubert's when I was a kid! As we got older, we stopped going here as often, and soon forgot about this place. I recently rediscovered it when I was looking for a bakery that had cakes for same day pickup on my commute from work. I ended up going there to pickup a friend's birthday cake, and grabbed a couple mini-cakes for my own and they didn't disappoint.Service there was quick and efficient, and packed the cakes so well. they kept them stored correctly since i placed the order that morning, and picked them up around 5pm, on my way home.

Prior to Covid Schubert's had inside seating available. I was disappointed that they didn't bring any back at all. There is a wood bench affair outside but if the weather is bad then nowhere to enjoy your treat ‍. With that said, for me, it's all about their Princess Cake. It's a cake that few bakeries make and none I've ever had can compare to Schubert's! That alone is worth 5 Stars.

I can't recommend this bakery any higher. They are easily the best bakery in San Francisco. As the son of European immigrants and someone who lived in Europe for years himself, this is the only bakery I've been to who can replicate great European pastries. Their cream puffs, napoleons, operas, and ganache are superb. I've literally never had a bad dessert from there. For my birthday we ordered an Opera cake from them. It was the BEST birthday cake I've ever had in my life. Not only was it absolutely gorgeous but it tasted amazing. The entire party couldn't believe how great it looked and tasted. And it was very affordable for the quality. Great bakery!!

Amazing bakery! This is a must each year for my mom's birthday celebration. The personnel is very helpful making sure that you receive the service needed. I love to have each cake with custom detail and they do that exactly as I want it. I can be picky at times. The bakery has two areas where a customer can pick up items that have been pre ordered or a line where you can choose to pick what you would like. Not noisy at all, their service keeps lines moving along pretty fast. The Swedish princess cake is a must for my mom's birthday each year. This year I also picked up a mango mousse cake that was so delicious! From my experience, I been buying cakes at Schubert's for years and each cake is soft, moist and not overly sweet. That is what I love the most. I can't do overly sweet cakes. The mango mousse was a total surprise. I could really taste the mango, and that creamy mousse went very well with the cakes bringing it all together.

I used to work down the street and patients would bring us desserts and princess cake. I've tried other princess cakes but i enjoy theirs more. Love the Nutella & rasberry pettifours as well as their guava cookies. Not too sweet but just enough. I know their hours changed after the pandemic as i was able to get dim sum next door then dessert for later. Now i just make a trek on my days off to pick up so goodies.

We ordered Schuberts for a birthday and boy was it amazing. The creme and how tasty it was blew my mind. I love the topping also because they have fresh fruits. Will def come back here

I was always interested in trying out their Apple Pies here. I heard it was delicious. I passed by today and decided to walk in and check out their selections. I gravitated towards the Mini Dutch Apple Pie. I enjoyed it, with a top crumb that was still crispy and apple filling that was just right. It was not too sweet but gave a satisfied feeling when finished.The bakery is very simple looking with a few glass vases that display their pastry, tarts, pies, and cakes. It gives off a nice feeling when you walk into this bakery, clean and brightly lit.The workers were nice and friendly. I would buy a whole Apple Pie or try their Fruit Tarts next time.

We recently ordered a large princess sheet cake for a family gathering. It was exquisitely delicious and beautifully decorated! The flavors of raspberry, cream, cake and marzipan were perfectly balanced and it tasted light as a feather. The entire experience from ordering to pickup went smoothly. This is a gem of a bakery!
