I've heard good things about this place, so I suggested it for lunch after the Chinatown Community Street Fair. Order at the register, find a table, wait for your # to appear on the screen and be called, and pick up your order. After eating, bring trays and trash to the trash cans. Our order: 金門精選 Rice Roll Special ($9.21) w/lettuce: +Rice noodles were so silky smooth and thin: Comparable to ones I've eaten in China!+Meat lovers paradise! There was beef, 2 kinds of pork (BBQ pork and regular), and egg spread throughout the rice rolls. +Lettuce was fresh and crisp.金門精選 Rice Roll Special ($9.21) w/corn: +Rice noodles were so silky smooth and thin: Comparable to ones I've eaten in China!+Meat lovers paradise! There was beef, 2 kinds of pork (BBQ pork and regular), and egg spread throughout the rice rolls. -Corn was chewy (most likely frozen): I preferred the lettuce over this.鮮蝦腸 Shrimp Rice Roll ($6.91) w/lettuce: +Rice noodles were so silky smooth and thin: Comparable to ones I've eaten in China!+Lettuce was fresh and crisp.-Small amount of shrimp鮮豆漿 Fresh Soy Milk ($2.76): It was fine, but probably wouldn't get it again.+Drinkable temperature: Hot, but doesn't burn your mouth/tongueSide notes:1.) Restrooms available for customers2.) Walking distance from Chinatown Station*Verdict: I think I've found my new fave rice noodle roll spot!Service was efficient, and I loved how customizable everything was. We were able to add 1 free veg w/each rice noodle roll (bean sprouts, cilantro, corn, lettuce, scallions) AND there was a self-serve condiment station (chili sauce, peanut sauce, soy sauce, sweet sauce sesame seeds).I'll definitely be back for more!

I was walking around Chinatown and saw this rice roll place. Gave me the same vibes as Joes rice roll in NY. Ordered the standard shrimp roll which was $7.51 after taxes the fees. This place only accepts cash but takes Venmo too, which is why I remember the exact amount lol. The order came out in about 5ish minutes after reordering. They have different condiments at the front where you order which is nice. Looks wise, the rolls looks amazing. The rice noodle was thin and held the filling well. The downside was the filling. The shrimp was so small, probably smaller than my thumb nail. And I counted only 5 pieces of shrimp out of the whole order. You can see how deceiving it is to receive a huge plate but get so little filling. To pay $1.50 per shrimp!!??? That's robbery. Until they decide to not skimp out on the fillings, you'll never find me here.

Spacious restaurant! You'll order first and seat yourself. Wait times are quick, there were 7 people ahead of us and we got our order in 15-20 minutes. They have a variety of sauces to add at the counter as well as soy sauce and sriracha for every table. Tables are always clean. The rice roll itself is fresh and thin, comparable to Joe's in NYC! The #1 special filling had an even amount of each meat. The #2 shrimp fest was good but the fresh shrimp is small and I'm used to the larger shrimps at dim sum. I would recommend if you're looking to sit down and relax after exploring chinatown!

This semi-new cheung fun spot in Chinatown has me hooked! I came by yesterday to order 1 shrimp, 1 beef and a hot soy milk. The wait wasn't too bad, you just watch your number on the screen. The cheung fun was silky smooth wrapped in your choice of meat and 1 choice of veggie (I got lettuce). They have a small sauce station by the cash register (sriracha, peanut, and soy sauce). Since I got my order to go, I noticed two gigantic home made packets of special soy sauce! Soo delicious! They also serve up porridge and black sesame soup. The price is also so decent! No credit cards. Venmo, Zelle or cash. Definitely stopping by again the next time im in Chinatown!

Rice Roll Express was on the top of my "Places to Visit" list when I was planning out my trip to San Francisco. The different reviews and photos already shared by others just had me salivating and hyped to stop by. RRE did not disappoint!!! It was so good as a late breakfast/early brunch, that I actually stopped by as a late afternoon snack before heading back to my hotel. The serving size is generous - and while it fills you up - being that it is rice rolls - you don't stay full for long. Service was great! I told the friendly clerk that it was my first time and he suggested their Special Plate - which has a combo filling of Beef, Pork, BBQ Pork, and Egg. You can choose an additional garnish - which the guy selected for me to be lettuce. I also ordered their hot soymilk drink, which was delicious! Wait-time is about 10 to 15 minutes - everything is made to order, so your food comes out fresh and hot. Soy sauce bottles upfront, but I noticed a few scattered around the seating areas. It looks small on the outside, but there's plenty of seating on the inside. There is a bar/stool style seating on the side wall, as well as tables and chairs throughout. The quality and uniqueness of the rice rolls here is apparent upon first bite. The roll tasted fresh - a hint of creamyness (either from fat or oil), as well as the generous fillings. It made each bite memorable, if that makes sense. It wasn't like traditional rice rolls from Dim Sum, but reminded me more like Vietnamese banh cuon rolls due to the thinness of the rolls. The fillings were flavorful, and unique enough from one another that you can taste them apart (rather than a mish mash of similar tasting fillings). Cash and Venmo accepted here!Literally cannot wait to come back - already have a small trip planned during the Lunar New Year celebration.

Their rice rolls are freshly made, soft, and delicious. The sauce adds great flavor, making them filling enough for a full meal. You can also add vegetables for extra freshness. Just keep in mind that they don't take credit cards, only cash or Zelle and Venmo.

Food: the most perfect quick bite i have ever had. Thinly steamed rice rolls with all the toppings you could ever want inside. Unlimited sauce for you to use. Great price. If you like the dim sum rice roll, you'll love this because it's similar but so many more options for filling! Service: nice cashiers and clear menu! Ambiance: plenty of seating. A lot of people come and go pretty quickly so there's a steady supply of chairs This place is so underrated. I am excited that they came to this neighborhood and am wishing this restaurant all the best! All of us enjoyed this thoroughly!!!

Fresh, healthy, and quick. This is a no frills rice roll place in Chinatown, taking over the old Little Paris location. For a Chinatown establishment, there was ample seats within.Ordering was easy and they will call your number when it's ready. If ordering rice rolls, you will have a choice of adding 1 free vegetable to it (like corn, scallions, bean sprouts, etc). You get 3 rolls per order. The herbal soymilk is just normal hot soymilk with a jam/paste made with goji berries and jujubes added to it. It's hot, not too sweet and very enjoyable to drink. These rice rolls have a silky, delicate, and thin texture. It doesn't really have the glutinous "chew" that normal rice rolls have. They have a variety of condiments that you can dress your rolls with. They cost a bit more (still less than $10) than other places but it is made fresh in house upon order. Overall, it was good and I definitely would be back if I am looking for a quick, hot and delicious lunch.

Stopped by for a quick lunch takeout after grocery shopping in Chinatown and the food was soooo satisfying and heartwarming! I ordered the special which included all the different kinds of protein, and it was only $10! Everything tasted warm and fresh. The service was super fast, and I loved that there were so many different sauces and condiments out like soy sauce, peanut sauce, chili oil, etc that you could add. The staff were very accommodating because I initially ordered dine in but then asked for takeout after getting my order. I also added the cilantro and green onion at home myself since those would have cost extra if I ordered it.Would definitely recommend for a quick bite in the area! I'm interested in trying their congee and soy milk next time.

I keep walking by Rice Roll Express whenever I'm in Chinatown and always see a line inside, so I finally gave them a try. The prices are fair for the portion size, but overall, the rice rolls were nothing special. Like others have mentioned, they lacked flavor. I had to add a lot of hot sauce and soy sauce just to make it more enjoyable, but I don't see myself returning.I ordered the house special rice roll, which is supposed to have pork, BBQ pork, beef, and egg, but all I really tasted was ground pork. You do get to choose a vegetable to add in, and the kind lady at the counter recommended lettuce, which was fine. I also tried the rice porridge, but it was watery and bland. On the plus side, they make everything fresh to order, and they have both takeout and indoor seating. But with so many better (and cheaper) rice roll spots on the same street, I wouldn't go out of my way for this one.
