Radio Habana is hosting Nixta right now and you don't want to miss it! Nixta makes delicious, vegan, El Salvadoran papusas and tamales with a gourmet, yet affordable, twist. The flavor and texture are so well done that I quickly forgot I was eating vegan!! We had the Mushroom & Spinach, the Spicy Red Bean, and the Summer Squash papusas and all of the were mouth watering good. The spice in all of the food was pleasantlyTingly but didn't overwhelm and you can taste that Gabriel (owner) only chooses fresh organic ingredients. We also had the Mom's Tamale and OH MY GOODNESS! The Masa was so rich and good and the chimichurri on top was dynamic, spicy, and...green tasting. Like, I think I tasted Mother Earth if she were a flavor. Go try this tamale. Nixta will be Radio Habana Tuesday through Sunday until 6pm for the next little while.

Oh my god, the empenadas - to die for. My friend and I split one and it was a great little snack. Amazing alfajor cookies also. Quaint little space with eclectic art. Indoor and outdoor seating. They do accept card/Apple Pay.

I just came in here to use the bathroom, and I was so blown away by the look and feel of the place, I stayed for a cup of tea. If you want to experience the vibe of old San Francisco, this is a museum to the city that once was home to hippies and punks. There are strange bands playing music out front. Chaotic doll assemblies stare at you from the ceilings. Come experience the San Francisco I once loved.

Cash only! Got a pitcher of sangria for $26 to share among a group of 3. Came on a Saturday night around 9pm. They have live music, which is a cool vibe to chill to if you're in the mission district. We just happened to stumble upon here after eating dinner around the area.

$28 for a pitcher of sangria is not bad, but one star off for being CASH ONLY (and no signs to let you know ahead of time). Another star off for randomly closing whenever they feel like it. They're supposed to be open until 11pm, but they closed before 10pm. They have NO FOOD OR DESSERTS available either. They didn't even have a menu. While I like the small, homey vibe of the bar, it's run so randomly and not professional at all. I enjoyed the experience of the unique decor but probably won't be back for this particular bar. The live music is a great addition to the relaxing vibe though!

The Radio Habana Social Club is an experience. Dada art, sangria to split, and and an all-ages hang all make this place exceptional, like a post-card from another era of San Francisco that we might be able to hold on to if we actually push back on gentrification. The average group here is a couple or two friends, splitting sangria and likely a bite to eat. The food isn't the star here, the ambiance is. We got the flan, which was fabulous, and the maker of said-flan was onsite drinking at the small bar. There is table service if you get food, or bar service if you don't. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a long night of conversation, art, and friends in a small space free from the SF tech-bro scene.

Leila, the owner, was one of the nicest people I met in Mission. Not only her, but the people were so inviting. I can't recommend this enough for anyone who wants a lively night during the weekends, or a fun, calm, musical night for the weeknight evenings to destress and get your mind off things. The artwork is incredible, all hand made, by a local sculpturer and painter. You can stare at the walls for hours if you wanted to. There's games and sometimes even a movie playing! Lastly, if you're a fan of Sangria - I promise you, this will be the best Sangria you've tasted in San Francisco!

I think maybe the reason some people give this place a low rating is because they're focused on the wrong things. This place is a museum.I stumbled into Radio Habana on my way to the 24th Street Bart. I had a long ride ahead of me and I needed to, ahem, use the facilities. I sat down and suddenly realized I had been transported to the San Francisco I missed so much. I moved in 1997, and there were still traces of the fantastic city that was home to artists, freaks, and fabulousness. It's still a wonderful city, but the hippy energy was intense. There was a cello performance out front with patrons gathered in the cold watching. Inside, a wonderful crone was serving tea and advice. I felt hugged by the whole experience. Don't come there hoping for a "whoo we got so drunk" good time - come to take in the artwork, the ambiance, and the music.I didn't have anything to eat or drink because it was a utility stop, but the place is emblazoned in my mind forever. Go Radio Habana!!
