Pier 23 Cafe Restaurant & Bar

A restaurant not taken by the glitze and glamour of San Francisco. Home made meals with a family friendly atmosphere. The food was great, highly recommend the clam chowder with sourdough. We also enjoyed our espresso martini's and the staff was very attentive.A true gem along the embarcadero, we will return!

Food was terrible. We ordered fish and chips and we are literally feeling sick.Service was good and fast. All the staff were respectful and welcoming, hence why the two stars!The ambiance has two sides, the bar inside and the calm and peaceful vibe of the ocean on the outside. It's imo up to you which one you prefer. We sat outside and we don't regret it.

Food was good and decent price.On another hand today the server outside was a really a jerk making the whole experience not enjoyable. Sarcasm and not very patient with anything even coworkers explained he was rude to them today. That's says a lot.Outdoor the view is nice especially when the blue angles are here.

A sunny day makes this a perfect stop for a divey bite sitting outside. The fish tacos were crispy accompanied with sesame, cucumber, jalapeño, avocado, cilantro and a miso aioli sauce.

Came here only because Anthony Bourdain came here once and raved about it. I can see why. My husband and I both ordered the fish and chips. We also got a calamari app. Food was great came out nice and hot. The fish and chips were nice and crispy. We also got some drinks. The only thing missing was straws for our drinks. But, other than that all was delicious.

The fish and chips are amazing the portions are big this was our first time here we came from Texas to visit family and decided to stop here for lunch if we ever come back we will definitely return to eat here. The staff is amazing and they are very friendly and helpful.

Easy location on the Embarcadero. Decent prices, especially for drinks. Food menu is small and kind of like pub food. Got some oyster at 3/$10 which was a decent value and they we cold and tasty. I couldn't finish my chicken sandwich because it was too greasy, despite ordering it to try to get a "healthier" option. I wish I had known it was two thick slices of sourdough slathered in butter and with chicken thighs because I would have gotten something else. Tasted good, just way too heavy of a dish for lunch. Fish and chips, same, super greasy but cooked well. Fries clearly don't have their own fryer as the fries tasted like fish, which was quite unpleasant. Nice patio and location. Staff was attentive at first but it took a long time to flag them down to pay. Definitely wouldn't come back unless it is to drink since the $8 beer and a shot special is crazy cheap. I was surprised our friend in SF recommended this place as she usually wouldn't get this type of food, but maybe they changed their menu.

LOOOOOVE THIS PLACE and the staff are very attentive. The portions of the calamari and chicken wings was not bad at all and the bartenders know what they're doing. NOt only great ambiance but the views of the water!

Came here on a whim.... it's been several years since I've been. The menu is a QR code, which is fine, but it prompts customers to pay through the app as well. So essentially, I paid for the meal AND TIP prior to receiving our drinks, food and service. The waitress came to our table to confirm our order. We ordered cocktails--requested "tall" & "up" which we assumed meant we wanted double the alcohol in a tall glass. We weren't driving, so why not?? Anyway, the waitress says she's going to reverse the drink charges because I would most likely get a better deal just ordering at the bar. At this point, I'm confused, we'd been walking all friggin day, the last thing on Earth I wanted to do was leave my bestie (who was visiting from out of town), get up and go wait at the effing bar to order our drinks. But there was no other option really. The charges had already been reversed and the waitress didn't offer to put the drink order in at the bar for us. So, I order the drinks and get back to my bestie to continue our long overdue visit. Drinks arrive... not very stiff at all. The mai tai was weird... looked like a piña colada on the rocks with a mint sprig. Then the food comes. Calamari, 2 cups of chowder and a shrimp louie split onto 2 plates. Everything was hella salty. I love savory foods and I'm not one to skimp on seasonings or salt but GAAHHH DAMN it was salty!We still ate and drank with no complaints to the staff though. There was no need for us to ruin our vibe or anyone else's. We were starvin, our legs were tired, our feet hurt and we were just grateful to SIT lol, catch up on life, and gaze out at the Bay. We simply made a mental note that Pier 23 doesn't appear to be the same ol' dive that we locals loved so dearly

Used to come here many years ago for happy hour. Stopped by for old times sake and P23 did not disappoint.Burger is delicious. Fish and chips are crispy. Sundae excellent. Service fast. Nice patio. Will be back.
