This place looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. It's really cute inside. They communicated to our group an approximate wait time and sat us within that time frame. The service was quick once we ordered our food. It was delicious and we ordered a lot! The pan fried rice noodles were semi-addicting. The crisp on the outside of the sesame balls was light, not over cooked, and they had a moist chewiness to it; a different bean or maybe lighter in color than what I'm accustomed to, but still good flavor. The flavors for the dim sum dishes we ordered were all great! The price was awesome for a group of 5. Don't burn your esophagus as you eat the hot and sour soup. It was so good, but it came out piping hot! Loved it!None from our group ordered any alcohol, but it seemed like they had a legit bar available. And the bathroom was clean for such an old building. Hope you enjoy your meal there, as we all did. Would definitely return here when we are in SF again. They had a funny chalkboard sign that said something along the lines of food and whiskey, what else do you need?!?Agree!

Osmanthus is the best. I rediscovered* it during the pandemic, primarily because it had a charming outdoor seating area, but it's become my regular spot for dim sum in SF. The staff is warm and professional, the dishes are delicious, the full bar is a nice perk, and the prices are really fair. Most of their classic dumplings are solid, but my weak spot is for their zong zi and their salted yolk sesame balls (daytime only for the latter).I've often ended up here with a large crew of friends (sometimes with reservations, sometimes not), and Osmanthus always manages to seat us quickly and take great care of us. *It's not that old but I used to go here years ago when it was Enrico's jazz bar: happy to say that Osmanthus still reflects the bohemian vibrance of SF (since I always end up there with artists and writers), just in a different way.

Lots of seating and open-bar ambience and seated right away @ walk-in. Staff very attentive and checked on us . Dim sums were satisfactory but not super impressive. The food didn't arrive as hot ( temperature) as I prefer, especially the congee soup. Otherwise, tasty and savory dishes.

This dim sum restaurant is a hidden gem! The storefront is recessed with nice outdoor seating, so if you drive by, you would easily missed it. Their service is fast and friendly, the setting is very comfortable. Their service best part? The dim sum is solid, and their portion is healthy! To top it off, they also have a nice cocktail bar, so you can have dim sum while trying some cocktails. Definitely it a try if you are in North Beach area.

Cute, busy spot with whimsical lantern lamps and wood accents. The staff were decently attentive especially when we first sat v down. The crispy onion cakes were great hot out the kitchen. The Shanghai crab and pork soup dumplings had plenty of crab and yummy broth. The BBQ pork had the pillowy dumpling texture you would expect from a steamed bun. The beef noodle roll was interesting. I'm not v sure what itv actually is but the flavor was nice. The STAR was the salt v and pepper wings. Perfectly crispy and seasoned!

Went here for lunch and it did not disappoint! They were moderately busy on a Saturday right before noon, though we got seated quickly and efficiently. You place your order on a giant piece of paper and flag down your server to get that order ready for you. The food came out quickly as well. Everything that we had was tasty! My only commentary would be that the garlic noodles were a little too salty for my palate. Another colleague of mine dining with us, had to eat the garlic noodles with plain white rice, to cut down on the saltiness. Overall, the ambiance is modern with large tables to seat bigger parties or those that order tons of food. I would definitely eat here again!

The location is great with parking close by. The restaurant is spacious. We were seated right away. They offer online reservations too. Order from a paper menu marking what we wanted. The food was paced out well. We over ordered but ate it all. The service was friendly. Great Christmas Eve option!

Osmanthus impressed, despite my family being initially slightly skeptical over it being a cart-less dim sum spot. Overall ambiance feels more upscale than any other dim sum spot I've ever been to, but this didn't come with a compromise in authenticity at all. Every dish we tried had its own unique flavor, which sets high-quality dim sum apart from generic dim-sum that often feels like the same blend of meat is used over and over. Ingredients felt fresh & high-quality. Would definitely return & highly recommend!

Outstanding Chinese dim sum! Don't skip this place on your next SF visit. We got an assortment of dim sum and loved it all. The shrimp dumplings were not too chewy and the vegetarian buns were delicious. We ordered chicken chow mein and it was a HUGE portion! Could have fed a table of four or five easily with leftovers. It was very good, well cooked and seasoned noodles and not overdone. DO NOT SKIP the string beans with XO sauce!! I am still dreaming and craving these a week out. It is crowded and loud inside and if you don't have a reservation you might be in for a long wait. The service is ok but it doesn't matter because the food is fantastic! In a city where Chinese food is on every corner Osmanthus absolutely stands out!
