I used to frequent the Noe Valley location but recently I've been coming to the West Portal store; & while the handful of birthday cakes I've picked up have been crowd pleasers, they're missing the mark with individual-sized pastries. I can accept that they've done away with regular-sized cupcakes if the minis were just as good, but they are poor imitations of what once was; the Mostest Cupcake is barely filled & the Lemon Drop, bone dry. And at $3.40 each, I'd rather spend a buck or two more for bigger & better elsewhere. On our last visit, we shared a Milky Way Bombe ($6.85.) A myriad of textures & a variety of chocolatey tastes in the chocolate mousse, cake, & chips that sit under a chocolate dome shell, but for all its pizzazz, this one was just ok. NVB carries the tri-colored Mardi Gras King Cake but we passed on grabbing one as the flavor is not traditional cinnamon but rather chocolate almond paste. We can't be all things to all people, & that is certainly the case with NVB West Portal. The Noe-O Cake, in particular, is a hit with my fam, as is the Lemon Passionfruit (& you can't beat the price for the quality), but I think those are the only items they'll be supplying me with moving forward. It's a nice bakery to have in my back pocket, I just can't say I love everything about 'em.

I've been going to NVB for years now. I used to go to their Noe Valley location & then switched to the west portal location when they opened. The croissants are great & so are the cakes. The bread is made fresh and is amazing as well. The one downside is to see how much the prices have gone up. Almost $7 for an almond croissant??? Insane to me. The staff is pretty friendly but I have run into some not so friendly staff members here as well. Overall 4/5. The almond croissant is my favorite.

It is often confusing explaining to someone who is not from San Francisco that this Noe Valley Bakery is not located in Noe Valley but in West Portal. This is the second location for the Noe Valley bakery and I came to try the Pumpkin Cheesecake since Pumpkin season is coming to an end. This location has a very consistent taste to the location in Noe Valley. The pumpkin cheesecake was not too cheesy or too sweet but very rich and bit savory but tasty. I also got the croissant which was buttery and savory and it had a good texture and wasn't flaky like some in SF. A good second location bakery for the sweet and savory. Although both neighborhood are different and both neighborhoods are distant But both San Francisco Noe Valley Bakery in Noe Valley and West Portal locations keep it very consistent

Hmmm. Where's my previous Yelp review?I've been coming off and on since they first opened this outpost. Either eating in or taking to go. Inside dining is gone now. Tuesday and Thursday is senior day. This afternoon I waited in the queue that forms by the front entrance. The must try is the tropical bombe. Yuzu coating, coconut cream, passion fruit bavarian on top vanilla chiffon cake. An afternoon treat. I also got their cherry chocolate chip bread loaf. Always a winner. They offer cake by the slice in addition to whole cakes. Another favorite is the cranberry lemon scone. Service is friendly but be patient as the goodies need to be bagged and/or boxed. There is a preorder option if you prefer.

Omg probably one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. It's moist, chocolatey, light, delectable! Definitely making the trip to come back and try all their other sweets!

I've stopped in multiple times for a pastry and always have been satisfied with my choices. I recently ordered two birthday cakes: salted caramel chocolate and strawberry. We were very happy with both flavors! The strawberry was my favorite, it was sweet while still being light and airy.

Their Apple Dutch pie is AMAZING! The crust, the crumble on top, and the apples are seasoned perfectly. They have other good pastries as well like their cupcakes or their pear raspberry tartlet. All really good

This was my first time ever visiting this particular bakery and I wanted to check it out with such great high ratings online. I didn't even know this cute little neighborhood was back here and I was only maybe five minutes off of 19th St. as I was heading home to Petaluma.Such a quaint little neighborhood I ended up parking about two blocks away, but it was nice to get out and stretch my legs! As I walked up to the café, it was literally a line out the door so I figured I may as well just wait. As I walked in, there were four different cases of decadent desserts. Three of them were different types of cakes and one case was croissant/bread type Pastries. I also liked the fact they had a cake by the slice calendar! So cute! I took a picture and posted their cake by the slice schedule for August! Very thoughtful for all the local peopleI ended up getting an apricot danish, a cardamom danish, a mini carrot cake with nuts as well as the yellow Lilikoi/passionfruit cake and the lemon tart! Everything tasted delicious and fresh!! I also really appreciated that while I was purchasing the apricot danish and mini carrot cake. The lady helping me specifically stated both of those items had nuts baked into them. Really sweet that she made the extra effort to make sure I was buying something that contained nuts and that I did not have any allergens to nuts themselves.I also got an iced vanilla oat milk latte and I really like the fact they make their own vanilla!! I mean, vanilla syrup!! I could tell the difference with the flavor since it didn't taste over synthetic or processed like sugar. I love those little extra steps that small businesses make to give you that extra home like feeling when you shop there ! I will definitely be back next time I'm passing through!!

Visiting SF and wanted a quick pastry in the morning as a snack, we passed by it and it looked good so we all grabbed a couple of items. The decor and building were alright and for some reason it made me think the food would just be mid, but it ended up being a lot better than I expected or thought. Even tho we were just in and out of there, it was fairly busy when we went. The service was really nice.I ordered the ham and cheese tile and tried my friends quiches and the pizza pastry. Overall they were all pretty good and better than I expected. The quiche was like nice and eggy, soft. The pizza tile was actually a lot better than I expected, not as heavy as I thought. I got the ham and tile and to me it was just ok, good.Overall, if you just want something quick and easy and good for to go, this is a good spot. Super great if you're nearby.
