Good afternoon,My name is Spencer I am new yelp reviewer. Let me just tell you what an amazing experience I have had every SINGLE time I have ever been the Murphys. Not only is the customer service exceptional but the drinks are cold and the vibes are positive. Please join me and my fellow peers in recognizing such a beautiful establishment. One of the best bars in fidi! Such amazing energy and the staff is so amazing and kind. They also just opened the kitchen and have fries! Definitely a must for downtown.

Always a 5 star for this place. Full transparency, I've been coming here for years! I love local places and places that transcend time. The grill is back open!!! Yes, that's right! Limited menu but enough for everyone. I left full and satisfied. Val is still the GOAT as one reviewer posted. Love her!! She is quick to greet you and keep you served. I love the local crowd and tourists alike. Great place for any and all. Please stop in. The space has great character. You'll love it and will want to return!

Murphy's is back open, a sign that the city is coming back to life.This was my local for many years; on the way back home after a long day at the office would pop in for a pint occasionally and it's a great local bar. When I saw it boarded up during the pandemic it felt like a little piece of SF had died.Then, on a rare trip back into the city tonight, saw the lights were back on and had to go in. The main bar hasn't changed a bit, still the same great selection and Val's behind the bar. She's an absolute gem who came over from Dave's (now The Lark and thus full of wankers) and it was lovely to chew the fat over what was open, what was no more, and where the life left in the city was.My mate and I ended up staying for multiple beers, it was that good to be back, and the bar is coming to life again. The kitchen is still closed (although the food was a bit meh) and the secondary bar in the back is still shuttered. But locals still come in and it's a proper SF pub again. Also, they haven't raised their prices - unlike most - and still a $7 pint for really good beer. So glad to see it return.

Was in town visiting and a buddy from Sacramento came to town to say hello. He said "We have to go to Murphy's Pub...my wife and I always come here when we are in town!"I like hanging out in places that aren't necessarily too touristy so we stopped by for a couple of beers and had an awesome time. Decent beer selection, very friendly staff and great atmosphere. I ended up talking with some people at the bar for quite some time. Love this friendly type of environment where you can talk to a random stranger and feel like old friends when you're saying good bye. Service at the bar was quick, beer was cold and glasses were clean. Also, music in the background was great. That's pretty darn good in my book.

Cool bar. Great atmosphere. Cold drinks. No food anymore. That's the only drawback. But if I wasn't hungry & only wanted a chill bar.....I'd come here. The service was fast and quick!

I was happy to see an Irish pub in the financial district. The person behind the bar, I think the owner, was very personable and was on point about my drink. I'm giving this place 4 stars because it should have had more pub food on the menu.

Food is not even good here. I've eaten the food here with coworkers over 20 times here, and every time, my food was extremely bland and overcooked. You pay a high price for low end food. I've seen rats and cockroaches at Murphy's but just ignore it because I'm not the kind of person to cause a fuss. Their location being in the Financial district is what saves them. What pushed me over the edge in giving them a bad review for my last experience there. So, I met my coworkers for happy hour in the back patio outside. I ordered one beer and after 20 minutes, I went downstairs to go order another drink for a coworker. As I walked down the stairs (holding my first beer still), I tripped on a corner of the mat, on one of the stair's landing. The corner of the mat was flipped up causing me to trip and almost fall down the steps. I could have gotten hurt badly, but good thing, I was able to regain my balance and not take the tumble. (Yes, I was able to save the beer too. None of it spilled. If I was drunk, I would have fell and /or dropped my drink.) As I got to the bar, the bartenders told me I had to leave because their manager said I was too drunk. I was shocked. I thought it was a joke and asked are you serious? Then they got really upset with me and said they'd call the cops if I didn't leave immediately. So of course I left. I ended up going to Irish Bank, which is more of an aIrish pub. Murphy's is not an Irish pub, let alone a pub btw. I told the Irish Bank's staff my story and asked if they thought I was too drunk to be there and they all agreed that the Murphy's Pub staff was crazy. I get it, Murphy's owner's doesn't care for this one customer's experience they soured, because they have a great location to have whatever foot traffic they get. I suggest going to Irish Bank over this dirty facility and the unpleasant staff at Murphy. I have one star, but wish I can give zero. 3.5 stars on Yelp is still a bad score. 4 stars is ok. 4.5-5 stars is great.

Excellent food , be sure to try the corn beef nachos and the shepherds pie. Good selection of beers Personable servers Live music . Great, fun place
