This is the answer to Indian food in the area. Not many options in the Uptown area of Oakland when it comes to Indian food. On Wednesday during the day there is a Farmers Market that has a vendor with some good Indian food. The India Gourmet has some good Chicken Tikka Masala. The service was good.

Be impressed by their outdoor tandoori oven. You can watch them shape the naan, throw it in the oven and pull it out fresh and hot. The naan is slipped into the tent with a hook into a pile - you can't get any fresher than that. While you're waiting in line, they have free samples. You can get rice bowls or wraps ($7), samosas, drinks, or tubs of various curries and sauces for $5 each. * Lamb wrap ($7): the curry is deep, rich and flavorful, it tastes like it's been cooked for hours, the chunks of lamb are nice and tender, the hot, soft, puffy naan is wonderful, but some of the rice was undercooked/hard. Also it would be better with some mint chutney or other sauces. It's much saucier than a burrito.Find them on Sundays at the Stonestown Farmers Market.Cash only.

I come to the Stonestown Farmer's Market for one thing only: Chicken Tikka Masala (Hot) to go and a slice of naan. Okay, and maybe some fresh fruits. And bread, cheese, and potstickers from the other other vendors there. Well - mainly for the chicken tikka masala. When my boyfriend and I get Indian food we can easily spend $25+ for two curries, naan and rice. If I come to the farmers market, I can get a fair deal on a small tub of chicken tikka masala ($5, $10 for large) and a flat piece of leavened naan ($2). It's great for a quick lunch plus a little extra.Of the flavours I've tried, the chicken tikka is my favourite. I didn't care for the saag (/palak) at all and threw it out. The other flavours are good but the tikka is easy to eat and makes for great leftovers. For the price you can't go wrong. It's fast, cheap, filling food. As a fast-food Indian joint it gets 4/5

Some of the best Indian I've had ever. Seriously! Very well flavored, lean meat chicken, very nice people, and just excellent food in every respect! Go go go!

This place is super cheap and equally filling. The food is good and will leave you with plenty of leftovers. The freshly made naan is my absolute favorite. I would eat it even if I had no curry to dip it with. The chicken tikka masala has a great flavor. However, the chicken is dry. The big chunks of chicken should be cut into smaller pieces in order to let them marinate in the sauce more. The samosas are dirt cheap. One for $1 is such a good deal. They taste good. My only suggestion is that they be heated up. They taste room temperature, if not cold. In conclusion, this place is good. I will definitely be back.

I LOVE going to the Stonestown farmer's market on Sundays and picking up a Tikka Masala wrap. It's basically an Indian food burrito. And so delish. I want to eat this always.

only thing i tried was Mango Lassi for $1 (8 oz cup)despite the price, its NOT WORTH IT! (why pay $1 for badly flavored water?)it was totally tasteless, not cold, and very watery. Where is the Yogurt or Mango Pulp???MANGO LASSI RECIPE (based on taste) = water + milk powder + mango powder *notice the non-mention of yogurt and mango (fresh or pulp)...no trace taste of either ingredient...not a mango lassi at all

We tried the lamb curry rice bowl ($7). The guy just threw some rice in a plastic container and poured the curry on top of it. Wish they had more stuff like veggies in it. Plus, we think the presentation can be improved. The rice was a little undercooked, and we've had better curry than that. But everything tasted decent.
