We very rarely come to the Daly City area as we live in Sacramento, so when we do, we always make it a point to pass by House of Silvañas when we're in the neighborhood. Simply because of the pastries they sell. Most of all for me, the Sans Rival is not to be missed! It is on a level of quality and taste that its closest competitors cannot match...not by miles! The sans rival is so good...the meringue is so crunchy and the buttercream is so rich! The place is just small, but the service is just great. And the staff is a friendly and helpful bunch. But it is what they sell that stands out most! If you are in the area, you just have to try their sweets!

If you want Silvanas or Sansrival, you have to go to the House of Silvanas in Daly City. This place reminds me of when I was a little child in the Philippines. It's one of our favorite pastries and cakes. The place is next to a Filipino restaurant and it's easy to find. It's also next to a large Mercedez Benz dealer. The place has 7 choices Silvanas, Buko Pandan, Original Buttercream, Ube, Chocolate, Strawberry, Mango, and Mocha. There's a combo price for 14 pieces (2 of each) at a reasonable price. We ended up getting this so that we could taste all the flavors. The service was very fast and the lady behind the counter was very helpful. They also offer ensaimada and cheese rolls. The Sansrival looks delicious but we've to pass on them since we ordered a lot of Silvanas. If you're craving for Silvanas or Sansrival, the House of Silvanas is a go-to place

A very small bakery specializing in Silvanas. Ended up finding this gem after pulling up next door to Chibog for lunch. I had never heard or Silvanas before, so I was intrigued, and went after lunch to take a look and try it. In terms of service/ambiance, it is very bare bones. Until you ring the bell for service, no one will come greet or welcome you to the bakery. There were a few other pastries available other than silvanas. And one silvanas were in a freezer behind the display. After ringing the bell for service, the attending employee was kind of rude and stand-offish and not very approachable. As a first time customer to the bakery and to Silvanas, my friends and I had questions such as which were the most popular flavors, what different terms meant, whether it was best eaten now vs would hold well for takeout, etc. But the responses were very short and not friendly. This is mostly a takeout spot, as the indoors is not tailored for sit down eating.. even though we were told the silvanas were best enjoyed there. I got the Buko-pandan silvana, and it is a crunchy cookie with buttercream in the middle. Because it was stored in the freezer and best served cold, the outer cookie has a crisp to it and a tasted faintly like something that was freeze dried or stored in dry ice. I'm glad I tried it, but not sure I'd be coming back for more. My friends and I were told that the original flavor was the most popular

To die for! I heard this is the original Silvanas and indeed I have tried others that pale in comparison. Worth the drive and the price.

I always have to make a stop here whenever I'm in the area, just because their silvanas are delicious. Store was empty when I came in due to the rain, but the inside of the store was very lackluster. I'm sure everyone comes in to just get their desserts, but the displays could probably be done up a little more, and there were freezers outside in the customer area that weren't to be touched? A little odd, but maybe there's something put there seasonally. When we went, silvanas cost $3.50 a piece or 14 for $36. I love their desserts, but their store definitely leaves a lot to be desired.

A hidden treasure!I heard about House of Silvanas on social media. If you don't know what silvanas are, I like to think of them kind of like a Filipino version of a French macaron. French macarons are sandwich cookies made from almond meal while Filipino silvanas are sandwich cookies made from crushed cashews. If you've ever had Sans Rival cake, the Silvanas are just a cookie version of that.My boyfriend and I stopped in a few months ago just so I could try them out, at the time we only got 3 pieces, and they turned out to be super delicious! I was obsessed that I had him go back a week later and get me more! he ended up buying me the assorted 14-piece box haha. I do have to say though that they're obviously way better when they're fresh. They lose their nice texture even when you freeze them, so next time I'll just buy what I can finish that day. My favorite flavors were the original and strawberry.Perfect dessert to bring to a potluck or to gift someone.

Oh my goodness. The silvanas - I can't really find a good description for them aside from being crispy macaron like sandwich cookies that are very sweet but extremely good. Interesting flavors such as ube and pandan. Really unique find and they are amazing !!! Worth getting for sure.

I remember in the Philippines when growing up Silvanas were popular even though they are a little bit expensive than the rest. They made the single serving wrapped individually. It was good then but trying them here I was disappointed really. Ive had them more than a couple times but it was for the last several years. Just recently after 2-3 years not having them, I find it too sweet now and too much butter! Too much butter in between and on the toppings too. The bread in between looks like a white toasted bread and theres not that much peanuts. Im sorry to say but I like Goldilocks better now. Everything is perfect. The butter, the fillings and peanuts.

We've been loyal customers since this place opened, always ordering our special occasion cakes and silvanas here. We called to order a hazelnut sans rival for pick-up, and we were assured it was available. However, when we arrived, we were handed a regular sans rival instead. The staff claimed we didn't order hazelnut, but my husband specifically requested it twice during the call, and I was right there to confirm it.To make matters worse, we had ordered and fully paid for a half-sheet sans rival ($110), yet the owner suggested we take a 1/4 sheet instead. That wasn't an option since we needed a half-sheet cake. Ultimately, we had no choice but to take the incorrect cake, even though it wasn't what we wanted. We weren't asking for a free cake - just an acknowledgment of their mistake. Instead, three staff members insisted we were the ones at fault, treating us like we lied about the order. On top of this, the quality has noticeably declined. The butter icing tastes different - it seems like they might have changed brands or started using a mixture of butter and something else instead of all butter. To make matters worse, the meringue was overbaked, leaving it with a burnt taste. You can see from the photo how dark and almost burnt the layers are. This experience has been deeply disappointing, especially given our long-standing loyalty to this establishment.
