An adorable neighbor gem! Went here to try French food for the first time with my partner and it was delicious! All the staff are very friendly and quick to anticipate needs. The restaurant is cozy and intimate, perfect for date night! We got the prix fixe menu each. For the appetizers, we got the escargot and ChouChou Mussels; both were very flavorful and perfect size for appetizers. My partner got the cassoulet; it was flavorful with the tomatoes adding a nice acidity and duck was super tender. The Duck Wellington was also delicious; perfectly flaky with the duck was falling off the bone. The sauce it was paired with completed it beautifully. Only downside is that it got really heavy fast so I didn't finish it. Overall, highly recommend for a cute date night!

My cousin celebrated her birthday here this past weekend and my family had a great dinner here! Our party of 9 took up most of the main dining room and every other table was taken up by the time of our 6:15pm reservation. I was able to park in the lot next to the restaurant, but it's definitely small so you might have to park in the neighborhoods nearby. The interior is very cozy and intimate and the ambiance is perfect for a date night or birthday celebration. It was a pre-fixe 3 course meal for $65 each person including a starter, entrée, and dessert. I got the escargot, filet mignon, and the crème brulee. We started with warm bread and butter, and the appetizer came out in a timely manner given how large our party was. The escargot was tender and swimming in herby and garlicky melted butter, which was perfect to dip the bread into. I wish there was slightly more salt in the sauce, since it was rich but was lacking a bit of flavor. I haven't had escargot for many years, so this was surprisingly better than I remembered it to be. The entrees came out in a couple rounds, but everyone got their food within 5 minutes. The filet mignon was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked to a medium rare. It came with a peppercorn sauce, potato gratin, broccolini, and an herbed butter on top. The potato gratin was okay, I wish the potatoes were sliced a little thinner and was a little more tender. The peppercorn sauce was tasty, but I don't think the filet mignon necessarily needed it. The broccolini was cooked with garlic and lemon, and was a nice light side to the heavier main and sauce. We brought a bottle of red wine for the table, and it was so good with the filet. For dessert, I had the crème brulee and the custard was smooth and had great vanilla flavor. The caramelized sugar on top was crisp and not too thick. I also tried the mango panna cotta which was very smooth and had a great mango sauce. Overall, it was a great meal here and I would definitely come back. I had enough leftovers for a second meal, so the pre-fixe menu was definitely worth the price. Great service, nice ambiance, and solid food!

I went to ChouChou back several years ago, had a mediocre experience. But a few years ago, they recently changed ownership, and also my husband and I have moved to the neighborhood, so we wanted to give it a go!I'm so happy we came here. The ambiance is so much more charming than it used to be. They've remodeled the place, so it's a lot brighter, warmer, and also larger - they expanded to have more dining space! Their menu is quite large. They have ala carte items, and also a 3 course menu, which they are open to swapping items, since there are some items on the ala carte, that aren't listed in the 3 course side. They are so accommodating! We each did the 3 course menu, and ordered:French onion soup PEI mussels French fries Filet mignon Cassoulet Lemon eclipse Crème brûlée We loved all of our dishes, especially the French onion soup, filet mignon, and cassoulet. Desserts were great too. Just overall simple food, executed pretty well, considering that it's a little neighborhood spot so close to us. I felt the price was decent considering the quality and experience. The corkage was only $25 too, fair! The service was really nice too. They were very friendly and accommodating, and let us choose the table we wanted since we had a stroller, and we had the cozy one with the window in the street. Parking lot could use some work - needs to be repaved. It's very, very bumpy, difficult pushing our stroller through it.Lovely experience, can't wait to return!

Still a great neighborhood gem for French food. The ambience is cozy and the food is much better than the low key setting would imply.

My wife and I love this place. The food and wine is good, the service is friendly and polite. The best part is the atmosphere, it's very cozy and clean looking. They have a few parking spots on the side, otherwise the parking can be a little tricky.

I finally got a chance to try ChouChou and it was a special occasion for me as my boyfriend made a reservation to celebrate my birthday. They have a parking lot but I would recommend parking on the streets or taking public transportation as the parking lot can easily get packed. The restaurant itself is pretty small and it can feel kinda crowded. I was quite surprised how packed the place got on a Tuesday. I would have to say, for the number of workers, the service did feel somewhat slow. We had ordered the 65$ fixed menu that comes with a starter, main and dessert. You get to choose what you want from the menu, which they have plenty to choose from. I had ordered the crab salad, the Alaskan salmon and the molten chocolate cake. Additionally, the restaurant provided me a crème brûlée for my birthday celebration. I think for the price, it's a nice place to have a budget friendly course meal.

This unassuming little French restaurant in Forrest Hill is full of surprises. I didn't expect to enjoy my meal so much. Starters like the mussels fragrant with the shallots, fennel and white wine was delish. The beet and arugula salad with strawberry vinaigrette is a favorite as well. The mushroom ravioli appetizer with truffle cream is amazing. The entrees are always consistently delicious. The beef Bourguignon was tender and a comforting meal. The filet mignon with pepper corn sauce, potato gratin is something I get not only at the restaurant but for delivery. Desserts like mango panna cotta, creme brûlée and apple tart are great palate cleansers. I love this place. It's a casual French spot with an elegant and 5 star feel! All the French comfort food that never disappoints. A neighborhood gem that has secured its spot as a delicious and reliable spot!

Really bad Valentine's Day experience: bad service, bad prices, and bad steak.I ordered the steak entree, which says "filet mignon". It did not look like or taste like filet mignon - it was so tough I had to cut it into pieces small enough to swallow because it did not break down with chewing, ended up leaving half. The steak knife struggled to cut through it. Made me really mad that they were dishonest about the cut of meat, and that they served me something inedible. Service was very slow, we got our mains over an hour after we sat down. Super slow on the basics like taking orders, pouring water, bringing wine. To increase the set price by $20 per person while offering nothing outside of the regular experience, bumping wine prices to $20 a glass, with no extra staff, no decor or ambiance for Valentines, nothing to justify a price increase... I couldn't believe it, photos of the menu with prices attached.

Was a terrible experience, it was my mother's 94th birthday , so 8 of us took her to dinner. When we got there for a early dinner we were the frist people there, the place was freezing so we requested them to turn up. It never got warmer. The tables had white table cloths but they covered them with tear off white paper (so tacky) The service people actted like they didnt care , so was hard to get ever water. After ordering the food came out at different times which i could understand if the food was great , well it was bland and only passable. We asked serval times for more bread ( there were 3 small baskets ) we finally got one leaving the other 2 empty. The biggest insult was that there was a 18 percent tip added into the bill for so so food and a terrible dining experience. Needless to say we will not be going back to this restaurant.
