Mango Salmon Roll (4/5)salmon was fresh and the mango was sweet and complimented the roll so well.Fancy Oysters (5/5) topped with quail egg, ikura, ponzu and green onion. i really enjoyed these as well and even put some of the Ankimo on top overall, great experience for our first time. "This was my first time trying Eritrean food and it was so absolutely stunning!! I started with the Asmara lager, easy to drink and smooth. I crushed two meat sambusas - the sauce is a little spicy but I couldn't get enough. The veggie platter for 1 comes with a soft injera, tumtumo (crushed lentils seasoned well), hamli (seasoned collard greens), alicha (seasoned potatoes with other veggies), alich-ater (yellow split peas with other veggies). It was a pleasant surprise to eat with my hands, scooping bites of the veggie platter using the injera. It's similar to how I eat Indian food at home! It was so delicious, seasoned well, and exceeded expectations. The service at the bar was amazing- very prompt and warm energy. The space is loud, crowded with lots of folks sharing plates. It's lit with warm yellow-orange lighting. I am def brining friends and family back!"

However, it's a very solid option for food (especially Vietnamese spring/summer rolls) if you're hungry and happen to find yourself in this part of the city."

She's a super picky Japanese cook, so I trusted her suggestion to come here with my boyfriend. There was not a thing we did not love. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated right away, which was a great start. However, things took a turn when our server handed us the regular menu without mentioning the SF Restaurant Week menu.When I asked about it, the staff member I spoke to claimed they weren't notified that they were participating. How is that possible when the restaurant was listed on the official website and we booked our reservation through it? SF Restaurant Week is a well known event, and participating restaurants usually share their menus online. I even checked Yelp and found only one photo related, which made me suspect they were trying to avoid offering the prix-fixe menu to maximize profits. Their excuse? "They weren't notified in time to create a menu." That's frustrating and misleading, especially since the event details had been public for two weeks+ meaning they should have been aware well in advance. If they weren't prepared, they shouldn't have signed up.That aside, we decided to stay and order from the regular menu. Unfortunately, our food took a long time to arrive. We ended up filling up on bread and soup while waiting. To make things worse, two other tables - a small party and a larger group that arrived after us, received most of their food before we received one dish.Food Review: * Mixed Crudo - The halibut was the best part- succulent, slightly sweet, and of course, there were only four pieces. The scallops, on the other hand, were overpowered by coarse salt, making them way too salty. The salmon was pretty standard.* Dungeness Crab Linguine - Decent, but not memorable. There wasn't much crab or sauce, so I probably wouldn't order it again.* Crab Chowder - Delicious, but the portion was misleading. The bowl was super shallow, making it look like there was more than there actually was--probably the same amount as a cup.* Branzino - Fantastic! The skin was perfectly crispy, and the side of broccolini was a great touch."

The restaurant was also decorated so beautifully too. We got bánh khọt, nem nướng on sugar cane, and fish sauce chicken for starters. All were sooo delicious! We also got their phở and five spice chicken dry phở. Their coconut coffee was pretty good too! I'd recommend going here to anyone! Excellent experience!"

"We came to back to JJamPPong because we had a bad jajang mein (black bean sauce noodles) at another restaurant in Millbrae a couple of weeks ago. We were talking about coming back the entire week to get jajang mein and their famous Korean double fried chicken. That feeling of satisfaction from a good meal is priceless. Redemption from a bad meal to a great one is twice as good. As a revenge meal, we ordered two orders of fried chicken $20 each, crispy garlic shrimp $24, chow fun $20 and of course, jajang mein $16. The food remains excellent. For the Korean fried chicken, get ready for some sticky fingers goodness. I really like the crunchiness as well as the authentic flavors. Their chef(s) concocted this sweet yet mild spicy glaze for the honey chili chicken which is addicting. We never had their salt and pepper fried chicken before and this was quite good. My favorite remains their garlic sauce version.The surprise standout dish was their beef chow fun. I've must have eaten this dish over a thousand times. Their chef(s)' interpretation added more depth by including chopped onions, scallions, bok choy, choy sum along with bean sprouts. The dish had a good smokey, wok hei flavor with the end tips of the beef, chow fun and onion caramelized. Chow fun could be boring but the chef did a good job with the light seasoning that rivals the best out there.Service was excellent. Constant water refills, extra napkins because the chicken. Side note, the owner's wife recognized me from my crispy noodles photo that I posted on Yelp when they first opened and gave me and my family an oyster sauce clams dish. That was an unexpected revelation. We were already so full. It is nice to be treated like a VIP even though I'm just a regular guy that likes to eat. It is a testament to them being a small local restaurant that recognizes their customers. This genuinely made my week a little bit better. Walking home with a stuffed stomach beyond capacity is delightful. Great job everyone at JJamPPong."

We ran in as the rain started to pour on a winter morning, and Fog City had everything that a solid diner could imagine to have. Wonderful seating variety with great views, immediate seating, incredibly friendly staff with recommendations galore, nice restrooms, and cocktails served at the prime time of 11 am. You will see a myriad of San Franciscans enjoying their time at the diner, from men reading newspapers with their morning coffee, to a date for two old lovers, to even massive family gathering that take up 3+ tabletops. All are going on at the same time, but sound is nicely distributed around the dining area that you see the liveliness and don't hear the chaos (and can hear your own party)! The entire journey at Fog City honestly felt like being in a sitcom episode. We settled on having a lightly boozy brunch with a few selected drinks and a simple cheese wood fired pizza. After we ordered, the hostess brought us a glass bottle of water and cups without request which felt very homey. I cannot stress the attention to the dining experience this establishment had for a streetside diner with the wood platter that accompanies the pizza, presentation of drinks and food, and the obvious care that was put into the preparation of each component. The pizza is actually so so good. The cheese had a perfect melt, the tomato didn't overpower, the basil was just the perfect garnish. Then, the drinks were strong but still kept to their described flavors."

The service at Pearl is excellent, extraordinarily focused on timing and friendly and knowledgeable repartee. They perfectly timed our courses and brought a glass of Barbera seconds before my bavette steak arrived.The mains were the star of the show (and the dessert!) but the appetizers need work: The roast cauliflower on black tahini hummus with green chermoula ($16) lacked a tempting presentation and became worse when I portioned to our plates in a confused, sticky mess. Black hummus doesn't work as an attractive base and throwing a giant handful of blanched almonds on top seemed a desperate move by the kitchen. The tuna tataki was delicious with an interplay of sweet and spicy: Bits of persimmon and fine slices of Serrano peppers played off each other with the fine lemony note of cilantro but a bit dear at $18 for (6) very thin slices of crudo.The Hankerchief white bolognese had a wonderful flavor. I think I sounded so certain about ordering they didn't describe what ground meat was in the pasta. It had to be chicken- and the dish had panache ($26).Even better was the perfectly executed Bavette of steak in thick, rare slices with a spicy, flavorful green harissa sauce reminiscent of zhoug, an Arabic sauce made from cilantro, jalapeño and cumin. The plate was perfectly balanced by tahini and tender small potatoes with pickled onion and fresh dill ($32). I wished for another slice of steak mostly because it was so delicious.Our server recommended the Meyer lemon pudding cake over the cardamom semifreddo (both $13). Dressed with huckleberry sauce, whipped cream and candied ginger, the cake was delicious, loved the uniqueness of the huckleberries. The menu is small and creative. I would return to try new, seasonal plates. Service is any restaurateur's dream team!"
