Gerald R. "BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONSeveral years ago I ate at La Marcha Tapas Bar at Berkeley. I really enjoyed my time at La Marcha while eating Spanish cuisine. Last year my cousin used this catering vendor for his wife's birthday. I was excited to find out that this catering vendor is owned by the same group that owns La Marcha. Some of items served that January night of last year were ham croquette, chicken empanada, potato ball, Brussels sprout, and Moroccan chicken. I was interested in the two kinds of paella: paella mixta and paella tres cerditos. My only time at La Marcha I had paella but not those two paella dishes. At my cousin's backyard there were two paella pans. The smell of the paella excited me with anticipation. The birthday dinner was ready when both the paella dishes were cooked. I noticed the paellas were the only dishes cooked on site; the rest of the items were pre-cooked. Granted I understand cooking everything on site is an impossible task as the main feature is the paella. The two non-paella dishes I like were the Brussels sprout and Moroccan chicken. The two paella dishes were flavorful. When it comes to catering the concern is throughout the night the food might get cold if it is not served in chafer dish. That was the case with food served that night as there was no chafer dishes to keep the food warm.Even though I enjoyed the food from Nora Spanish Cuisine - Paella & Tapas Catering I prefer hot, fresh dishes from La Marcha Tapas Bar."

Elena N. "(Posting a review from 10/04/2015 since it actually belongs here.)We have a catered lunch every Friday at work. This past Friday, October 2nd, our company got lunch from La Mediterranee. It arrived around 12:30pm. I talked to the person who coordinated it and she said she used ZeroCater to place our lunch order.Everything below was served family style:*Chicken Pomegranate*Hummos*Spinach and Feta Filo*Falafel*Green Salad*Rice Pilaf*Pita*DolmaI loved the chicken, hummus and salad. The chicken was super tender. The hummus was smooth and great as a sauce on everything. Really good flavor. And I'm a girl who loves greens, so I had two helpings of salad. The falafel, pita and dolma were pretty good, but those weren't very warm when they arrived, so I had a texture issue with them as they were a little hard. I liked the spinach and feta filo, but I don't like whole chickpeas, so I found myself picking them out. (Yes, I love hummus, but I don't like whole chickpeas. Weird, I know, but it's a taste and texture thing.) I didn't try the rice pilaf, so I can't comment on that dish.My coworker said this is one of her favorite Mediterranean places and I can see why. I just wish the hot food had arrived hot. Or at least warmer than it did. Cold falafels and mushy dolmas took away from my meal a bit. Next time, I wanna go in and try their lamb lule. It sounds like the dish to get! Hopefully the falafels will be fresh and hot!"

Jerusha M. "We came here to try the Salmon Curry, vegetarian Momos, and the Palak Paneer. The Naan and Rice is complimentary with every dish! The Momos: I see why everyone raves about them. They have layers of spices in each bite, and the curry sauce they come with has a little kick. They are so delicious. The spice does not overwhelm all the other flavors in the Momo. Salmon Curry: Oh I loved this dish. You can really taste the salmon amidst the curry spices, and the texture was *chef's kiss! There was enough that two people had a bit of leftovers too. Palak Paneer: I've read hit of miss reviews about this dish. Some people said it was too thin/liquid of a sauce. I've had Palak Paneer at numerous places and every single place does it a little differently. It's true that Palak Paneer at Cuisine of Nepal had a thinner curry but it's still delicious. The cheese cubes are quite large and flavorful. The sauce was mild in spice. For desert we ordered Lal Mohan, yum!! A very sweet taste with a pudding-like texture. Reminded me very much of a doughnut hole but soaked in honey. In this case it was saffron. The ambience: Cuisine of Nepal feels very European in terms of its inner layout. My wife and I sat at a two person table in a long row of two person tables down a narrow hall. We got there for an early dinner (around 5:30) and the place had only two other guests. By the time 6:30 rolled around I felt like I was at an intimate dinner party with long rows of people facing each other. It became very busy so I'd suggest coming earlier to get a seat."

Tiffany D. "From the past pictures of this taco truck, I didn't get any turnips nor jalepenos. Maybe they stopped it or ran out. It would have been nice to have experience the full package if that is what it is usually. Regardless, their tacos are still packed with flavor and sauce. A bit on the dry side, but that's why they give at least lime wedges to help with the dry side. Their beef cheek is superbly tender! Chorizo was nicely spiced up as well as their pastor. I wish they added the pineapple and made it al pastor instead. It would have made it one upped on that taco! They ran out of fish, which is what I wanted as a seafood taco so I just ordered up two pastors. I should have gotten like carne asada beef, but desired pastor a lot more at the time of ordering and substituting the fish instead. They have rice entrees and burrito wraps. My eyes are always on tacos when it comes to taco trucks! Their drinks are mostly bottled. I wished that they served up more fresh drinks, such as horchata or iced tea. I didn't want any of the bottled sugared drinks. I delved right into the tacos and it surely satisfied the cravings of tacos!"

Cherylynn N. "COVID-19 DELIVERY UPDATE I rarely do updates but Chef Mai SAVED the day today!  For my stepmom's birthday, I ordered a gorgeous cake from a amazingly talented pastry chef to be delivered to her.  Unfortunately, my order couldn't be fulfilled last minute due to a family tragedy (my heart goes out to the chef's family).  As a Virgo who always plans way ahead and writes a to-do list everyday, I was frantic. It was 8 PM last night....the night before her birthday.I decided to text Chef Mai to see if there was any chance she had time to make and deliver a Family Meal to my stepmom for lunch the next day. She texted me back immediately and said, "no problem". She even asked about my dad's dietary restrictions which I told her to don't worry about. With my last minute order, I didn't want to be difficult. It's my stepmom's birthday after all so my dad can just watch her eat. Lol! Chef Mai had the Family Meal delivered to their home HOT before the 11 AM delivery timeframe. My dad facetimed me while they opened up the family meal and their eyes WIDENED with the spread (this is the picture they sent me): https://bit.ly/2Lk3y1v.The Family Meal B for four included:  Housemade Cha Ca (fish cakes), Housemade Chả Trứng Hấp (meatloaf), Chả Giò (fried egg rolls), Bò Lá Lốt (grilled beef wrapped in betel leaf), Bánh Bôt Loc (shrimp & pork tapioca dumplings), Tiger Prawns, Lemongrass Beef, Bánh Hỏi (woven rice noodles), and myriad of fresh veggies and herbs to make wraps. This entire spread was only $65 including tax and delivery! She even threw in an order of Bánh Nậm (Vietnamese "tamales" filled w/ pork & shrimp) on the house for her birthday.  Since COVID, both my stepmom and dad have barely left the house (only for walks). They haven't had Vietnamese food since February so it was real treat for them...especially since some of the Hue specialties can't be found in SF. Chef Mai doesn't get the recognition and exposure that she deserves. Her catering business is super under the radar (no IG, no website) and is based on word of mouth. During COVID, she pivoted to food delivery because of cancelled weddings and large events. I found her on a FB COVID Food Group. She posts weekly menus on her FB page: https://m.facebook.com/maisplacecatering/.She offers an array of Vietnamese homestyle dishes. She even has Com Tấm, broken rice plates; this is the only place in SF that has it. I've seen people post asking for a very specific Vietnamese regional dish and she makes it happen. All her prices include delivery and she now delivers all over the Bay Area - 3 entree minimum for SF - Burlingame deliveries and 4 entree minimum for deliveries to Oakland, Hayward, Peninsula, and all the way to Man Jose.Text or email your order to her. Payment via Venmo.Chef Mai's Vietnamese food is legit as you can get in SF without having to go all the way to E Man Jose. With the lockdown back in full force again, it's the perfect opportunity to order some of Chef Mai's delicious Vietnamese dishes delivered right to the comfort of your couch."

El Tacazo De Cleo

Gerald R. "NEPHEW'S HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION PARTYI've gone to family parties that paid a taco truck to cater. There is something unique about El Tacazo De Cleo. My cousin used this catering service for her son's high school graduation party in Danville last Sunday. I thought it would be another taco truck. Some taco caterers have meat that tends to be dry. Not the meat served from El Tacazo De Cleo with its beef, pork, and chicken. Every one of the meat items were flavorful and moist. Most taco caterers use a comal metal griddle, but El Tacazo De Cleo uses a cart iron griddle that gives a distinct sear on the tortilla. The tortilla wasn't stale but soft. The horchata wasn't watered-down. What makes the El Tacazo De Cleo different from all the taco caterers is one item - quesabirria. When I spotted the quesabirrias I knew I had to eat as much as I could. At Mexican taquerias if quesabirria is served you tend to get three in an order. This carterer provided endless numbers of quesabirrias. I liked how the cooked as me if I wanted the quesabirria crispy. I replied yes. The sound of quesabirrias sizzle on the griddle entices you to eat more quesabirrias. These quesabirrias from El Tacazo De Cleo aren't heavy. Overall I ate five beef tacos, two chicken tacos, two pork tacos, one quesadilla, and five quesabirrias from El Tacazo De Cleo . I would have eaten more quesabirrias if I didn't eat other items served at the party. I wish there was a consommé with the quesabirria. My rating for El Tacazo De Cleo is based on that quesabirrias were served from a taco caterer that you don't see from other taco caterers."

It's a complicated venue- every part of the wedding (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception) was in a different area and required a different set-up. Not to mention the fact that, since we were expecting some rain, we had to switch up the floor plan at the very last minute. Le's Kitchen rolled with the punches and never once did they push back on all the last-minute tweaks. Their positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile really meant a lot to us during this hectic time.We knew we wanted to do asian food for our wedding, but at the same time, we wanted something classy and elevated to fit our venue. Surprisingly, there aren't that many options in the Bay Area, so we're so grateful for Le's Kitchen for being the caterer of our dreams! Now on to the food-For hors d'oeuvres, we chose the: House Special Golden Rolls (my fave), Hawaiian Poke on Shrimp Chips (another fave), Petite Chicken "Banh Mi," andLemongrass Beef Patties Wrapped in Pepper Leaves For dinner, we went with the Classic 6-Course Banquet Menu, served family style. This included: Soft-shell Tempura Crab Salad, Peking Roast Chicken, Chinese Vegetables with Japanese Mushroom, Wok-fried Filet Mignon, Honey Glazed Soy Seabass (HUGE hit), Wok-fried Garlic Noodles. For a late-night snack, we got popcorn chicken which was passed around in easy-to-eat snack-sized bags. We're still getting comments from guests saying this was the best food they've had at a wedding period. Even our hard-to-impress Chinese family members were impressed with the food! The menu is truly a perfect blend of traditional asian cooking but with a modern, elevated twist. We 100% trust in the Le's Kitchen team and can't recommend them enough. We appreciate y'all!"

Aside from his commanding leadership that his employees respected, he is someone who has amazing critical thinking skills and helps solve situations for you, and will do the work to solve it.I was at this particular location because they carry unique flavors of Mitchell's Ice Cream (Langka, Halo-Halo, Use Macapuno). The only thing is, I was staying an hour away from this location (Half Moon Bay/Pescadero area) and it was 95F degrees out. Fortunately, they had inexpensive coolers and dry ice which he recommended. Since handling dry ice can have potential minor risks, he handled the packaging of the dry ice into the cooler and packed my ice cream in it for me. He even bagged the rest of my items. I got home and everything was intact and my buckets of ice cream all still frozen. In summary, exceptional managers like Phil make a huge difference in customer satisfaction. Any chicken, BBQ, oven roasted, teriyaki, lemon caper, all great. Love their grilled salmon and cilantro rice, and their veggies are always good - not soggy and overcooked. HUGE, beautiful salads!Another reviewer said something about it being greasy, and I'm wondering what they had. I order from Peninsula a couple of times a month, it's never been greasy OR over salted, but I do try to stick with healthy options. I've never had their stuffed meats - the mozzarella stuffed chicken sounds like it's pretty rich. They use organic meat, poultry, fruits and vegetables and are very conscientious about serving fresh dishes. And be sure to order a platter of assorted brownies or cookies, they are outstanding!Keep their number handy because if you're ever in a pinch, they're one of the only caterers in town that can get you great food in a moments notice. So this was the perfect opportunity to try their menu. As you can tell from the name, they do chicken. And they do it well! The baked chicken leg was moist and had so much flavor from the ancho-chili mustard rub. And I loved the slaw! Normally I don't eat coleslaw because it's usually drenched in dressing, but not this one. It was perfectly dressed and had a good crunch. The rice was good too! It had some earthy flavors to it. My meal also came with sweet potato croquettes with a sriracha aioli, and a brown butter chocolate chip cookie. The croquettes were perfectly fried, and I loved the sweetness of the potato with the slightly spicy sriracha. And the chocolate chip cookie had chocolate at every bite! I came back the next day to get their vegan chickpea corn cakes. Delicious!! I did travel an hour with them, so they lost a little of the crunch. But nonetheless still good. It's not on their main menu (yet?) so if you're vegan, hurry up and get some now before their Restaurant Week menu ends on April 10. The cakes also came with garlic cauliflower roasted perfectly and kale. And the people who work there are super nice and friendly! I noticed they've been getting a lot of online orders, so that's a testament to how good their food is. They do have indoor dining with a few tables just inside. The place is super clean and lots of vertical space. They do have signs asking for vaccination status if you're dining in, fyi, so get that prepared. Who wouldn't want an extra plate of delicious BBQ? BBQ meats and poultry were accompanied by classic sides like mac & cheese, baked beans, and cornbread. Elaine Y. "Korean Bobcha was so good that I literally had it twice in the last week! Both times I opted for the Bobcha Burrito which, on these trips, featured a slight twist from the norm. Instead of bacon fried rice, it featured tator tots and my goodness, is that an upgrade or what?!The first time, I split a bulgolgi beef version with a friend. The beef made the burrito a little sweeter than I would've preferred but luckily the kimchi helped to balance it out. The tots provided a delightful crunchiness and probably also helped cut the heft (compared to rice). I wasn't a huge fan of the spring greens in the middle (mostly cause it's not very Korean nor does it belong in a burrito) but it was there for health. The second time, I went with spicy pork and let me tell you, that's the move. It was so good! Again the spring greens left something to be desired (kimchi chives or daikon would be more fun and authentic imo) but everything else played together very well! Both times left me in a bit of a food coma, but both times were worth it!"

My partner and I dropped by 30 minutes before closing on a Saturday and the line wasn't too long, but there were still a good amount of people. They don't allow for samples, but their sign as for reasons why is so hilarious that I'm not even mad about it. We ended up getting the Banana Rocky Road and Lavender Earl Gray and both were AMAZING. It's dangerous how close I live to this place because now I want to go back every day to eventually try the whole menu!"

Debbie M. "I'd been to at least 5 weddings and parties catered by Ulisess and was always impressed. When it was my parent's 60th wedding anniversary using Ulisess was the obvious choice. We opted for their Mexican menu (although I only had experienced the Italian menu before). The Mexican was amazing, best guacamole I've ever had! Tito and staff worked together like a dream, professional, all this food appearing from the kitchen of the venue without a hitch."

Monica M. "In a panic after finding out that our go-to restaurant was closed for Thanksgiving (and having to cater food for our family who were coming over), I searched Yelp for catering companies. Although I didn't go with Nutrigastro's services, coordinating an order was such a pleasant and straightforward experience, I am considering Nutrigastro for future gatherings necessitating food for a large group. The customer service was hands down amazing. The staff I corresponded with were extremely friendly and accommodating. I can't say better things about them!"

Jacqueline F. "I was at a party some years ago and a British friend brought a box of these. Having grown up reading about them in a children's book, I was intrigued. They didn't disappoint. So the hubs and I made a trek down here. It's a nice looking store with lots of middle eastern goods. And we got a huge box and ate them over the next week or so. I brought some to a family Xmas party and my sister who thought they were a mistake couldn't stay away from them. They were that good. They have other food stuffs but they didn't look so appealing to me, so I haven't eaten their hot food. This is our go59 spot for an ingredient we use for some recipes, un named because we don't want the competition. And the people who work there are very, very nice. And the service is good. So when at La Marcha next door or sometimes - just because, we stop by for some delectable treats."
