It was my 1st time dining here.My office used to be about five blocks away and I remember picking up food with my coworker to bring back. My uncle who works in the neighborhood mentioned that this was a regular lunch spot for him pre-2020.I came here for lunch on a Wednesday in April a little before noon. Dining alone, I chose a counter seat as my waitress offered me the menu and a glass of water. The dining room was 2/3rd full with varying party sizes in the center area. The menu is more extensive than I remember with breakfast items, full meals, and daily specials. At my waitress ' advice and her reminder that it's a half pound burger, I chose to pass on getting a side of fries. In sitting at my counter seat, I found it humorously ironic in looking at my surroundings. "On a little getaway trip with our pup we decided to dine at The Barn as they offer all outdoor seating by their restaurant and have an additional "garden patio" area with additional seating.You first walk inside to order and then take your buzzer to the tables and seat yourself. They have blankets to cover the benches in case it's cold and outdoor heaters that can be turned on. We ordered the Barn Burger (classic beef burger), the What the Cluck (fried chicken sandwich - can also be served grilled if you prefer), a side of fries, and the Mac Attack (fried macaroni).The Barn Burger is your classic burger - which was thought was pretty standard. Ingredients tasted fresh and the bun kept everything together. The only downside was that the beef patty was quite small and not to the shape of the bun. At the end we found ourselves with bun + toppings, but no more beef.The What the Cluck is served on ciabatta bread and the arugula is a nice touch. Chicken was fried well and was tender inside. The portion is sizeable as well. However, if you're not a goat cheese fan, you may want to sub out the cheese as it was quite strong and overpowered the sandwich quite a bit.The Mac Attack is a nice side addition. Fried perfectly to a crunchy crisp and velvety cheesy goodness on the inside. It's served with ranch and four pieces is plenty for two people!We were surprised by the portion of a side of fries. You can definitely share between two people as they give plenty.Self serve water outside and you bus your own table when you're done!Overall, love the outdoor dining area and that it is dog friendly. Would return with our pup when in Half Moon Bay!"

"This is clearly the best burger joint in the neighborhood and just as clearly my favorite in the city. I love everything about it, but here are some highlights. First and most obvious, the burgers are on-point, flame-broiled on an ingenious swiveling cast-iron grill apparatus, served just a bit on the rare side of medium (love it - so juicy and flavorful), and the condiments/fixins are both free and self-applied. I love this last bit because I hate condiments and mayonnaise above all else, and I am guaranteed not to have this on my burger. Second, their milkshakes are excellent. I'm not talking about fancy (if you want fancy, there's a lovely ice cream parlor across the street), but just of generally high quality. For example, the chocolate shake is exactly what it should be - creamy, good flavor, good texture. And, really, that's the bottom-line of this place: basic stuff done exceptionally well. Third, these folks are fast. If I order on the phone, I barely have time to savor a wee dram of whisky before I need to head over to pick up my food. If there is a downside, it is the fries. They are just okay. But allow me to argue that this is not actually a downside. You don't need the fries. If you think that one of these robust, juicy burgers won't be enough to sate your (perhaps whisky-enhanced) appetite, order another patty on your burger. You'll love it all the more."

The size of the sandwich was intimidating but I put my work in and demolished it, savoring every delicious bite. Don't get me started on their signature sun-dried tomato tapenade, chef's kiss. I ordered the humdinger, which has a generous helping of mushrooms on top. My boyfriend and I were craving the same burger so the only difference was his was medium and mine was medium rare. Both were so juicy. As soon as we bit in, our hands were splashed.The house salad was yummy with a light and balanced dressing that is neither too sweet nor too acidic. Quite large for the price!The service and ambiance are what you expect from a casual burger spot. They're quick and kind; the chairs and cups are plastic. But if you're just looking for a quick, casual burger while watching some sports, this is the spot."

They serve up burgers, a variety of fries, and some other sandwiches. We've come to enjoy a beer and fries on their outdoor picnic tables, and also for burgers. While burgers are their namesake, they aren't messing around on the fries either. I've had both the regular and curry fries and have loved how crispy each of them are, they also don't skimp on the serving. Burgers are big and juicy and come loaded with all the toppings you'd want. I've had the mushroom deluxe and papa burger, both were really good and I'd order either one again. Prices have gone up since the start of the year, we came in January and burgers were all about $3 more when we came back in June, but the prices aren't absurd for what you get. The burgers are rather large and filling, plus with the cost of food going up it makes sense."

The flavor profile compliments the pastrami so well, I will always order it over any other food item on the menu. (My family lived off of mouth-watering pastrami sandwiches from NYC delis in the 80s, and this is honestly the closest and the best of what we can get in the Bay! The Pastrami sando on its own somehow doesn't do it for me.) I'm picky about my fries so I skip the fried items here. Besides, I enjoy every morsel of the Reuben I can't think about or fit anything else!I got the Half Soup/Half Reuben and the Coleslaw to share, which I love. The Hibiscus Punch was refreshing and not too sweet ;) I devoured them and was happily full to the brim. Service was courteous and prompt. This Hillsdale location is spacious, gets great natural light, has a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. Convenient to access from the parking structure nearby. There are booths and tables that accommodate smaller and larger parties. I'd definitely come again when I'm in the area."
