Valerie T. "Alnico's ube hotcakes were definitely what attracted my interest! I came here about 2 years ago on a weekend with a reservation and there was still a wait, that's how popular this place was. The ube hotcakes were delicious and came in big portions. I do wish the hotcakes had more ube flavor - it was a bit too subtle. Still, the pancakes were fluffy and very filling. My friend also got the ube Vietnamese iced coffee, which tasted more coffee than ube - the ube flavor was barely there."

Derrick S. "I had the pleasure of dining at 707 Sutter, a cozy Korean restaurant, around 6 pm. At that time, it wasn't too busy, but as we settled in, more customers started to arrive--a clear sign that we were in for a great meal.Food:I ordered teriyaki chicken with white rice, and we started with a plate of shrimp. The food came out hot and well-seasoned, with generous portions that were perfect for sharing. Every bite was delicious! We ended up passing dishes around the table and still left with a few to-go boxes. Those dishes included Spicy chicken, chicken wings, fried rice with vegetables and beef dumplings. The flavors were rich, and the BBQ chicken had that perfect smoky sweetness. A special mention for the shrimp appetizer--crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. It really set the tone for the meal!Service:The service was top-notch. Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing, making sure our glasses were always full and checking in just the right amount. It's always nice when you feel well taken care of but not rushed.Ambience & Cleanliness:The atmosphere was pleasant, with plenty of seating, which made it comfortable even as the restaurant got busier. The dining area was spotless, and the clean bathroom was a plus. It was easy to relax and enjoy the meal in such a well-maintained space.Extras:I also enjoyed a hot cup of saku, which warmed me up, and made sure to stay hydrated with water. The contactless payment was convenient, and I appreciated the modern touch.Overall, 707 Sutter exceeded my expectations in every way--great food, excellent service, and a clean, comfortable dining environment. Highly recommended if you're craving Korean BBQ or just a fantastic meal with friends or family!"

John G. "I've been wanting to try this place since they opened in downtown San Mateo and my first experience wasn't a pleasant one. Back in 2023, I had emailed them to reserve a table for 12 people for a celebration reunion with my classmates from the Philippines. Thought this restaurant it would be ideal (for obvious reasons), but nobody ever got back to me. Even calls to speak with the manager went nowhere. I had to reserve another venue, and I finally received a response from them after the planned reunion. In a nutshell, the excuse given was they were busy and will use it as a learning experience.Water under the bridge so moving on, I decided to take the Wifey here for dinner back in November of last year with the two dogs in tow. We didn't have reservations, so the only option was to dine on their parklet. We didn't mind the cold, as long as we had a nice heater to keep us warm. We ordered the following:Pork Sisig ($27 with egg +$2) Seasoned pork, chopped and sauteed with spices on a sizzling plate. Looking at the picture, let me state the obvious: the egg yolk was already broken, and it was already cooked. They didn't even allow us the experience of mixing the egg with the rest of the dish, and the taste was mid at best. The texture of the pork was also flossy as it wasn't the typical sisig that I'm used to. Crispy Pata ($39.50) They describe it as crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. All true, but at this price point, I wanted it to wow me. It was lacking in flavor, and it was cooked inconsistently with some chunks of meat being too hard. Nothing too special, and you can get a similar dish at other Filipino restaurants at half the price. Sinigang ($11) Veggies and broth only. This hits the spot as the sourness of the broth was just right and it warmed us on a cold, chilly night. Pinakbet ($23) Stir-fried string beans, eggplant, bittermelon, okra, squash, shrimp, pork, shrimp paste and topped with chicharrones. This was the best-tasting food among the dishes that we ordered. All the ingredients complemented each other as it was well-balanced. As far as service goes, it was also inconsistent as we were initially told that we could sit at a table near the door but then changed it to the parklet as that table was reserved. Our server also changed (understandable) that caused us to wait on a request that we had to repeat. All in all, there were hits and misses and a mix bag of everything else from my very first experience to the most recent one. I'm still giving them 3 stars, and that's being generous since I want them to improve, be more consistent and be better. Hopefully on our next visit."

Alyson W. "If I could gatekeep one spot, I would gatekeep this one. I've been coming to K-Elements since high school and the price and quality is unbeatable for an AYCE spot. Whenever we try another kbbq place, we always compare it to K-Elements as the standard. Unlimited meats at a very wide variety, individual cups of cheese corn, and very attentive staff always ready to help change out the grill. The dining room is huge and each table can accommodate parties of 2-6 at least and plays kpop music in the background, usually with a sports game on the big tvs. You order on your phone via the QR code placed on your table, and they bring out the meats and sides on little trays. Even back when I was in college K-Elements was the must-visit every time I came back to the city. Do yourself a favor and get the kalbi short ribs--they're the best. My only complaint? I wish the grills were bigger so I could eat it all faster :P"

This time, the burrito tasted just as I remembered but even better! I really appreciate that you have the option to remove egg (i am one of those people who sometimes gets a weird/unpleasant feeling from the taste/texture of eggs). True to social media pics (no catfishing here), the top of my Saucy Asian Bowl ($15.99 + $2 for bulgogi beef) was evenly coated in gochujang aioli. The bottom is layered with rice, mixed greens, & japchae noodles; I left my bowl unmixed which made each bite a flavor & textural surprise with additional crunchy elements coming from kimchi, slaw, & fried shallots. As the restaurant fuses Korean & Mexican flavors, I couldn't leave without ordering their tacos & burrito. My bf enjoyed the Spicy Pork Street Tacos ($14.49), so much so that he polished off all three in one sitting. The Cali Burrito ($14.99) was filled with Soy Sauce Chicken (thigh meat), fries, guac, cheese, cream, pico, & scallions, but the dominant flavor was their delicious garlic sauce.Generous portions, perfect for sharing. Well-made food for people who, like me, can't get enough of sauces & condiments. We had a lively conversation about food and San Francisco places.I ordered Yellowtail Carpaccio ($23) that was delicate yet deeply flavored with ginger miso aioli, chili oil and a nori chip. The meltingly tender pork chop over miso parsnip purée ($39) was punctuated with a grilled fresno pepper to balance the sweetness of the glaze but whose scoville rating I didn't fully appreciate until the first bite (that'll teach me!) I really appreciated the cooking method of the pork chop as it was medium yet the fat was perfectly rendered. The sister restaurant to Dumpling Home, this place is on Fillmore and located closer to our neighborhood so we visit here more frequently now. The dumplings are always sooo delicious, and I understand why there's often a line or wait to get a table. I came on a rainy Saturday around 2pm and once we arrived and joined the waitlist it was about a 20 minute wait for a table for 3. I wish they allowed joining the Yelp waitlist remotely so you could do it in your way to the restaurant and not have to wait as long once you arrive. We got Jasmine tea, then split some dumplings and other dishes. Their soup dumplings are absolutely the best menu item, we almost ordered another round of them at the end of our meal. I ordered takeout so I can really only speak on the food and drinks mainly. The menu is fairly large which is nice to have so many options. Most recently I ordered:- Strawberry Matcha ($6 + $0.75 for Oat Milk)- Kimchi Fried Rice ($12)- Bulgogi Beef Sandwich ($12)Their strawberry matcha is priced as how you'd expect for a matcha latte nowadays. It's pretty sweet even at 75%, but I enjoyed it and I can see why it's one of the more popular drinks here. The matcha taste isn't too strong and is a little more sugary, but I actually prefer that sometimes. You can really taste the strawberry flavor as well. I'd get it next time, but at a lower sweetness. The Kimchi fried rice was good! The egg was fried perfectly. It has that runny yolk that was perfect with the rice. It wasn't spicy, but you can taste the kimchi flavor. I'd recommend this. The Bulgogi beef sandwich was probably my favorite item. They give you a ton of Jalapeños is you add it on though and I ended up having to take some out and there were a lot of seeds in mine. Other than that, I thought the marinated ribeye they used was really good and flavorful. It was tender and not tough to chew unlike some other bulgogi Bánh mì that I have had. The Ollei is near Lord Stanley, just north of Broadway, on the edge of Russian Hill. They're across the street from a Bi-Rite Market. I wasn't expecting much but I found the place to be welcoming and the food familiar Korean comfort food. The difference is the simple modern vibe with K-Pop videos projected on one wall.Meals come with a quartet of simple quick banchan. The danmugi, aka takuan, is sweet pickled yellow strips of daikon radish. The oi muchim is a quick simple sweet and vinegary pickle of sliced cucumber rounds. The beachu kimchi is also slightly sweet. The eomuk, ribbons of Korean style fishcake, is painfully bland. They're only there as flavor changes of pace.I tried the beef dolsot bibimbap. It comes in one of those modern style bowls that will not properly put a charred crust on the rice, so don't get your hopes up. The bulgogi marinated beef is sweet and fulfills its role among the soy bean sprouts, horenso spinach, simmered daikon, julienned carrots, slice mushrooms. The biggest appeal to me was the availability of proper modern Korean soju made with rice - allowing me to skip the green bottle stuff. Good sool will always make a difference to me among Korean dining choices. Won Soju, a label produced by AOMG CEO Jay Park, was the best bottle I saw, and the price point was very good. This is Korean comfort food that will appeal to western tastes. Satisfying, filling, with not too much depth of heat or flavors."
