While visiting Denver for a conference, I had a chance to meet up with a friend who moved here from NYC and his partner. He's an excellent chef in his own right and a verified foodie, so I let him pick a place and he suggested Root Down and it was stellar.I immediately loved the vibe of the place when we walked in...bustling and fun but not shrill. The serving staff was very nice. Drinks were terrific and the food was superior. I had the fried chicken and goat cheese biscuit and could have easily eaten another serving it was so good. The fried chicken was heavenly and I loved the biscuit with the goat cheese. Everything was just spot on.My friends and I split a banana cream pie for dessert. It's not like the traditional pie you'd think of when you hear "banana cream pie" but it was delicious and we may or may not have fought over the last scrumptious bite!I really liked this place and would definitely return. If I lived in Denver, this would be in my regular rotation for sure.

We've been fans of Root Down for years, but after a few poor experiences I think we're finally ready to give it up. We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary with dessert here recently, but we were more than a little disappointed. We had the banana cream pie which was littered with salt, while the tangy passion fruit syrup just didn't pair well with the chocolate cake. It was all more about plating than taste or portion size. We added a few drinks and a kid's meal and the total came to almost $100! The service wasn't great, and the atmosphere was tacky. Sadly, it's just not worth it to come here anymore.

Happy hour heaven! This place rocks! Service was speedy, food was delicious and drinks were unique and amazing. Husband and I were visiting Denver to get out of the Phoenix heat in June and received this recommendation from a bartender at a local dive bar. Spot on! I started with the Beet Down cocktail, a brilliant magenta pink gin and aperol cocktail, using a beet shrub that occurs from making their own beet dishes. It was delicious in a completely unexpected way, the beets complimented the drink perfectly. I could consume many of these! The lamb slider was a large portion which my husband devoured quickly. Mediterranean influence on the menu is on full display with this slider including bacon and tzatziki sauce. He also ordered the Devils on Horseback, a skewered dish of Bacon and Cheese with Peppadew Peppers. Also a very unusual dish and totally delectable. We split a pakora which was a roasted vegetable and sweet potato fritter. Although tasty, not as special. The dip sauce was solid though, a cilantro chutney! It is humorous that our lovely female server was so quick and efficient that we finished happy hour and were done paying the bill in under one hour. She seemed a bit shocked we weren't staying for dinner, but had to catch the patio HH upstairs at Linger while in the area. She shouldn't be too upset, I think they are sister restaurants. And no worries, Root Down is a definite must-do in Denver, I will keep it on my list for future trips!I had the Columbian arepa which was Corn Cakes, Mozzarella, Smoked Gouda, topped with poblano cream & pico. This was gooey cheesy gluten free heaven. These appetizers were all $6 to $8 and a great value. I loved the Roasted Baby Beet Salad with Goat Cheese, Hazelnuts, and Arugula. Again, I could totally eat this every week! Perfect balance of dressing and ingredients. Nice variety.

After finding out my flight was delayed 3 hours, I needed a pick me up. This restaurant provided a needed respite. There was an open seat for me, my server was incredibly nice, and the food was delicious. I ordered a local cider from Colorado Cider called Cider Glider, and it was refreshing. I also kept guzzling down water, and my server probably refilled my cup 6 or 7 times. I ordered the goat cheese and beet salad and added honey salmon. It wasn't cheap, but it was beautiful and delicious and healthy, and just what I needed on a rough day.

I hadnt been here in 10 years and the quality is still the same! We sat with Gigi and she made our experience unforgettable. We had a few entrees and loved our drinks. The gnocchi was my favorite it was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the rockfish too but didnt love the texture of rice patty underneath...As always the ambiance was great and service upon entering was welcoming.

Food had so many complex flavors and interesting ingredients. Got the Sunday 3 course dinner and the scallop starter. For the 3 courses we chose the beet salad, rockfish in thai sauce and avocado key lime pie. Everything tasted fresh and healthy ingredients. Service was excellent.

Best brunch spot! Farm fresh ingredients that you can really taste. Sitting on the patio is great even in winter, they heat it!! They have bottomless mimosas (blood orange is the best) Our waitress, Janna, was a blast and so attentive!

Great atmosphere, fun decor, amazing service & most importantly, delicious food!Shared several delicious plates with a few friends at Root Down when visiting Denver - everything was delectable! The rockfish and the gnocchi were top tier. The banana crème pie dessert was to die for! No complaints about any of the food and everything was perfect for splitting. The cocktails on the menu are all so intriguing and fun - we tried the Beet, the Draper, and the Dazed & Confused... SO good! Our server was so sweet and attentive with great recommendations. Our food & drinks came out quickly. Overall a 5 star experience & if I lived in Denver I'd be coming back here all the time!

Came for a bachelorette party and had truly the BEST brunch. So well priced for such amazing food. We had a party with some pretty strict dietary requirements and custom orders. Our server Jason handled it SO well and had a great sense of humor about it too. People loved the breakfast burrito and the ability to add different sides. My celiac and dairy allergic friends loved the chicken sausage. My vegan buddy got a vegan breakfast burrito and loved it. I had the chicken and goat cheese biscuit and oh my GAWD so good! I really would have wanted to order everything on the menu if I could, even the salads. My friend got a salad with beets and beet and sunflower seed pesto and that pesto was so delicious. I'm not even a beet person. If you have a big crew for a weekend trip, Root Down is so fun, flexible and beautiful. It's close to a ton of great watering holes like Happy Camper as well. Highly recommend! They put us out on the patio which is really lovely and it was easy to accommodate a big party.
