A cute little restaurant. I love Roostar! I use to get their lemongrass tofu banh mi, but my friend recommended the special banh mi.. and man oh man, is it delicious! It comes with so much pate too.. mhmm yum! The sandwiches are a decent size.. and I was full after eating it. We ordered 2 banh mi's (one with an egg) and some eggrolls. I loved the eggrolls actually. Super crisy and flavorful with the dip. Service was quick. Place was clean and everyone was friendly. Parking was decent as well! Definitely check them out!

This is one of my go-to places for a quick takeout meal. I've been to multiple locations, and the foods have always been consistent. My recent order was from this location (Gessner), and it was a delivery order to eat at home.I always like ordering the rice boxes with 2 proteins. The boxes come with just 1 with options to add extras (meats, etc.) if you want as well as pickled carrots and other veggies. I ordered the Sous Vide Pork Belly Box with Crispy Tofu (Wholeshebang flavor) and also the Grilled Chicken Box with Chopped Ribeye. I chose fried rice and house fish sauce with the orders. All of the meats were flavorful, and the boxes were packed. They are on the pricier side though compared to other similar Viet food places, but the flavors, portion sizes, and speed definitely make it worth it.

Fast and furious .It's kind of like a fast food Viet spot. There are a few tables inside and outside. There were a lot of pick up orders as well.Tried: Grilled pork banh mi - it was standard, the meat is a mix of really soft and tender and then some burnt pieces, marinade was okChopped ribeye box - this was ok, tons of rice and meat, cha gio was a bit bland even with the sauce I also had the beef alphabet soup and coconut cream corn. The soup was flavorful, slightly salty but very tasty. The coconut cream corn was soooooo very good. Overall, it was a good experience. Will def go back.

Yes yes yes! So the bbq pork sandwich are very nostalgic for me and the place I went in my childhood is no longer open. This place filled the spot with ease. The food was delicious and I can't wait to go try more items. It's a fast food style place, but there's also tables and seating areas if you don't want to take the food to go. The staff was super helpful. I was interested in their curry and the cashier offered me a sample, which is uncommon at a lot of restaurants of similar caliber. This was a win for me

Food was bangin. So much flavor, so delicious. Iced matcha tea was a lot more sugar than I'm used to but I kept coming back for more and I got used to the first sip and it was addictive and delicious. Would come back again. Edit: I came back again. The first time I visited, the person taking my order kind of tried to push me to order more than I wanted to and I felt some type of way but this time around, everyone was so incredibly friendly and helpful. The interior is bright, fun, and very clean. I sat in the outdoor seating to enjoy the weather since I all the heat waves have mostly passed and the fresh air is heavenly. All in all a great experience!

I think this is the original Roostar formerly known as Vietnam Poblano. It was surprising to walk in on a Tuesday night and note banh mi shop without any Vietnamese workers. The kitchen is a lot larger than you would expect from a banh mi shop, and I didn't see anything specific on the menu that would require that many people so they must do a lot of volume during the day.Their prices are more expensive than the typical Bellaire or Midtown shop, but their sandwiches are larger and they fill them well. They have two kinds of tofu sandwiches, one that is lemon pepper while the other is garlic butter. You can also get both, and you should get both to get the best tofu banh mi in Houston.

OK, I consider myself to be a banh mi connoisseur of sorts, so I am very picky when it comes to banh mi, but also Vietnamese cuisine in general. I remember when Thien An was part of a Vietnamese supermarket, and also loved the banh mi from Les Givrals. So, each establishment I try these days really has to pass the test - the bar is high. When it comes to Roostar, I think the chopped ribeye banh mi was really good, but it's kind of pricey. Also, more and more places have stopped serving shredded daikon radish but should probably go back to that. I also think the amount of ribeye served was a bit skimpy. Other than that, the flavor was good and I did like the sandwich well enough to return.

I came to check out a vietnamese restaurant because I didn't know what to eat for lunch and I was starving. When i came in the place was kind of busy with several tables taken, people waiting to order or waiting to pick up a to-go order. I viewed the menu and basically wanted to order everything on the menu. I talked through the menu with the cashier, Dat who gave me details of items on the menu. I decided to order 1 order of egg rolls (2), 1 order of bread with pate and butter, a deluxe special sandwich with pork, and an order of curry fries. Everything was super delicious and I definitely over ordered simply because I was hungry but overall I would definitely come back with friends to get lunch here! The service was also very good. The staff are friendly and food comes out quickly. Definitely good for groups of 2-4 but not more than that becuase the space is fairly small

This location gets busy. We've been to their other locations but moved and found this one recently. The pork banh mi is delicious and full of flavor. They are consistent in their cook which is hard to say about a lot of places. It's a generous portion, but my favorite is their fries. The twisted shape makes for very crispy fries and it is cut like potato wedge thickness. If you love potatoes fry this is the one to try. Their prices are also really reasonable for the area, but of course it is higher than the prices in Chinatown banh mi spots. It can be a bit noisy, but makes for a good lunch spot.

Delicious! Satisfying! The Best! Tasty! Flavorful! Yummy! There are so many ways to describe the absolute satisfaction that you get after eating at Roostar. So many delicious things to pick from, you can't go wrong. Hands down, my favorite Banh-Mi Sandwich in all of Houston. With locations all over the city, this is the first and original spot. Its been amazing to see their well deserved growth. When you walk into this location, you will see nice decor, and tons of awards all framed up. In other words, Roostar has the receipts! They've been recognized for their food perfection on multiple occasions, and its evident the minute you take your first bite. My go-to is a Chicken Banh-Mi, I'll usually order it without jalapeños (since I'm a weakling when it comes to spice), but I'll pay extra to add some avocados and pate. Goodness, just the thought of all these ingredients together...makes my mouth water. Their egg rolls are fabulous, so I'll usually get an order, accompanied with lettuce and their amazing sauce. You wrap your cold and crunchy lettuce around a hot and crisp egg roll, and then dip it in the sweet sauce. Chef's kiss! Perfection at every bite. I love the various tea and soda options you have when ordering a fountain drink. On previous occasions, I've ordered some Vietnamese Coffee. However, on my last visit, I decided to spice things up and get a Thai Tea. The bread they use, the service, and quality of food are some of the things that have made Roostar so successful these past years. It is heaven at every bite. You just can't go wrong. I've been a fan for many years now, and while they have expanded to many locations that are much bigger than their OG spot. This one brings memories, I remember when this place used to be called 'Vietnamese Poblano'! Nowadays, this location has expanded a bit to include more seating, merchandise, nice art all around that shows the streets of Vietnam and cool motivational phrases, (not to mention framed awards and newspaper mentions, the receipts of greatness!)Great food thy name is Roostar!
