Did not care for the small size of restaurant and sound bouncing off everything, quit noisy. Limited menu and some of the food just looks weird not Southern just weird. Most of the food they say is home cooked looks like it's fresh out of the can or freezer, That's why it's not all that costly!

Food was excellent. Southern all the way. Couldn't ask for better unless my grandmother had made it herself.

This adorable off the beaten path restaurant has delicious home cooked food. I enjoyed the fried chicken which was awesome! Additional stars were the hush puppies and the coleslaw. I ordered two pints to take home it was that good.

I came here for lunch today. Its a nice sit down southern style restaurant that has the look and feel of being here awhile. They only take cash or local checks, no credit or debit cards. The staff is short in talking but courteous and friendly overall. The food also came out pretty timely from ordering. They have different menus every day that the post on their Facebook page, some sort meat accompanied by two sides. Two pieces of BBQ chicken with portions of string beans, apples and banana pudding would run you $8. I wish the portion was bigger and I hesitate to give it 5 stars as a result, but would give the place a solid 4.5.Facebook Page- www.facebook.com/Ritas-Place-362844990579551/

Second timers and it was just as charming. From the tiny paper menu to the 4 entrees with all the trimmings, this place is adorable. I ordered the fried chicken and they did North Carolina proud. Crispy, juicy and tender. Just perfect really. My hubby and I ate a true southern supper for under $20. AWESOME! Can't wait til our next trip thru Mt. Olive! And the service? Southern hospitality all the way. A gem!

We ate at Rita's today for the first time. We were passing through town and starving and not wanting to grab fast food. Found Rita's on Yelp and sat down to another great find. The menu was limited. Limited as written on a piece of paper the size of an index card. Today being Friday, it was also seafood heavy. My boyfriend is not a fan of seafood (and I'm not a fan of eating seafood this far inland), so we both chose the only non-seafood option...BBQ chicken. The chicken came with two sides, a drink, and a dessert (banana pudding). We both upgraded to white meat for an extra $.25, making each plate cost a whopping $8. We both choose cole slaw and fries for our sides from the standard southern side order selection menu. The food came out hot (except for the slaw, of course) and was great. The chicken was juicy and the sauce was not thick or overly sweet (not Buffalo style, but had a little kick to it nonetheless). The fries hot and crisp...not greasy at all. The slaw was great...not overly creamy but sweet and crisp. The waitress also brought out a basket of hot hushpuppies, a nice surprise. The decor is casual but clean. Think small town diner. The motif in the dining area we sat in was definitely chicken heavy (I counted 14 appearances of the barnyard fowl in the surrounding decor). The only reason I held back a star was because of the small menu. I'd like to go back on another day and see what they offer instead of all the seafood options. Who's kidding though...I'd probably get the chicken again...it was that good.
