I forgot to take pictures of the dessert. It was so so so good. It's like milk/cheese balls served in kind of milky sauce. It was comforting to cool down all the spiciness. It was not crowded during lunch."

The absolute kindest and most intentional people work here, they really make the entire experience elevate to another level. HUGE shoutout to Tommy- he is so warm and welcoming, also very fun and funny! He greets everyone with a smile and warmth, truly incredible. The inside is also very cute, spacious, and very clean. The menu is filled with incredible dishes, I found it hard to narrow what I wanted down cause everything looks so good. I found myself thinking of wanting to come here every week so I could have a little bit of everything. I'm also a huge fan of eggplant, Tommy recommended I get the lunch special (which usually range between $10-$13 per plate, huge portions and comes with rice- incredible deal). Worry not about the spice levels- you can choose! You MUST get their Thai tea! I'm a fan of it coming in a mason jar with a handle, looks very pretty (aesthetic, you can mix the cream into the tea- sadly my photo is too blurry to do it Justice). Super delicious! For dessert- you have to get the mango sticky rice. A top tier dessert, not too sweet, tastes really creamy and refreshing. Always a beautiful balance of flavors. Be sure to come here to check them out! 10/10 would recommend :)"

Served hot, fresh and quick. The toast, seriously, was the best I've had at any local breakfast place. No table service, order at counter, find a seat. One of the great things is that the restaurant still looks the same as it did then, like a comfy grandmother's kitchen. and The menu hasn't changed much, either. I mean, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", right? The service was pretty quick and our waiter was a very nice young man. The food was still tasty with good size portions as well. Clifford C. "I saw so many great reviews for this place, and hopefully I will re-try this once covid is over. i placed an order at the walk up window one afternoon when it wasn't overly busy. Based on the menu, I ordered a teriyaki chicken with extra veggies over 1/2 scoop of rice, with the sauces on the side.Nonetheless, the food was BATHING in the sauces, and was overly salty. I did appreciate the extra veggies in it, as they added a good amount of broccoli, however the amount of onions that were included (that i didn't see until i started digging through all of the sauce) was immense! Unfortunately for me, the experience was not very good, as there was way too many onions, bathing in sauce and was way too salty. It is definitely a good 'quick food' place, if you are into that. Prices were not that bad for the amount of food that you are getting, however, following directions from the customer was definitely not their forte."

I never knew this place was off of S. Miami Blvd until I was looking for a pho place one day on Yelp. It's a small restaurant with no fancy frills, but I always enjoy the food I get from Bowl of Pho. I've tried many different dishes, and I loved every single dish I had from here. My latest favorite is Vermicelli Noodle Bowl with pork. I love the combination of cold noodles and veggies with warm pork on them. The sauce that it comes with makes the noodles brighter! You order from your table, but you pay at the cash register. Most restaurant only keep one size straw but they have straws for children and I was so impressed by this. Loyal customers come back even though there's another Thai restaurant in town that serves sushi. It might not be super packed during lunch but you get serve quickly and greeted well. The food is delicious, fresh and well cooked. We ordered dumplings and fried cheese sticks for a starter. The dumplings's skin was crispy and filled. It paired well with the soy dipping sauce. The cheese sticks are gooey and very stretchy. As for the main dish, I got a pad see ewe with shrimp. I love how they make their sauce and the noodles are spot on. This is what I normally get.On my recent visit, I tried something new! I got pad Woon combination (beef, chicken and shrimp. It is served with rice. This dish reminds me of Filipino pancit. I liked it.The fish cake is nice but it has a kick. It comes with a fish peanut sauce which was delish. My daughter loved her shrimp on a blanket. This is certainly a place to come back to. They are located in a strip mall which provides great amount of parking for all to park in.From the looks of the outside of the restaurant, one may be hesitant to go further, however, once you enter through the doors, you are transformed into a much nicer looking restaurant with a FULL, top shelf lounge / bar area with televisions, high tables, booths and bar seating. On the other side is their restaurant location, where they provide plenty of seating, booths as well as tables. Their lunch specials that they offer are great priced! you can get 3 rolls, soup and salad for only $12.00!Typically I get the same 3 rolls - Tuna Roll, Salmon Roll and shrimp tempura roll. with miso soup and salad with ginger dressing.Recently, I took a 'to go' order on a Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised with a BOGO! (buy one, get one free) - which ever roll is lesser. The Kimchi Jigae was decent and the banchan side dishes were good. The side dish of mayo-based macaroni with raisins was reminiscent of church meals that someone's mom or grandma always made. Daniel B. "Pizzeria Toro served some of the best pizza we've had in the Triangle. This restaurant has been in business since October 2012 for a reason. That's all you need to know. If you want details, read on.This place is popular and doesn't take reservations. We showed up right around 6pm on a Saturday and it was packed. We were given an estimated wait time of 25 minutes. Our actual wait time was about 30 minutes. I generally don't like waiting at restaurants, but this wait wasn't that bad because we were able to sit at the bar, and the wait was worth it.The restaurant's main entrance faces E Chapel Hill St. There's also a side entrance and separate bar room around the corner on Morris St. That's where we sat and waited. We had the option to eat at the bar, but we decided to wait for a table in the dining room for the experience and ambiance. It appeared online orders were picked up from a counter in the bar room. So, if you're picking up takeout, enter via Morris St.Like many businesses in this part of downtown Durham, Pizzeria Toro doesn't have dedicated parking. There's plenty of street, surface lot, and deck parking nearby. We parked for free in "Lot 32" at 111 W Chapel Hill St. The City enforces metered parking Monday-Friday, 8am-7pm. At the time of writing this review, parking rates are $2.50/hour for street and $2.25/hour for lot/deck.The restaurant isn't very big. Seating is communal. There's no outdoor seating. A showcase oven and pizza prep counter are the focal point of the the dining room (open kitchen). The atmosphere was bustling. The food menu was straightforward with 10 appetizer, soup, and salad options (priced at $11-16 each), 10 red pizzas ($15-21), six white pizzas ($18-21), and four cured ham options ($11-18 per ounce). Some local items were featured such as Chatham County Crispy Pig's Ears ($14) and Orange County Baby Lettuces ($11). The drink menu was extensive and had a decent variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The wine list had a solid assortment of wines from across Italy. Here's what three of us shared:Antipasti* Burrata ($15) - cherry tomato config, everything flatbread* Ricotta Dumplings ($16) - cipollini, NC sweet corn, Italian truffle* Person Co. Roasted Okra ($12) - tomato mayoPizza* Sweet Fennel Sausage, roasted peppers, provolone ($19) - red pizza* Spicy Calabrian Salumi, charred onions, fior di latte ($19) - red pizza* Cultivated and Foraged Mushrooms, garlic, fior di latte ($19) - white pizzaCocktails* Aperol Margarita ($13 each) x2 - Lunazul, Cointreau, aperol, lime, sea salt, rocks* Carousel ($12) - Campari, Barbera d'Alba, honey, lemon soda, rocks* Anguria Fresca ($13) - mezcal, watermelon, jalapeno, rocksWine* Sterparo, Aglianico, Basilicata (2022) ($11 glass) - orange and pink wine from Southern Italy (rosato / rose)Everything was delicious. My favorites were the Burrata and the Mushroom pizza. Everyone in our group liked the Mushroom pizza the best.If it's on the menu, burrata is one of my favorite things to order when dining out. Most restaurant burrata I've had has typically been good. In comparison, Pizzeria Toro's Burrata was above average. Not only was it really fresh, but it had an added layer of richness and complexity. The accompanying "everything flatbread," a la everything bagels, was excellent. It was full of flavor and incredibly tasty on its own.And that's something I noticed they do really well here: bread (dough / crust). The crust on all three of our pizzas was absolutely fantastic. This was the kind of crust that had ideal flavor and consistency (the right amount of springiness) where every single bite was scrumptious and you wanted to finish everything.I'm a fan of mushroom pizzas in general and Pizzeria Toro's Mushroom pizza was probably the best I've had in recent memory. It was packed with umami. I also love garlic and fior di latte, so no surprise this turned out to be my favorite pizza. Second-best to me was the Sweet Fennel Sausage pizza. Again, outstanding crust and just terrific all-around flavor. High-quality ingredients, well-balanced. I recommend it if you like sausage pizza. The Spicy Calabrian Salumi pizza was salty and savory. While yummy, I probably wouldn't order it again simply because there were so many other better-looking options on the menu. The other apps, the Ricotta Dumplings and the Roasted Okra, were very good. The Ricotta Dumplings were recommended to us by our server and it was a great recommendation, fairly unique and very satisfying. The Okra was local and a tasty side. The cocktails were well-made, strong, and refreshing. Also eye-appealing.We interacted with lots of staff, from the hostess to the bartenders to the food runners, and everyone / service was great. Francesca was our server and she was wonderful. I could tell this is a well-run operation."Toro" is Italian for bull. I think the business name is a nod to the City of Durham, nicknamed the "Bull City.""

We ordered two combo platters - one with oysters, jumbo shrimp, and scallops, and the other with catfish and oysters. Platters come with French fries, hush puppies, and cole slaw. They give you a generous amount of the sides, but I did not care for the fries. Everyone's favorite was the fried scallops, which were meaty and fresh. I've been here many times, although I do not typically eat red meat, there are many options on the menu for me.Big recommendations for me personally are the calamari, ahi tuna, and salmon. Daniel B. "We liked Noodle 501 OK. I give it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.This is a casual Asian noodle restaurant located on 15-501 just off I-40 exit 270. Most of the noodles served here are Thai and our main server was Thai. This place isn't super "authentic," but it's decent for what it is, especially in this part of Durham. Expect about the same or maybe a step above the noodles served at a typical Triangle Thai restaurant. The noodle selection is better here. This restaurant opened on June 4, 2022: https://bit.ly/43ZvET4. It replaced the Firehouse Subs next door to the Starbucks in the Indigo Corners shopping center: https://bit.ly/436mLWs. The space has been renovated. It's got sort of an industrial, modern, street-food feel to it with corrugated and diamond-tread metal siding, exposed brick, murals, and pendant lighting.Noodle 501's noodles fall into three broad categories: (1) Stir-fried noodles or "dry" noodles, (2) curry noodles, and (3) noodle bowls, a.k.a. noodle soups. Most of the noodle soups are ramen with a chicken broth base. The stir-fried noodles, which are all Thai style (e.g., Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle) are among the more authentic items. During our visit, noodle entrees started at $14-17 each and proteins and extras cost anywhere from $1-6 each. The noodle bowls already include protein. Also, the restaurant serves more than just noodles. They offer an assortment of Asian apps and snacks, such as Fried Soft Shell Crab ($14) and Takoyaki (6 octopus balls for $9), and soups, like Thai Tom Yum (lemongrass) and Tom Kha (coconut) soup. On the menu, the Takoyaki caught my eye, but I was skeptical. That skepticism was confirmed when I saw a table near us order it. The Takoyaki didn't exactly look like the kind you'd get at a proper Japanese restaurant. It looked rough around the edges, including the bonito flakes on top. Not that it was bad. I just prefer higher quality. Desserts included Crispy Roti with or without ice cream ($4/5) and Mango Sticky Rice (seasonal, $7).Here's what my wife and I ordered:Starters* Loaded Fried Tofu (8 pieces for $6) - fried tofu topped with peanuts, scallions, and sweet chili sauce* Rotee & Curry ($6) - Indian pancake served with yellow curry and cucumber salad sauceStir-Fried Noodle* Pad Woon Sen ($14) - bean thread noodles stir-fried with choice of protein (we chose chicken, +$1), yellow onions, scallions, carrots, and celeryNoodle Bowls* Yen Ta Fo ($17) - flat rice noodles with roasted pork, calamari, fish balls, fried tofu, and bok choy in a fermented soybean pink soup, topped with fried wontons* Thai Style Chicken Ramen ($16) - chicken drumstick, thigh, and bok choyDessert* Mango Sticky Rice ($7) - seasonalBeverages* Thai Tea ($4)The Loaded Fried Tofu was a fun little snack though I probably wouldn't order it again. I wanted to see what it was like. Not bad. The Rotee & Curry was good, as it often is at Southeast Asian restaurants. Our order came with one fresh, savory pancake and a small side of curry. The pancake had appetizing an texture and overall, the app was delicious. I recommend it.The Pad Woon Sen was good and satisfying. Also, the portion size was generous. We took leftovers home. Pad Woon Sen is comfort food in Thailand. When I ordered it, our server said she had just had some earlier in the day. When it comes to Thai food, a lot of people know about Pad Thai, but less know about Pad Woon Sen. The main difference is the type of noodle used -- glass noodles or cellophane noodles. It's described on the menu here as bean thread noodles, which is also accurate. The only thing that stood out to me about Noodle 501's Pad Woon Sen that could be better was the chicken. It was a bit tough and dry. When I saw Yen Ta Fo on the menu, I had to order it. This was one of my sister's favorite noodle soups to eat in Thailand when we used to make annual trips there growing up. Yen Ta Fo is easier to find in the States now, but it's still relatively rare. It's known for its distinct pink broth which comes from the fermented bean paste. Noodle 501's Yen Ta Fo was OK. Certainly not like the ones you can get in Thailand. It tasted "instant" and the roasted chashu pork was tough and tasted cheap. Like the tofu, I probably wouldn't order the Yen Ta Fo again.Something I would order again is the Thai Style Chicken Ramen. It was yummy, and I found it to be relatively light. It had tender, bone-in chicken, ramen noodles with nice consistency, and a decent broth. The bok choy was fresh as well.I would also order the Mango Sticky Rice and Thai Tea again. Noodle 501's Mango Sticky Rice was unique because the rice was Thai blue sticky rice made with butterfly pea flower, and it was topped with black sesame seeds. The mango was ripe and sweet. The Thai Tea wasn't anything out of the ordinary, just solid.Service was great. The staff was polite and very attentive, including our server Aey.TL;DR version - Noodle 501 is acceptable for casual noodles out."
